Smokey Joes Bar and Grill

At first it seems divey, but being from colorado I know that some of the most discerning customers are bikers no really I worked in the service industry bikers were my best tippers but expected quality food. We wanted BBQ and something super local. If you have dogs with you its a very loud busy street but its so great to watch everyone drive by and the patio was great. Our waitress was fast, and we had the best burgers ever! Some lone star beer to wash it down since we had never tried and perfect onion rings, and fries to go with it. What else do you need on memorial day wknd. The patio shut down quickly as it started to rain its a little more rustic inside, but just be polite to everyone as you should anyway and youll be treated just fine, dogs and all.

Always a favorite place to come when we are in Amarillo. Everything we have ever had is delicious and the people are great!

AWESOME place. Really good food and really great service. Our waitress even brought out a bowl of water for our pup. We were traveling through from California and wanted to eat some good local food at a place we could take out dog. This place was good for both.
I called two hours later because I thought I had lost my wallet there and they went as far as to go check the parking lot for me.
Would definitely come back if I ever found myself in Amarillo, TX again.

There is no other way to describe this place but a dive biker bar. However, we knew this going in, and the place was packed, so we knew it was probably good. They had a large outdoor patio to sit out on during warmer months, which seemed like a great place to sit and watch people walk by and shop. Since it was February, it was a little cold. We eventually walked toward the door and found that they had a screen door on it, which usually associates well with BBQ, so that was encouraging.
We walked in and the first thing I noticed was all the sports jersey’s hanging from the wall. The second thing I noticed was the area set up for a band. I was immediately disappointed because we had missed the live band the night before L Oh well, maybe next time. We finally set down and ordered a couple of Shiner Bock’s to see how they were. As it turned out, they were very good. WE both decided on hamburgers, (we had heard they were really good) and enjoyed some music from the jukebox. I still wish it had been live music, but at least we had some music. The burgers were good, even though we had to wait a while. However, since they are made fresh after you order, it does take a while longer. I would definitely go back again on our next trip. This time on a Saturday night for the live music. Happy Travels!

My husband and I ate here because we were looking for something local and had our dog with us. Outdoor seating was ample and our dog enjoyed the atmosphere. The food was great — the fried mushrooms were delicious and not greasy, the pulled pork sandwich was filling and the burger tasty.
It was cool watching motorcycles drive by (and stop in), relaxing on Historic Route 66. If we had a few more friends with us we probably would have stayed longer and enjoyed a few beers. The customers sitting around us really seemed to be enjoying themselves — a real neighborhood bar and grill that shouldn’t be missed if you are visiting Amarillo.

Service extremely slow and the atmosphere is dirty. Swatted flies the whole time. Burgers were good but will not go back.

Fantastic Chilli dog. Great onion rings and the pepper pop tops were fantastic. Nice atmosphere.

I wanted to like this place so bad but it just didn’t happen. Went with my wife, baby, and in-​laws and was not impressed at all. The only good thing was the cold beer. It took 45 minutes to bring out 3 plates of COLD food! My hamburger tasted like it had been sitting there since before we even sat down. The waitress only came by three times; once to take the order, once to refill beers, and once to give us our check. This experience was pretty disappointing.

The food here was fairly straightforward, but it was okay and our waitress ran her butt off, so I can appreciate the good service. It’s very much a biker bar and our table was sticky, but no one’s perfect, right? I wouldn’t be too happy about that at most places, but we knew this was a dive going in. Appreciate this spot for what it is and stop in for a beer!

When we arrived in Amarillo on a Sunday, this was one of the only spots open and it had a crowd. Oh what the hell, give it a shot right?
The inside is beat up. I’ve been in some serious dives and this one lives up to the term. Non matching tables and chairs, musty wood smell and bandanas hanging from the ceiling with some really old signs.
The had Shiner Bock on so we ordered that along with the green chile cheeseburger and tots. The burger certainly wasn’t fancy but it did the trick. The green chiles had a nice spice to them and my medium burger was not over cooked. The tots, straight Oreida from a bag and I was cool with that.
I want to give a special mention to our waitress. She hustled. In hour 90 minutes there, she didn’t stop moving once. Props to her for that kind of work ethic.
So not super fancy and décor that would make John Taffer scream bloody murder but it was ok in my book.

This place is popular and i am sure the food is good. (I have yet to eat), but I am waiting here on a sunday at 1:30 pm. The bar is ¾ths capacity, outdoors has 2 tables out of 20 occupied and it has taken 45 minutes close to an hour for a burger. I wish they would figure out a more efficient way to make burgers. The indoor smoke and absence of natural lighting is not helping the wait pass any easier. 1 for service, we’ll see about the food.

Great place to go grab a good Burger, some beers and enjoy the laid back atmosphere and honest service… If your looking for «made your way» you better go to Burger King. But if you want good food an a cool place to kick back for a while and relax this is it…

Food was meh. Service is still the worst in town. Slow to check on customers when there was hardly anyone there. Mad sure to show other patrons pics of her kid on her phone before getting the beers we asked for after catching on of her many empty walk-​bys. Food was cold when served.

Jalapeño chicken fried steak, and they have a jalapeño-​ranch dressing for the salad that has some kick to it. My Son loves their patty melt. I’ve even taken my Mom and Sister to this biker bar/​hangout for lunch. The food is that good. And, it’s fun to take people someplace that they might have missed out on if someone else had not scoped it out for them.
Service is always very nice, and there is a good mix of families and bikers, although the ratio turns more biker bar on the weekends. But, that’s half the fun.
Super casual.

THE BEST FRIED OKRA I’VE EVER HAD! Plus awesome service (our waitress was more than willing to give great service, so we left her a 35% tip for going the extra mile!) A great casual spot to grab a bite along the Route 66 in Amarillo, TX. (Plus the men’s bathroom is hilarious, my boyfriend took a picture of the giant urinal and beer cup holders mounted on the wall!)
