Very nice service. I asked for broccoli instead of bamboo shoots and water chestnuts and there was no up charge and no problem. That was nice. The hot and sour soup was okay. You could tell they used old peas or veggies that didn’t make the cut for the soup. I guess that’s what some soups are for. The fried rice needs some love. It’s was barely okay. Just a little egg and veggie and you’re in business. Restaurant owners should know this kind of stuff. The chicken wing was good, maybe a touch on the oily side. Turn the fryers up a notch. The egg roll had zero flavor. My chicken and squid was okay. The chicken was fine but the squid tasted a little old. Not offensive just not fresh. The sheczwan sauce was okay and the veggies were al dente. One of the charms of Chinese food is free hot tea. I know businesses need to make money, but when they charge for hot tea, it’s a bit of a pet peeve of mine. It costs pennies and it’s greatly appreciated(at least by me). I wouldn’t go out of my way to eat here again but if someone wanted to go here, I wouldn’t object.

My wife and I(and kids eating it) have been picking up food from and having food delivered from House of Chen since 2009. We probably get $ 30 — $ 40 worth of food from them about every 4 — 6 weeks. It’s always been very good and we’ve never had a problem with quality or having it delivered or ready for pickup. Some of our favorites are the Pot Stickers, Crab Rangoons, Chicken Wings, Twice Cooked Pork, Egg Foo Youngs and Singapore Rice Noodle dishes.

So, deciding to pick up the the phone and call in an order ended up being a mistake. So unsatisfied with what showed up.

I read the Unilocal reviews and might have chose another but my brother said House of Chen is his favorite. This is not a five star restaurant in the classic sense, but it is way above average so I give five stars. The restaurant is immaculately clean, not what a previous review said. The waitress was polite, attentive and friendly. The food came out quickly. We had pot stickers and crab Rangoon appetizers that were delicious make with fresh ingredients. General Tso’s chicken was perfect. My wife enjoyed Mandarin chicken. I am visiting Alpharetta and would be a regular customer if we lived here. The waitress remembered that my sister in law likes her Teryaki chicken a certain way. Waitress was very sweet. Thank you!

I made a phone order for beef chow fun with the fat noodles specifically… I told them I did not want lo mein(skinny noodle) she says yes we have… as soon as I get home to eat it’s the damn skinny noodle I’ve been played just so they could sell me an extra plate! I called back Letting them know and sh tells me sorry we don’t have chow fun noodle!!! This place is pathetic and will do anything for that extra buck do not go here

This place is phenomenal. Hidden gem! It was recommended to me by my sister. Amazing Chinese food with no frills. Relaxed environment, and friendly service. Can’t recommend it enough! Btw: The Mongolian beef is delicious!

Food is always delivered fast and arrives hot. The sesame chicken is a favorite in our house, as well as the chicken fried rice. I’ve tried a few other dishes and none are ever as flavorful as the sesame chicken.

Newly moved to the Johns Creek area and looking for a new fav Chinese Restaurant. Received a House of Chen menu on my mailbox so I thought I would give it a try. Ordered the sweet and sour chicken with egg drop soup and fried rice. Breading on the chicken was good, not burnt or too greasy. Chicken was good not dry. The sauce was super watery which was a let down. And like other Unilocalers stated the fried rice lacked well… everything! They literally just took the white rice and tossed it in some soy sauce. Not one pea, carrott, onion or even an egg! I enjoyed the egg drop soup not too salty, and the egg roll was crunchy not greasy. I also ordered the crab Rangoon which was more like cream cheese puffs. Overall nothing spectacular, delivery was quick, driver was kind. But I’m still on the hunt for my fav Chinese dig!

ROACHES!!! I ate my last lunch here yesterday. As I was eating my shoe leather pepper steak, a roach crawled across my table. I called the waitress over and told her that I couldn’t finish my lunch because a roach was on my table and she just smiled and brought me my check. I’m not sure if she understood or not. As I was leaving the booth the roach crawled across the table again and I squashed it under my napkin. I guess they will understand when they clean the table. I went ahead and paid for the meal but that’s was the last time I will eat at this place. Disgusting.

I have been ordering from House of Chen for 10 years. The food is always good, and their service is always prompt. They deliver, and their prices are very fair. I really enjoy this restaraunt

Food if not that great. My kids prefer Panda Express over this place so you can imagine the quality. Portions are of decent size.

Not sure why this place is getting bad ratings. We’ve been going here for years and have never had a problem. Everything is delicious. I often get a beef and broccoli from chinese restaurants including pf changs and House of Chen’s is the best. Great service! Super fast for takeout! We will continue to go here, I’m so glad we found«our Chinese place»

Their food is cheap enough but their fried rice didn’t have anything in it other than being brown-colored from being fried with some soy sauce… there weren’t any veggies, or bean sprouts, or even egg. The crab rangoon hardly had any cheese in it and the other dishes were equally disappointing. I would not order from them again.

This is the best Chinese food in the area. We have ordered from here for the past year and never have been disappointed. The food has always been great and they promptly deliver to our house.

This is a nice place for lunch. The prices are reasonable. The food is definitely better than the Zen Fuji(half mile West, next the Publix on the same street), and better than the local Chin Chin. Their shrimps are good. Shrimps in lobster sauce is a good disk. I find their Singapore white noodle is the best in Alpharetta. The second best in Singapore white noodle in Alpharetta is Ming’s Café on Hwy 9, across the street from Walmart. General Tso chicken? I haven’t tried. Not my style. Environment is quite, which I enjoy. Several of my colleagues also go there often.

So we got the family meals. The crab rangoons were average and the egg rolls were tasteless. The hot and sour soup should be called pepper soup. General Tso chicken was awful and again, tasteless. My wide hot the orange flavored chicken… where was the flavor… actually where was the chicken??? Overall, another disappointing Chinese meal in Atlanta and one of the worst.

I ordered their food for delivery twice. And my boyfriend and his friends have as well. We just bought a house in Alpharetta over the summer, and so this was the closest place we knew of that delivered. The food came on time and the drivers were nice and polite. However, the food was bland in my opinion and nothing spectacular. I wouldn’t say I would NOT order from them again. This is still a convenient place to order from if needed and it’s not all that bad. Nothing a little extra salt or soy sauce couldn’t fix. :)

I have been going to House of Chen since the very day they opened. Living and working in the area I’ve visited for both lunch, dinner and take-out. Simply put this is our favorite take-out restaurant and have had most everything on the menu. While my wife enjoys the Kung Pao and House Lo Mein I am a big fan of the Egg Foo Yung, Sesame Chicken and General Tso’ Chicken. Always offered free egg rolls with our purchase and delivery is alway quick. They also cater to the customer as I always ask for home-made hot mustard and that my Sesame & General Tso’ Chicken be cooked crispy. I’ve never had a quality issue and while we do take out mostly, we find eating at the restaurant to be a nice affair, given its locale. Also — you will never have Buttermilk Shrimp as good as they make!

You disgrace the memory of General Tso with what you did to his fine chicken dish! We did a late-night order from this place. I had heard horror stories of this joint, yet we had no choice. At 9:30 pm, this was the only takeout Chinese around that was still open. I can’t comment on the inside of their restaurant or the service. I can say that the takeout was rather disgusting. My General’s chicken was made with the finest pieces of chicken cartilage and connective tissue. I enjoyed chewing it… over and over… until I managed to swallow it. The sauce was spicy but had strange stringy things mixed into it. Really gave me the heebie jeebies. The rice was hard and tasteless. Even large quantities of soy sauce couldn’t revive the taste.
