One of the few delicious and affordable place to go in the Hamptons. Everything I have had here is comparable and much more reasonable than its Sag Harbor sushi counterpart, Sen. The portions are larger at half the price and I have yet to encounter a wait, even when we come in at 9pm on Saturday during Memorial Day weekend with 8 people. They have traditionally styled Japanese booths that easily accommodate 8 – 10 people. This is a true Japanese restaurant, no Rosé, plenty of Saki options and a basic selection of alcohol and wine — nothing fancy. They tend to bring food as it is ready, as opposed to all at once but I have only experienced this when it is just my boyfriend and I. Apparently this puts people off. The service is relaxed which makes it ideal for groups who want to chat and not be smothered by the waiter. However, this means that when the waiter is there, make sure you order anything you will want in the near future. Possibly not the place to go if you are in a hurry. The one downside is that the décor and atmosphere is a little dated. But this is what keeps their delicious food so reasonable so I’m not complaining!

Less than average sushi. We sat at the bar and the chefs were surprised that I was ordering from them. I’m not a fan of a sushi bar where you sit at the bar and order from a waitress. Thats just not how sushi is supposed to be eaten. The rice definitely wasn’t sushi grade. They also didn’t have many things I order(ama ebi, hamachi cama, etc.) Overpriced and not that good.

We stopped in for lunch this week. I had the Bento Box. It was good, but the salmon teriyaki was a little fishy. My wife had the rolls… they were really good. Shrimp tempura and a Beef Negimyaki bento box were also well received. Wouldn’t go for dinner. prices way too high. Not a bad value for lunch.

Not too shabby Fresh fish for the sushi fix — but they forgot to mention that the sashimi comes with a soup so we ended up ordering extras.

I echo the comments by Nan M. At lunchtime, we were practically the only ones there, and the sole server was angry and inattentive, basically daring us to order something and slapping down the food as soon as the kitchen produced it, and as hostile a way as possible. The food was pretty dreadful, too in the parking lot outside the restaurant, to Japanese guys were hand mixing green wasabi in large metal bowls under trees where all sorts of stuff could have fallen in it. Having fun? my spouse asked. This place is terrible, they responded.

Would like to save others the time and expense of dining at Zakura. We haven’t even left the restaurant yet and feel the need to write a review ASAP. We are the only people here, came in for lunch and had to ask for a lunch menu which the waitress was less than happy to offer us. The staff is rude and the food, mediocre. Hard to get a refill of water or tea which seems ridiculous as the waitress was too busy watching TV. There are too many great restaurants out east to end up here.

Horrible. I went to Zakura for lunch this afternoon and ordered a 6 piece sushi lunch. Upon receiving my dish, I noticed that two of the six pieces of sushi(whitefish) had huge, mealy veins running through the entire piece. After one bite, it became obvious that this fish was uneatable. I then politely asked the server if these(two) pieces could be replaced with something else — anything. Five minutes later she returned with the exact same whitefish, cut in a different place — this time the veins ran along the side of the sushi instead of the top center. Do these people have any pride in what they’re serving? Anyway, I figured that since 1⁄3 of my meal was now lost, I would just order a side of rice to help fill me up. Bad idea — the rice was vastly undercooked. Oh well, sayonara Zakura!

I ordered takeout from Zakura recently. The soft shell crab was disgusting. It was so fishy. I tried to eat the tuna and yellowtail off the top but the fishiness permeated the whole role. $ 40 down the tube.

We consider ourselves sushi experts. Sushi is a must everywhere we travel. This place was one of the best sushi we ever had. Sashimi was fresh. Rolls were delicious and had little rice, which is great in my book. Every place that has toro on their menu is automatically better than average! Food came out quickly and service was great. Thumbs up Zakura!

Service was poor. Sushi was ok. We were grossed out when during dinner, one of the waiters had to take a dead fish out of the fish tank that cut across the dining room. We are not kidding; took one of those fish tank nets right in front of the customers. And charging $ 2.00 for spicy mayo is such a dumb thing to do.

I love this place! I order takeout from here all the time and it’s always solid. Reasonably priced, and creative rolls. My favorite is the Gary roll… so good!

I am very perplexed by the recent highly negative reviews. I found the food to be good, the service helpful, and the fish tank beautiful. Not only was all the fish in the sashimi and sushi very fresh, but also the prices were very reasonable, especially given the location. Our waitress was attentive and refilled my tea without my having to ask. While the music was a little loud when we came in, they turned it down at our request. Zakura is definitely worth going to if you like sushi.

The fish tank is nice, and that’s… about it. Rude and not particularly competent service. The rolls are okay, kind of grocery store quality, and the rest of what we had there is either inedible or fresh of the Sysco delivery truck.

The food here is vile. Ordered a beef teriyaki and some rolls. Despite ordering the beef rare, it came out as double well done, probably because they were going for this sizzling plate thing which just hammered the meat. The rolls were bland and not really worth eating. The service is also pretty bad. They got our sushi order wrong and seemed reluctant to fix it, I guess hoping that we would just accept it and avoid the expense of wasted food. Things took super long to come out. Tip: they segregate patrons based on quality. To the right as you enter is where they put ugly people, people with kids, people with no shirts, large tattoos, and so on. To the left is where the Hamptons beautiful people go. Service levels are differentiated accordingly. Ask to be seated on the left.

Really good sushi is hard to find. I will say the Sushi at Zakura was pretty darn good. The sushi was fresh and was served in a timely manner. The steamed wasabi dumplings were flavored just right. Service was great. The waitress took time explaining every thing on the sampler. We will definitely be going back next time we come into town.
