Really enjoyed the dry rub ribs, great smokey flavor and cooked to perfection. The sweet tea was absolutely perfect, not too sweet. The gal behind the counter was very helpful and extremely friendly. Highly recommended. For a small joint, Big flavor.

Absolute worst barbecue my family and I have ever eaten. I have seen this place advertised on the news, heard about all the awards on TV, but never actually talk to anyone who has eaten there. Our food was barely even warm, my sliced beef had the taste of freezer burn, the hotlinks tasted like they were just taken out of the refrigerator, and the sauce was watery and did not taste good at all either. I literally had to eat lots of pickles and jalapeños to get the taste of the barbecue out of my mouth. A total waste of money, very disappointed, and we will never eat there again. I did not complain to the girl behind the counter, I was waiting for her to ask me how was my meal and I was going to tell her the truth, but she never asked. This was yesterday. So very disappointed. We had been on a long trip, finally got home, and really wanted some delicious hometown barbecue. Not one member of my family could eat their food. We left it all there on the table. Don’t let this place for you, it is not good. We ordered sliced beef, hot links, beans, potato salad, and all the fixings. The only thing that was edible was the pickles and jalapeños that came out of a can or jar.

Not impressed. potato salad was good. But the bbq was not good at all. Beef brisket was fatty with no flavor. Sauce was runny. For the ribs the only worse then thier appearance was the flavor or taste.

If this place only served Frito pies I’d give it 5 stars cuz they’re amazing, but the rest of the food on the menu ain’t all that great compared to other places in town. That being said I’m a regular customer but always order a Frito pie!!!

Not BBQ. Not by Texas standards, oklahoma, or anywhere. Chopped beef was not chopped. It had been put in a food processor. It tasted exactly like they had boiled it in a plain pot of water with no salt or anything at ALL in there. No smoke at all, no flavor. NONE. Thank goodness we had brought some spice seasoning with us. The ribs are huge, but again not much flavor, but better than the watery chopped beef. Brown beans were good, a little sweet though. The BBQ sauce was pretty flavorless too, no hint of smoke and bland. Cole slaw was ok but bland too. The only reason I gave it a 2 was the meat was not dry. Nothing had the BBQ taste I could have done it all on my stove.

My ribs had no smoke ring because the whole rib was smoked! Henk’s is more than a hole in the wall, but it is certainly small town. Classic Texas BBQ. If BBQ is your comfort food, you will be right at home.

This place was ok. Portions were not as big as I hoped for when I ordered there largest meal and was told it would be enough for two to share when I was driving from Amarillo to Florida but the taste was decent. Everything was fresh prepared. The staff was very friendly. I got my order to go. No issues there. I did not get sick which is always a good thing from a dive place on the side of the road(I love dives so this is not an insult)

Family of New Yorkers looking for some authentic Texan BBQ… This was the spot! It’s a hole in the wall family owned place but I’ve found those are the yummiest and kindest places. Plus It’s always good to support small family owned businesses! :) Full rack of ribs: meaty, extra large and fall off the bone type of good. The sauce was thick and flavorful. For a few adults eating we barley made a dent in the pile! Plenty of leftovers!($ 26 ish) Frito pie: we ordered this purely out of entire curiosity… And we are glad we did! It’s a layer of Fritos, meat, beans, sauce and lots of cheese! The man behind the counter promised we’d love it and we did!($ 9 ish) Baked beans, bread, peppers, etc — all yum, yum, yum! It was a pet friendly experience since we ate outside! Left Texas feeling satisfied!

I like the Frito pie quite a bit. It’s BYOB which is cool and they have a good selection of peppers and pickles to top off your bbq

Ate there yesterday evening. First time here. Had the two rib and chopped beef plate. Big meaty ribs and good portion of beef. It was all good and friendly service.

Only reason it’s getting 2 stars is because the beef was very tender. That said, the beef had little to no flavor. The bbq sauce was one of the worst I’ve had, no spices, smokiness, or flavor to speak of. The potato salad was marginal, a little sweet for my liking. And the cole slaw was atrocious, seemed like it was just cabbage and vinegar. Don’t believe the rating it has, might have been good once, but it’s certainly lost Henk’s former glory.

Wildly unimpressed :(Came here as we drove through Amarillo and stopped because of the high ratings. I love BBQ and am happy with just about anything but the chopped beef sandwich lacked flavor. The beef wasn’t seasoned at all. The sauce smelled like Sloppy Jo sauce but wasn’t as good. The potato salad was ok but too sweet for my preference. However the sweet tea wasn’t sweet enough! The ice is awesome and the people are friendly though.

Great ribs and delicious beer battered onion rings! We also had the frito pie because the large and a large drink were just over $ 10. A ton of food and tasty at a great price. Perfect location right off the highway for hungry travelers. Very kind staff.

What a find for us right off the interstate! And the hospitality could not have been finer! Mr. Henk and the entire staff was so sweet! He even invited us to see the smoker in all it’s glory and take pics! If we ever come through Amarillo again we will definitely come back! We had the 3 rib plate with potato salad, cole slaw, beans, and bun! Ate it all! Couldn’t finish beans because we were full :) must stop if you are in the area!

i ordered the pulled pork platter through the drive thru window since I had my dog with me. The pork was so dry. There was little sauce except for the oily mess the pork had sat it. Even that was not enough to make the meat moist. It was so dry and tasteless. Salt did not even help. There was barely any bbq sauce. The bun was stale. I put some pulled pork on the bun and gave it to my dog, but after licking the meat, even she wouldn’t eat it. The beans were watery and unappetizing. The only edible part of the meal was the potato salad. highly disappointed, especially for the price.

Dropped in for some BBQ and was surprised to find a combo plate Wednesday special for less than $ 10. Got the chopped beef, thick slice of ham, and sausage with coleslaw, potato salad, beans, bread and a drink. Huge amount of food for dirt cheap. Not the best BBQ around by any means, but it’s good and cheap if you hit the special. Quaint little place, couple of good ol boys dishing out the no-bullshit grub. Across the freeway and up the road a little ways is Coyote Bluff. Yes, THAT Coyote Bluff. I”ll hit that Hell burger again for sure! Review to follow.

I came here at 10 in the morning and found out they added a breakfast menu. =) This place still hasn’t changed a bit and that’s okay. I like going to the same place, ordering the same thing, sitting at the same table, seeing familiar faces, and… YOUGETTHEPICTURE…
