When it comes to plants Charlie Whitmore is the real thing. He loves nature. Once I got a ride with him and he stopped the truck to show me a rare specimen tree in someone’s yard. He knew its Latin name and who planted it and when. When he drives down a road, he looks at the plants and how they are doing.
If you are spending big bucks on landscaping and want an intelligent and creative outcome, this is the guy. Once I watched him take a shears to an andromeda. I thought he butchered it. I had a sick feeling. It was all over in 2 minutes. The next year the plant started growing again like it never had before. His whole life has been devoted to plants and he is a genius when it comes to selection and placement. I completely trust his judgment.
