Ordered pork sausage, coconut chicken soup, beed fried dish and Thai tea. Sausages are especially tasty. Overall is great, other than that the flavor is on the heavy side-all dishes are salty and spicy.

On our way through stopped in for lunch. Friendly and fast service. Food was good. Bathrooms were not real clean. It is a dive not a grand setting. Large plates of food. We had the shrimp fried rice, pepper steak, sweet and sour chicken and chicken noodles. The noodles are thin, they seemed bland and a little overcooked.

Authentic Laos food in Amarillo? I had my doubts. So glad I came in. The place is definitely a dive but food delivers. Had the chicken lap and soup combo. Dang thing came out entrée size. Full plate of lap, full phở bowl size of soup and sticky rice! I had no idea the amount of food I was going to have so I decided to have a side of Laos sausage too. Thank goodness the waiter gave me a half size(2 links). Full size would have been 5 links! Not just that… food was soooooo cheap! My meal easily feeds 2. Price? $ 21. For reals? That’s 3 entrees plus an ice tea. Yalls missing out on some home style Laos food if u don’t come try it.

I travel I40 often and found this gem on Unilocal. I’m going to make this simple. What I ordered. Iced tea — tasted generic. Cheese wontons — excellent. A nice flaky crisp. Pad c-u beef — good taste would get again. Beef jerky — got to go so no comment. Overall I will be stopping back to this place when I travel across I40 again from Las Vegas, NV.

ly’s is good. good value and good food! if you like Lao food, this is the place to be. this stuff is authentic lao food. if you’re looking for sweet n sour chicken or beef and broccoli, go to the west side of town. but if you want to be adventurous come here with an open mind. the location is in an older strip mall that houses asian and african businesses. the restaurant itself is kinda small but it can still accommodate a large group, should you have one. my favorite dish here is the beef salad(laap sien). it’s not a salad in the western sense, you know, leafy greens topped with other veggies and dressing. this salad is chopped beef seasoned with laotian spices, herbs and chilies. it’s served with a side plate of romaine lettuce and sliced cucumbers. the papaya salad and lao sausages here are also good. to be honest, anything on the menu is good.

I really enjoy going to Ly’s for some great food. My husband is always satisfied in the way they make their fried rice and I love getting their phở. The beef jerky and sticky rice is good even though I prefer the jerky made a different way. It’s worth the trip out to eat here!

The beef jerky was really good– they serve it with a delicious hot sauce. Sticky rice cooked perfectly. Fast, friendly service, no-frills atmosphere. The Crispy Noodle with chicken was delicious– great sauce. Open late on Sundays(when few others are!)

I hate to rate a place by one experience, but since I was just driving through town, I doubt I’ll be making it back there anytime soon. As usual, for my first time experience at any place I always ask the server for a recommendation(I’ll add this now, the server was very friendly– the place is almost worth going to just for her). She suggested Beef Jerky?! Apparently I’m not accustomed enough to Vietnamese/Laotian food to know that beef jerky is served as a meal. She said it was very popular and that people travel far and wide to eat it. Fair enough, one beef jerky, please. Its not like they open a bag of Oberto’s and put it on a plate– the meat was a good quality, and it was much better seasoned, and less dry than what you’d get at 7−11− but i couldn’t get over the fact that I’m eating beef jerky for a meal. She gave me some sorta salsa to dip it in which was very fresh and tasty. So ya, for beef jerky– it was the best jerky I’d ever had– but then again I’ve never eaten it as a meal before. To you readers who are used to jerky as a meal I apologize for my ignorance. In spite of that, I can tell by the food i had that this little joint was quality for a decent price and I would not object to going again if I happened to be in Amarillo again. Unfortunately I picked the wrong dish for me– but I could tell it was well made. I’d be anxious to try their other dishes.
