The Vintage Inn Bed & Breakfast

I know I will be back to Alva and I will NEVER stay or recommend this B&B. My fiancé and I had planned a road trip 6 weeks in advance to drive a U-​haul taking my son some furniture and a short visit to see my son who went to College, lives and works in Alva.
We found this B&B online just down the street from where he lives. I personally had called several times and could never get through to anyone but a voicemail and then my messages were never returned. My fiancé finally did get through and confirmed a 3 night stay starting on October 9^th with the owners son.
A week prior to our arrival my fiancé spoke to the owner who again confirmed our reservation. After 3 long days on the road we were looking forward to our arrival. I had called a couple times during the day of our arrival to let her know what time we would be in. Again, I had to leave a VM and I never got a return call to confirm receipt of my message.
We arrived about 7:00pm the front door was unlocked and there was a football game on the Big screen TV… but there was nobody there. We looked everywhere for a sign of life… NONE!
We left our luggage in the foyer, left the U-​Haul parked out front and went to dinner.
We returned about 9:30pm still no-​one there… My son and I went up-​stairs looking for signs of life. A few doors were open with unmade beds and we knocked on the ones that were closed. FINALLY a very kind and most likely very scared young man came out of the dark and tried to contact the owner for us. When the young man finally reached the owner he handed Steve my Fiancé the phone and she actually had the nerve to ask him if we could come back the next day. We had literally just spent 3 straight days in a car, I recently had surgery and we had no where to go… especially in light of the fact it was Homecoming weekend… Our reservations apparently meant nothing to her… and her final response to Steve was… I live 16 minutes away… what do you want me to do… come make up a bed for you? Needless to say the conversation did not end well. So the boys gathered up me crying and our luggage and we spent the night in the car.
Needless to say a very disappointing experience… I felt it was a very extremely poor example of how to run a business and she seemed to have very little regard for her commitment to her customer.

This is an incredible property, meticulously restored, and luxuriously furnished. I have stayed at one of the finest hotels in Paris, and Lori had higher thread count sheets. The antique furnishings were beautiful, and the claw-​foot tub was the most extravagant soak I’ve ever had in my life. She and her son were incredible hosts, super hospitable. She was also a very good cook. It’s worth the trip to Alva just to stay here.

I have to say, I probably won’t ever be back to Alva, OK, but if I am, I am going to stay here again.
I haven’t stayed in many B&Bs but this is just such a wonderful place to be. It is such a well decorated and quaint place. It really gives the feel of staying in an old or «vintage» house. With the welcoming you will receive from the owner, it won’t feel like an old get away, she really makes it feel like home.
