Wonderful little coffee shop with light fare next to campus. The owner and employees are wonderful, down-to-earth, and just a joy to chat with. They had a Dunkin Donuts open up practically next door and this place is still going strong. That in itself should tell you a bit about the great quality they offer here.

This is a cozy coffee shop on the edge of campus. The coffee is very good and the baking is exceptional. The baristas are incredibly nice, and clearly enjoy their work. The improved wifi has made for a productive environment as well. On the other hand, the temperature can get rather warm at times(they are baking after all), and the small building can get crowded(and loud) at different times of the day. But that’s just searching for perfection…

What everyone says about the breakfast sandwiches being delish? Not an exaggeration. Ask to have yours cut in half if you are getting it to go. The espresso drinks were good as well. Some of the tables are slices of tree trunks, which improves the feeling of the interior by bringing in some organic material. Will definitely return every time I am traveling through Ames, which means I am traveling 6 – 12 minutes out of my way for good quality, tasty food, a good latte, and a local business.

Place has the best coffee in Ames by far! Great staff and sandwiches too, which are made with bread from scratch in house. Seriously just try it because it’s worth it. PS it’s not any more expensive than Starbucks, probably cheaper.

Just visited here for the first time and it was great! I got the pumpkin chai tea latte and it was delicious. The place is very good for studying and relaxing and getting your morning/afternoon coffee! I definitely recommend!

They have excellent croissants, certainly the best I’ve had in Iowa and a big step up from the(surprisingly good) ones you can get in the frozen aisle at Trader Joe’s and Walmart. My iced coffee was very good too.

This place is the real deal for coffee and pastries in Ames. The owner really knows her coffee, the staff is helpful, and the coffee is brewed fresh every time. It takes a minute or two to get your coffee, but it is well worth it. Also, the shop is pretty small, but cozy nonetheless. I recommend this place for sure!

Amazing everything. Slow pour is the way to go, and these smooth and delightful brews deserve it! Bought a small bag of beans(great idea!) for a gift. Had the lemon blueberry scone and wish I could have tried all the treats; they looked so yummy! Pleased with my purchase and will visit again next time I’m in town.

I really like that they roast their own coffee but I think it is just ok. Although I really appreciate that they offer gluten free scones, I thought it was just ok as well.

Great coffee and baked goods, easily my favorite in Ames. The coffee takes time — do not come here in a rush — but it’s worth it and fun to try all the different varieties they stock. The breakfast baguettes are delicious, too, and also not fast. The space is cute and cozy, though the tree stump tables are not the most conducive to work. But they’re fine since the scones and coffee more than make up for them!

In town for a family reunion and stopped in for breakfast. We had to search for a bit because the Unilocal map was off… it’s east of where the map shows. However, the experience was totally worth the extra driving. The four of us had two different kinds of scones, a baguette sandwich, coffee, an Italian soda and orange juice. Everything was fresh and tasted fantastic(ok the orange juice wasn’t the best but it was a minor detail). The service was delightful… friendly and helpful. We would definitely come back!

Not only the best Café in Ames, one of the best I’ve ever been too. Best coffee anywhere. Fantastic rum balls. World class cakes. Absolutely a place to make a trip to if you’re in the area.

I’m a big coffee drinker. Since moving to Ames, I’ve tried many cafes — and got a conclusion. The Coffee taste is great, might be the not the best in town, but reasonably good. Once considering price and the taste at the same time, this is good. They provide fresh roasted, grounded and brewed coffee with very reasonable price! You should try. Drive trough is possible and the white chocolate chip & cranberry cookie was incredibly great– quite resembles with the perfect Chocolate chip cookie recipe from NYT.
