Perkins Restaurant & Bakery

Quite pricey for breakfast. Clean dining area. Gross bathrooms. Food is always good, just expensive for small portions. Parking is ample and it’s usually not very busy. Service is always prompt and orders are correct. It really is quite good.

Amazing experience! The food was phenomenal and inexpensive! The service was some of the best I have ever had thanks to waitress Brandy. The food came out quickly and very hot. Would definitely recommend this place! 5 stars all around!

Arrived at 6:05. Told there would be a 10 minute wait despite counting 11 empty tables. Watched 5 other waiting couples give up and leave. We gave up and left at 6:45. Noticed the couple seated when we came in still hadn’t been served when we left.

Overall, not a good experience. Incessant beeping sound, I’m guessing is for orders that are ready or something. Portions were very small. They try to fill you up with cheap pancakes and toast. They officially served me the smallest piece of bacon I have ever had. They forgot part of our order too. Will never go to Perkins again.

I’ve eaten here quite a few times. I love the décor! They have photos taken from local photographers of local places all over! I like to walk around and check them out. The rest of the décor is pretty nice as well. I love when chains incorporate local people and things. The staff is friendly and remembers you. They are also fast and efficient. The wait is hardly anything most of the time to get in. Bathrooms are kept very clean. The food is always spot on and good. As some have mentioned; it’s a chain restaurant, but the food doesn’t taste like it. I almost always get mushroom swiss chicken and broccoli and a side salad. Everything is always fresh, never wilted, and hot! I really recommend a stop over here. Even if it’s just for a pot of coffee and a slice of pie.

Great service from the hosting staff, but the kitchen could use a little work.
The receipt said from the time of our order was entered to table was 45min. They only had a couple tables in use at that time. We did get chicken strips and onion rings, but the rest was sandwiches.
Overall I will visit again, as it may have just been an off day.

This is a chain, but the food does not taste like a chain. I had Tuscan Chicken with steamed spinach and roasted tomatoes. It was EXCELLENT! I came here with a large party and they let us have separate checks. Food Server was good about it. Food came out in a reasonable amount of time considering we had a large party of about 20 people, some got their food early, some of us later, but it was a reasonable amount of time.
Room to park the RV if it’s not busy, however, the entrance to the parking lot may be a bit dicey for RV’s to fit.

Update: Came here another time with a friend and had the salmon. DELICIOUS!
UPDATE ⁹⁄₂₀₁₅: Came here again with some friends. For some reason, they were having to train a new cook and because of this, dinners were taking an HOUR to prepare. I was really impressed with how staff were honest about this, even if they would lose business. A lot of potential customers walked out after hearing this. My friends and I decided that, hey, they needed to train a new cook, and they needed customers to do this. So we decided to put up with the «wait.» Because we were a group of five, the «wait» didn’t seem bad (I didn’t even time it!). We were all treated to a free piece of pie with our dinner.
I was really impressed with their honesty, even knowing they would lose business.

Had a very pleasant dinner last night at the Altoona Perkins. Great meal with impeccable service provided by our young waiter Ben who was very attentive to our needs and provided exceptional service that is seldom seen at restaurants these days. The manager working last night (can’t recall his name) came around and checked to see how everything was. The food was great and it truly was a great dining experience.

On our way back from Kansas City, (at 7:30 in the morning) we became hungry. We turned off the highway, and saw this Perkins. We went in, the service was great. The waiter was so nice. They had great homemade muffins for a side. I ordered something not on the menu and they still cooked it (4 scrambled eggs with cheese with 4 strips of bacon and toast)…and it was delicious. They actually cooked this stuff too, not just warmed it up. Desert (yes I know I went there in the morning) was very good. Fruit was actual fruit. Environment was friendly and quiet. I would love to come back.
