My family and I stopped here for dinner after an afternoon of site seeing. Upon arriving we noticed that the place was empty. The menu was old and uninspiring and my family asked me to order. I chose a pupu platter, egg foo young, chicken fried rice, and orange chicken. First the pupu platter — the shrimp was pasty and tasteless, bbq pork was rubbery and tasted weird, egg rolls were gross, chicken wings were over cooked, and there was nothing on it that even came close to tasting good. The egg foo young was also tasteless and the fried rice was so bland even soy sauce couldn’t help it. The orange chicken was the best dish of all we ordered but it was way too sweet. Overall it’s a big disappointment and we will not return. I suggest you keep drinking and find a better place. Money NOT well spent!

Finally found a Chinese place that is most similar to the Chinese restaurants in New York! That alone I give it four stars because everything tastes pretty authentic and delicious. The only complaint was the lemon chicken was super tough and my sister ended up switching to orange chicken but they were fine with doing that for her which was nice. I ordered the spivey ginger chicken which was fantastic. We ordered the scallion pie as an app which was our first time trying and glad we did. This place is a bit pricey though, so next time I would do take out only.

This is a bar. Stop pretending. It’s a good old fashioned, lounge lizard lounge. That also serves chinese food. After a long day on the lake we realized nothing in Alton is open past 9pm… except JP China. We were worried about bringing our children in so late… until we saw people in the bar area(which is pretty much part of the restaurant) cutting a rug to a live band with toddlers on their shoulders. Decided we were good to go and went in since we were starving. Waitress was fairly bothered to have to deal with us. The mai tais were decent though– a little heavy on the sour mix, but effective none the less. Food was ok. Probably exactly what you’d expect for chinese food in the lakes region. The bar actually looked like it was fun and the band sounded pretty good. If you are ok with mediocre chinese food and looking for a good buzz(and oh yah, you don’t mind seeing the guy cooking your food rifling butts by the dumpster in the parking lot) then this is the place for you.

Get your act together! We ordered $ 50 worth of inedible takeout slop from this imposter of a Chinese restaurant. My advice would be this: While enjoying beautiful Alton Bay, pretend that there’s no Chinese restaurant in town, and try someplace else.

Ordered take out for Monday lunch, we ordered General Tao’s Chicken, Pu Pu for 2(sub Spring Rolls instead of Egg Rolls, and small Pork Fried Rice. The Beef Teryaki and the Crab Rangoons were the only edible items out of the bunch. The General Tao was soggy though it was said to be crispy on the menu. The sauce was bland at best, not spicy as described, and the chicken itself was almost okay. The Spring Rolls were greasy and were tasteless and mushy inside. The Pork Fried Rice was rice and soy sauce with few if any pieces of pork… and that was it, no veggies what so ever! As for the rest of the meal it was more of the same greasy, mushy and tasteless. Like most people when we ordered chinese food we had some idea what we were in for, but this was simply terrible.

I agree with other Unilocalers on this one. Food was bland and lacked flavor. The waitress was overwhelmed and although she apologized for her shortness, it still did not make for a good visit. I don’t have an issue with the lounge next door. It’s separate from the actual Chinese restaurant and wasn’t a bother. The saving grace was the egg rolls. They were pretty rockin. Will I go here again? Probably not. Perhaps it was just one of their off days. Consistency is key folks.

East Coast Egg Roll Review Only! Found this little place on a spontaneous road trip down to Boston via a map and no help from Unilocal — what? Did I say that? Sometimes you just have to take adventures! My man was on a mission to have a East Coast Egg Roll, so we decided to stop at the«next» Chinese place we saw. This place was in a sleepy little town by the lake and we almost drove right by it had it not been for my keen hawk eyes. Now Texas makes the weakest, smallest egg rolls out there compared to the monsters you find out East. So we had dreamy exceptions from our past memories. They were crisp and fat just like I remembered them. They were actually non-greasy which impressed me, but I felt they were lacking a little bit of flavor. But the spicy mustard — oh yeah — clear my head out baby! So overall we were pretty happy we stopped.

J.P. China is a casual Chinese restaurant and lounge offering takeout and full service dining, situated in a big house on a sharp corner. The adjacent waiting room near the front has a comfortable soft couch, tourist guides, business card board, Pirates of the Caribbean pinball machine and a sitdown Ms. Pac Man arcade machine. This place serves up the standard Chinese dishes including Cantonese, Szechuan and Hunan dishes. The prices for most dishes and specials on the menu are $ 6.35(pork chop suey) — $ 17.75(half roast duck). 12 All Day Luncheon Combinations($ 6.25-$ 8.75) served with pork fried rice and appetizer(s) are also offered here. I stopped in here for takeout recently and ordered the Luncheon Combination 2: Pork Lo Mein, Chicken Fingers, and Pork Fried Rice($ 7.63 with tax). The portion of food given in the square takeout box was good sized. The 3 chicken fingers were hot and crispy with white meat chicken inside, but very greasy. The lo mein noodles were a bit oily and cooked soft with strips of roast pork and few vegetables(I like a variety of veggies in my lo mein dishes). The pork fried rice(brown color) had the right texture mixed with roast pork cubes, onions, and egg. The food I had tasted just fine. The service was very prompt with my food order ready to go in 7 minutes.
