We were pleasantly surprised with our lunch at Margaret’s Café during our short visit to the Jackson Rancheria Casino. Service was friendly, although a bit slow. DH said his Reuben Sandwich was the«best ever.» The light marble rye was baked in house and certainly looked delicious. Fries were okay. I had a quarter pound cheeseburger which was obviously hand formed … not pre-made in some«meat factory.» The bun was also baked in house and really stood up to the meat. It is so hard to find a bun these days that is not like a marshmallow in texture. My only complaint was that the two slices of cheese were very processed, probably Kraft. I peeled one off and regret that I did not hold the cheese. For my side, I ordered a green salad which came with sliced cucumbers, radishes, etc. I had a cup of coffee that was more than adequate. Bakery items looked tempting, but we opted out. Would certainly consider another meal at Margaret’s Café if we ever visit the casino again.

One of the worst dining experiences. We went for brunch on Labor Day and should have saved our money for something else not on the rancheria. The service was more than SLOW. I think there was a snail in the back cooking food. We waited over half an hour with empty drink glasses waiting for someone to come by to at least offer us some refills. We watched food repeatedly come out of the kitchen but it was never ours. Finally at about the 40 min mark the waitress came over and offered us refills on our iced tea and assured us our food be up shortly. The food finally came and was WRONG. My dining companion ordered a breakfast burrito and got the HUGE breakfast with ham, eggs, potatoes and pancakes. She told the waitress that she ordered the breakfast burrito. The waitress replied very rudely«OH, this isn’t what you ordered? I thought that’s what you said you wanted» Then I ordered ham with my breakfast and received bacon. The waitress very snottily said, «I’m sure that’s what I put in to the system.» At this point she told me to just take the ham off the wrong order and asked if we just wanted the wrong order. Both of us looked at each other like«seriously!!!» She dropped the plates on the table and told my companion that she would go order the breakfast burrito. At this point I have my food and she’s still waiting. Another 30 minutes go by, I’m finished with my food and still no breakfast burrito. At the 40 min mark again, the food came out. The waitress never offered any apologies, explanations, or even an excuse about why it took so long for the replacement order. We got the bill and paid the full amount for both meals. There was never even an offer to comp the burrito. Save your money. Go elsewhere or to the buffet. Plus the whole thing is in the middle of the gaming floor. So if someone sits down at a machine to play and is smoking, because there aren’t solid walls, all that smoke wafts into your eating space. Can’t say that we’ll be back and I really wonder if anyone cares about the quality of service in this place. We weren’t the only ones that had the same experience. The tables next to us seemed pretty disgusted by their dining experiences as well.

One of the worst meals I ever had, may as well close this place and open a decent diner, Denny’s could do better. Service was extremely slow, an hour for a burger and grilled cheese sandwich? grilled cheese came out so burnt could not even eat it. Burger was a small ‘ball’ of meat barely cooked. Disgusting place. Highly recommend the Lone Wolf upstairs and the RV park though. Just do not waste your money, time or stomach to Margarets, makes my stomach turn just thinking about it as I write this.

This place definitely exceeded my expectations. Both the California burger and Pops burger were delicious and gigantic. CA burger had Swiss cheese, sprouts, bacon, sprouts & pickled onions. POps burger had chili, Fried onion strings, and deep fried fresh jalapeños, yummmmm! They came with steak fries(always a plus as these are the best in my opinion) but you can opt for a salad or side of fruit of you want. Service was attentive & friendly. Ambience is comparable to a Denny’s but the food quality is much better. They ask you how you’d like your burger prepared which is always indicative of the freshness/quality of meat being used ;)

The service is still good, the food good and plenty, but they’ve gone to serving sandwiches, such as a French dip or reuben in a wire basket, with fries also in the basket. The nature of the sandwich makes this awkward. By the time I got to the end of mine, the paper lining the basket had failed, and my food was spilling thru to the table. Recommend you ask the wait person to have it served on a plate.

I am impressed with this dining spot inside a casino. I cringe at the thought of eating in this kind of surrounding but was pleasantly surprised both times we dined here. First evening we wandered in late, while most everything else was closed. We had a very good server. I asked about the salads on the menu and he suggested the Asian Chicken Salad and the Cobb. We ordered both and a breakfast and everyone was happy with their meal. My Asian Salad was fresh, huge and hit the spot. The next day I was too busy winning to eat but once my streak had cooled we ended up here for a late lunch. I ordered a half turkey sandwich and green salad and again was quite pleased with my lunch. My partner couldn’t resist a slice of pie(since I was buying) and she thought the apple pie was just right. A slice was only $ 3, a fair price for a decent piece of pie. Noticed the menu listed whole pies at $ 25 which seemed a bit pricey, but the bakery sign stated $ 16 a pie which was more reasonable. Service was adequate but waiting a long time for the bill. Perhaps we were just anxious to get back to the casino? All in all I think this is a decent spot to grab a bite in between the gambling fun.

Stayed at Jackson Rancheria for two days last week. It was the first time I’d been there since the construction and I was really impressed with the casino renovations in general. Visited the new café(Margaret’s) for breakfast on the second day we were there. Apparently the Amazing Race was doing a casting call at the hotel this morning so Margaret’s was hopping. We were seated quickly and I found the server to be plenty attentive. I ordered the Green Flannel Hash and Eggs and it was perfect. The corned beef was very fresh and the large chunks of country potatoes were wonderfully complimented by sliced jalapenos and green peppers. The perfect balance of spiciness, in my opinion. Basically I knew it was a quality breakfast when I returned at dinner time and ordered the exact same meal a second time. Ultimately, I think Margaret’s is a great addition to the F&B offerings at Jackson Rancheria. Friendly staff, high quality food, and prices that didn’t make me feel like I was gambling with my meal choices all equal a solid win for Jackson Rancheria this time. Nicely done, JRCH

Ate lunch here. We both had different varieties of the chicken sandwiches. Both were very good, but the chicken was overcooked. The sides of salad and fries were ample and very good. The waitress was not as attentive as I would have liked, left us alone with our empty drink glasses way too often. We got some cookies to go, but those were not very good. The oatmeal raisin was bland and the peanut butter tasted more like butter than PB. They have whole pies for $ 25! seems a bit steep and given the history of the cookies, doubt I would fork over that much dough for one.

Went to breakfast there with my Sr. almost as soon as it opened. It got there quickly and the eggs were good, I had hashbrowns and he had pancakes which were fine. The odd thing was that we both had bacon, which were totally different. Mine was small and crispy, which I like, his was large and soft and had a more smoked taste. Go figure. And speaking of figuring, the prices are normal for restaurants, but don’t expect bargains on the food. They don’t have them, unless they’re a special of some kind. This is actually quite a large restaurant, on the left near the new main entrance to the casino. Pick up the little newspaper menu there if you want to read a brief history of Margaret Dalton and the casino’s beginnings. They have some neat baked goods in a counter in front of the restaurant. If you like peanut and chocolate, you should DEFINITELY try the buckeye, I think they call it. It’s really good and the cookies are pretty good too. I’d make sure they’re fresh and baked there. They serve breakfast all day but also have appetizers, salads and sandwiches, burgers and there’s a wide variety of baked goods displayed in the cases in front as I mentioned that you can get to go. The chocolate chip cookies were good today, but could have been a little fresher. I am anxious to go back and try the fried oyster poor boy sandwich, which is something I really like and don’t remember them having at the casino before.
