Had fresh and flavorful mussels as a starter, delicious lobster roll the way I like, light on mayo and a local beer outside. Great spot!

Met for dinner with 10 friends. We’ve eaten here when they first opened. Since we meet as a group almost every month, a different restaurant each time is part of the adventure, we decided to go back to Ackerlys. Josh was our server. He made sure none of us were left waiting or wanting. The specialty drink was a banana split martini. All but 3 of us enjoyed them. Entrées at our table: Shrimp Scampi, sweet shrimp, great sauce. Meatloaf, tasty, nice gravy. Cobb Salad, good variety of veggies and lettuce. Chicken Broccoli Alfredo, good portion, tender tasty chicken. The Mix Grill, chicken breast, beef tips, shrimp. This was the dish I had. I love ordering a Mixed Grill when I want a variety. I am almost always disappointed. The Mixed Grill here was the best I have ever had. The Tips were perfectly cooked and seasoned. Chicken was flavorful and tender. The shrimp was tender, delicious. Followed by dessert. All great. You won’t be disappointed

Had a coupon from and went to Ackerly’s for lunch. Happy Hour from 2 – 6 and got $ 3 off our drinks. Started off with a spinach dip($ 2 off during happy hour)…very delicious We ordered a beef dip sandwich and clam chowder. Both dishes were excellent. Great personable server. Will definitely go back. Would like to try breakfast on the weekend. In the milder weather, you can eat outside on the patio. I’m a fan.

Better than most restaurants around especially for the price and the service; it comes with a smile. I had the burger for 8 bucks. Very good. Got there for the end of happy hour and ordered a dirty martini and the stuffed mushrooms. The stuffed mushrooms were normally $ 9, but during happy hour were $ 4.50. They were amazing! The martini was $ 3 off during happy hour which was great! It’s a very homey place with a nice vibe, too. I am one who likes atmosphere while enjoying dinner and will pay more for the feel. This place has an excellent feel, but does not charge extra for it! Totally enjoyed dinner and will be back soon. :)

Breakfast is a fairly simple meal, but when a place misses a few easy fixes… it’s a little frustrating. We stopped here & our meals were OK. I had sausage gravy & biscuits with home fries, and hubby had the standard platter(eggs, toast, bacon, home fries). Nothing was actively bad, but nothing was good enough that I would say this is a great little breakfast joint. Eggs weren’t really scrambled very well & toast was cheap food service bread. And no jam/jelly on the table. Yes, I’m sure we could’ve asked for some, but why should we have to? If you’re going to do breakfast, figure out the basics! On the plus side, they serve bloody Mary’s for $ 5& the sausage gravy was damn good. One final thing, we noticed a real draft coming in through the closed windows — not good with winter coming soon!

Went on a Saturday night. Sat on the patio, which was great as it was Bike Week. I had a Mojito(8.00) which was delicious and fresh. They were out of the pretzel appetizer, so we had no starter. The asiago rolls were delicious. My boyfriend had the seafood trio, which he thought was pretty good(19.00); I had the lobster mac and cheese(13.00). The lobster mac was really good. We both had steak fries and grilled asparagus, both excellent. Cole slaw also good. Server was great. Would return.

The food was excellent. The gentleman was super at giving us ideas and locations for where to go while visiting New England. He is a great man running a great restaurant.

My husband and I tried Ackerly’s in Alton last night and we liked it very much. It was very busy, but we were still able to get right in. The atmosphere is cozy and casual. Our waiter, Joshua, was great. I had a cup of the lobster bisque, a side caesar and the salmon with honey ginger. Awesome! Even though I had to have the bisque re-heated, I will be ordering it again the next time we go in! Amazing! My husband had a garden salad, the grilled swordfish with basil and tomato sauce and loved it! We both had, for our two sides, the garlic mashed potatoes and grilled asparagus. The only issue that I had was that my dinner could have been a little hotter. But… not a big deal. We’ll be back!

I’ve now been to Ackerly’s 5 times and will continue to go. I’ve gotten the lobster roll 3 times, Haddock once, and Steak once. I love the lobster roll and haddock, but will note that the fried haddock has a lighter breading. My husband didn’t love it, but I think he was expecting a beer batter with a very crispy texture so I guess it depends on preference. Tonight, we went back with a gift certificate again so that I could justify trying the steak at $ 18 that was I was told was not cooked correct to temp and was very fatty by a family member who tried it previously. Unfortunately, I had the same experience. I ordered the Rib Eye at medium rare and it came to me rare. Our waitress promptly recognized this and took it back to the kitchen. When I checked it in front of her, it was medium-well. She offered to bring me a new steak but I didn’t want to wait as my husband was already half done his. The steak itself was flavorful, but very fatty. I know that a ribeye can be fatty, I wasn’t expecting quite this much, but I am not experienced enough with this cut of meat to know if it’s «too much». The meal was promptly taken off our bill and we were given a complimentary dessert(the giant cookie with ice cream — AMAZING). We certainly appreciated them doing these things. I will continue to go back for the things I like, and to keep trying new things, but will skip the steaks in the immediate future.

They need to do something about the bathroom access. It is very unappetizing to be able to see into the restrooms while eating. If you go don’t sit to the left. Be seated to the right of the door so you can enjoy your meal. The food is good. Especially the lobster roll and it’s reasonably priced. 4 stars for the food and 1 for the seating issue noted above.

If you are in the Lakes Region of NH, Alton, make Ackerlys a must stop off place. On Fathers Day took entire troop for an upscale dining at affordable prices… smoked prime rib with grilled asparagus, delicious! Another member had the biggest lobster roll, no lettuce just meat! The lobster Mac and cheese was great as was the bison burger and steak fries… served with house salad. Everything is fresh not frozen, vegetables from nearby farms. The stuffed mushroom appetizers succulent. A micro brewery on tap along with a serious choice of wines… Invite you to enjoy!

Ackerly’s Grill & Galley is now open in the former Main Street Café in Alton, across the parking lot from Fiddlehead Farms Marketplace. This casual and clean restaurant, which serves lunch and dinner was updated which has table and booth seating with a black and white color theme, black wood trim, white walls with classic framed pictures, dark finished wood floors, and a high pitched ceiling in the main dining area with a bar too! The menu offerings include a variety of sandwiches & burgers(with side) including beef dip, haddock sandwich, & lobster BLT, seafood dishes(haddock, scallops, shrimp, swordfish, salmon, lobster), steaks, chicken, prime rib(Fri & Sat), vegetarian(veggie burger, veg lasagna, roasted veg risotto), salads, soups, chowders, appetizers, and desserts. The prices here are reasonable & moderate, most entrees $ 12-$ 21, sandwiches $ 8(chicken sandwich) to $ 16(lobster BLT), appetizers $ 6(beer & cheese pretzel roll) to $ 12(seafood dip), and desserts are $ 6 each. Kids meals are also offered $ 5(mac & cheese) to $ 8(grilled salmon). A beer & wine list is at the table. See the menu at After a day of driving through the Lakes Region, I stopped for dinner at Ackerly’s Grill & Galley. I was greeted as I entered and promptly seated in a booth. The waitress promptly arrived to take my order. I knew what I wanted to order since I looked at the menu posted outside. For a starter, the New England Clam Chowder($ 5 cup) served with oyster crackers had a good creamy texture(not too thick) with minced clams, soft potato pieces, bacon, & celery. The chowder was just right and not too rich. I was given a hot dinner roll with lemon herb butter(sooo good). For dinner, the Strawberry Almond Chicken($ 12) had tender sliced grilled & marinated chicken breast served over a bed of fresh arugula, strawberry slices, sliced almonds in a tangy sweet strawberry vinaigrette dressing. The side choice of parmesan risotto had a firm texture mixed in with chunks of melted cheese. The food tasted very good and fresh. For dessert, I opted for the French Toast Banana Fosters($ 6), which had a slice of grilled egg dipped French toast topped with a sweet rum sauce, soft banana slices, a scoop of hard vanilla ice cream, powdered sugar, and whipped cream. This was an excellent choice for dessert. The check for dinner for one came out to $ 25.07 with tax and before tip. The service was friendly and prompt. The waitress checked up on me and asked me how each food item was during the meal. I would recommend dining at Ackerly’s for lunch or dinner, if your travels take you through Alton Bay. (4.65÷5.00)
