Eaten here before they always mess up only good thing is the drive thru. I’m a vegetarian asked for no meat guess who’s order is full of Carne Asada

There’s just rolled tacos, but I do like my rolled tacos to have a good amount of tender shredded meat, tasty guacamole, and a good hot sauce to accompany them. The ones I experience from this little taco shop adjacent to the Shell Gas and Mini Marker, were decent but needed a little help. At four dollars, you get three rather skinny crispy rolled tacos. They were skinny and came with very little slightly overdone shredded beef. More meat would of been good because it tasted pretty good. The guacamole that came on top was okay, but it really needed some seasoning because it was bland. The rolled tacos came with a good amount of white and yellow cheese which tasted okay, but is quality was suspect given it had a dry texture. The corn tortilla used in the rolls were a little overdone. The hot sauces were okay. There flavor was mild with some sourness to both the red and the green. Both had a mild heat level and in the end, they did not add much to the quality of the rolled tacos.

There are some things here that suck(carne asada chips, rolled tacos) and some that are really good(albondigas, various burritos). Husband and I used to go here weekly but lately they’ve been messing up. It started with our soup being messed up and it has just grown worse and worse. Orders are given to the wrong people and food orders aren’t correctly prepared. Im guessing it has something to do with he cook’s kids working the drive thru and register. They used to have an adult working those positions but he is no longer there. Bring back Masin!

I used to like this place, but the quality of the food has gone down substantially the past few months. The eggs in a breakfast burrito are rubbery, the cheese is cold, and the meat in the California burrito is rancid. Im sad to say I won’t be eating here anymore, too many good Mexican places in Alpine to bother with this place.

If I could give 0 stars I would. The workers are so uneducated. We asked for a bean burrito, with a side of beans and rice. He told us we were«foreign» and«we don’t make those here». Oh really, you don’t make burritos at a taco shop? Okay. He gave us a tortilla, a side of beans, and a side of rice. Does he not understand that I wanted a BURRITO? Normally burritos have food IN the burrito. You don’t make it yourself. This place sucks

I am SO disappointed! My hubby just brought home food from there for the first time and it was terrible. I had Pollo Asada Fries. The chicken(?) Was extremely dry(almost paper like) and as you can see from the picture I posted on here, under all the toppings, the fries were extremely burned. Worst meal I’ve ever paid for. Never going back.

I ordered rolled tacos and they were really bad. They were flimsy, lacked meat, and old. The salsa was absolutely the worst, cheap and looked like orange Kool Aid that sits in a 5 gallon bucket where the drinks are at. Such a convenient place for bad food. Never again!!!

I have one word: «Yuk». I ordered the 12 rolled tacos. They were soggy begin with, and covered with a very bland guacamole, not at all seasoned. The white cheeses was good. The tacos were basically just rolled tortillas that tasted old or stale, There was very little meat in the taco, and if any meat was found on a rare occasion, it was not at all tasty and tasted old or very low quality. The salsa was bland, watered down and cheap… the worst I’ve tasted ever. Luckily, i was eating the«food» at home and had some salt and Pica Pio sauce. I will not go back.

Decided to hop off the freeway on my way home from work(viejas) and im so glad I did! The shop is right off the exit and very convenient! My food was so fresh & delicious. The young man helping me was very receipt says his name was Jesus, he was very polite. Price was fantastic. Highly reccomend this shop if youre hungry and want amazing food!

Solid drive thru Mexican. My wife was giving me an ear full about it being connected to a gas station until she tried their rolled tacos, now she asks me to stop. Their chips are always fresh out of the fryer. Plus my son is a gluten free kid and they always make him a special meal. Thanks guys.

Awful service, long wait times, got orders wrong for all four dine-in customers, and flies surrounding you and your food. You’d be doing yourself a favor by eating gasoline by the next door gas station, it’s faster, will cost you less, and cleans your insides out just as much.

For a small town Alpine has a disproportionally high number of Mexican eateries. This place has one major advantage over the others in that it has a drive thru. Ordered the chicken taco platter and the veggie burrito. Both tasted fresh and flavorful, preferred the veggie burrito however I’ve had better at other places in Alpine.

We stopped in here on our way home from viejas. We noticed them next to the gas station we filled up in. After we ordered I had a good feeling the food was going to be authentic because the cooks were blasting Mexican music in the kitchen and singing along. But sadly it wasn’t all that. The food is just okay, nothing great.

ceviche tostada and tacos de tripas were both great. shrimp cocktail is great too. a little treasure hidden in a gas station! they have a drive thru and a small indoor seating area with a few tables. conveniently located just off I-8, made for a good pit stop on the way between the infernal desert hellhole where I was working and the paradise that is San Diego… and Alpine is the first place that feels somewhat civilized if you are coming from the Imperial Valley side.

They used to make the best menudo in San Diego County, but the quality has declined. The last two visits have dropped them from their previous 5 star performance, and I doubt we will return. Two visits ago my wife and I got sick from the meat, and on the last visit the meat was not clean like it used to be. To top it off they raised the price, and there was not much meat in the menudo. We have tried the beef tacos and the rolled tacos, and both are just ok and over priced. We’ll stick with mañana’s for Mexican food in Alpine.

I’ve driven by this place a dozen times, you’ll barely notice it if you’re not paying attention. It is literally connected to a gas station. But, it’s right off Hwy 8 in Alpine. Very convenient to get in and out, as they have a drive thru. And it’s almost better to drive thru, as they only have three small tables. There was one left the day I stopped in. Simple lunch, carne asada burrito and a drink. Affordable and good. It came with a side of chips. The burrito had fresh lettuce inside. It might have been a filler, but it turned out ok. Next time i’m in the area around the luchtime hour, I’ll stop in again. I can’t imagine this dive is every busy, which makes it almost perfect.

Chili Verde Burrito is best in town, hands down. Other food is good too, nice to have a drive-thru option here in Alpine. Come check this place out, especially if you’re driving on the 8.

It’s hard to imagine that one can find great Mexican food at a gas station. We ended up here because while traveling to San Diego from Phoenix we neglected to stop and get food in Indio. We had cranky kids and stopped at the first place with a drive thru. This was an amazing surprise. Being from Phoenix, we are very familiar with delicious, authentic Mexican food. I had the rolled tacos with guacamole and my husband had the carne asada burrito and the kids had a cheese crisp. Everything was so yummy. This will be our stop on the way in and out of town as long as San Diego is our destination.

This place is conveniently located off of the 8 in the same lot as a gas station. I’ve gone here three times, partly to check it out but mainly because they have drive thru. I mean, we already have great Mexican food here in Alpine so pretty much the only thing this place has got going for it is the drive thru aspect. But anyway, I’ve tried their carne asada burrito, carnitas plate, and cheese enchiladas. All of them were decently priced and decent tasting but nothing to get excited about. Another positive is that the service is very quick and the worker is very polite. So, if you don’t feel like getting out of your car and can settle for ok Mexican food then this is the place for you.
