Delicious baked desserts, breads and other homemade goodies. We grabbed a sandwich«to go» and several other bakery items. The sandwich was yummy with fresh, soft bread. The Lemon Tart was outstanding! The cinnamon roll as somewhat dry. In my opinion, it needed more icing. Overall, it was a nice, quick stop for lunch.

This is one of the best bakeries I have ever visited and the best baked goods I have ever eaten. Go to Amador city and try anything in this bakery and you will be completely satisfied. They are absolutely delicious. Customer service is excellent and friendly.

IMO, Andrae’s is the real jewel in the Motherlode nowadays. A must for my family’s picnics in Amador wine country. Artisanal sandwiches, pastries, breads and so much more.

Sandwiches are amazing!!! Not many options for my 10-year old. She had a cinnamon roll. Picked up a pie and can’t wait to eat it tonight for dessert.

You will drive hours for their blue walnut bread still warm from the oven! They make their own vanilla milk for their vanilla lattes which are delicious! Great selection of gourmet food.

Andrae’s how I love thee! I have never ordered anything here I did not like and I have eaten here alot. Let start with the baked goods and breads, you cannot go wrong with anything. It’s always fresh and tastes amazing. I have tried telling the owner Matt Andrae, that raisins are disgusting so he makes sure to tell his staff«extra raisins on everything for her!» when I come in. If you want lunch, sandwiches, salads and pizzas are delicious. Lots of drink choices and delicious nibbles and spices that you just can’t live without. Sit outside and enjoy your food in beautiful Amador City… because lets be real, you won’t be able to make it home anyway without eating out of the bag.

I think I may have a new favorite when it comes to snacks and baked goods in the Jackson/Amador City/Sutter Creek area. Now that I’ve been a couple of times, I’ve really enjoyed the cookies and pastries in particular: they often make cookies that blend in chunks of delicious ingredients, like hazelnuts. Their chocolate chip cookies are good, too… not too sweet! They also have very good bread. If they have breakfast sandwiches available, I’d definitely recommend them. Both times I’ve gotten them, I’ve been very happy with the bread in particular. There’s also a small selection of cheeses, meats, beers, and soft drinks. Looking forward to going back again and trying their sandwiches, as well as their very popular brownies.

I really missed Gayle’s in Capitola when I moved to the foothills. Then we found Andrae’s. It’s not Gayle’s but it’s close enough to make the drive from Jackson. Everything we have ordered here has been great. I just wish they would get the coffee thing together, give me my latte when I order and pay. Don’t bring it to me when I’ve finished my meal. Other than that I can’t complain.

Stopped in on a recommendation. Grabbed iced lattes(Carmel chai and vanilla) and cookies for a snack(nibby and triple chocolate). All were good. The basque cakes seemed popular — we asked for a sample since we couldn’t take a whole one. Perfect not-too-sweet bite. The place was packed so I’m guessing everything else was as good as what we had — baked goods, sandwiches, cheeses, chocolates, etc. Stop in. I’m sure you’ll enjoy.

My daughter really wanted brightly colored french macarons for her birthday. I youtubed videos to make french macarons and I felt it was a little out of my baking skillset. So, I first went to Andrae’s Bakery in Amador City because everyone in this community raves about this place. I’d never been there and thought I’d give it a try. My daughter and I went into Andrae’s and asked if they could made said french macarons. The young girls behind the counter informed my 11 year old that the cookies she wanted were a «seasonal» item, could not be made in bright colors and could not be made special order. Additionally, the Andrae’s Bakery staff was not polite, basically rude to my daughter for asking. I will never go back. I went to Guilty Indulgence in Jackson and the owner made my daughter exactly what she wanted. Brightly colored french macarons! Gulity Indulgence even made a batch for my daughter to sample before I ordered, just to make sure we were satisfied. Excellent customer service! The complete opposite of my experience at Andrae’s. If you want anything special ordered call Guilty Indulgence instead. You won’t regret it.

Some of the best baked goods anywhere! Matt Andrae, the owner and baker, trained at the Culinary Institute of America Napa Valley campus, and it shows. His signature dish is his Basque Cake, which is made with ground walnuts and is just superb. But his fruit tarts, breads, pastries, cookies and other cakes are also delicious. The bakery also sells wonderful sandwiches and other deli items, and has a great selection of cheeses and other gourmet food items. It’s where I always get my picnic when I’m headed into the wine country or up into the mountains. Definitely worth the stop.

While on a scenic drive to the foothills my husband heard locals in Sutter Creek speak well of Andrae’s in Amador City. He asked to go there. I told him I’d been there before, and my experience previously was not a favorable one. I explained why: «When I entered with my service dog I was greeted with, „You can’t bring dogs in here.“, which is always so welcoming. The sandwich I had was on a roll so tough that I could hardly chew it. If I had dentures … forget about it. And I thought the sandwich and the bottled soda were exorbitantly priced.» It had been quite a while and I was willing to give them another chance. This time nothing was said in regards to my service dog. I got a sandwich and potato-salad, and my husband selected ham and cheese on a croissant and a shortbread cookie. We skipped buying any drinks. I consider the pricing to still be rather high, especially since what we got was so disappointing. My husband said his sandwich was only«so so». The cookie had good flavor but was rather crumbly, and there wasn’t much of it. The sandwich I selected was«Heirloom Tomato & Fresh Mozzarella» on a hard roll(emphasis on hard). Once again I found the crust on their bread so tough that it was an effort to take a bite into it. What I found more off-putting was how the cheese, and not even the tomatoes(which should have been the main flavour), were totally overpowered and not even tastable with the unspecified ingredient of fresh basil leaves that overwhelmed all else. To make matters worse, the potatoes in their Yukon Gold Potato Salad were undercooked and stopped short of even being al dente. I don’t know why this place is thought well of, maybe there just isn’t a lot of options in that area. As for me, I opt to not go there again. In this case, two strikes and your out.

Whenever my visiting my parents, I always like to come down to Andrae’s. They have some of the best pastries that I’ve ever tasted. Plus, they have pastries that I’ve never had anywhere else. Some notable items to try: hot-crossed buns(seasonal for Easter I think), Basque cake, Panettone, and the almond croissants. I like the small town feel of this bakery, with their little shop of random food trinkets, and the good section of cheese to select! I want to come by for lunch, their sandwiches look awesome!

Perfect spot to fill up your picnic basket for your day of wine tasting in the area. Located off the main road, there is parking in the back as well as off the main front area. Charming yet modern-ish, Andrae’s Bakery has something for everyone’s tastebuds. I love their walnut and blue cheese bread. At about $ 5, I love this toasted for b’fast with an egg scramble. In fact, that’s what I had this morning. Other goodies include: * Tarts * Espresso drinks * Cookies * Croissants * Rolls * Cheeses * Goodies like olives, marinated assorted items, deli items, etc. for picnics Other gift-y items about such as TCHO chocolate nibs, tea towels, chocolate for baking, gourmet salts — you get the picture. With a small patio in the back, soak in the sun and the scenery. Service is quick and friendly. They take credit cards too!

Nice to find a good bakery in this area. Small business with many outside tables scattered around outside. We sampled cookies which we all loved. The pre-made sandwiches were good, not great, but it was very nice that they plate them and serve to you to dine al fresco(dogs allowed outside). We also ordered a couple of pastries to go with the following morning’s coffee. The fresh peach scone did not weather so well, was rather dry the next day, but the almond croissant was very tasty. Will stop by again when in the area.
