Rating is really ZERO. Not a fan at all. The number one thing they do is do a quick check of animals and then bring out «an estimate» of all the tests that need to be done. Took my cat there a few weekends ago as he was in serious distress. Explained that my cat came from a breeder and the cousin to my cat had a heart issue and died within 2 weeks. Both my cat and the one that passed away had the heart issue at 7 years old. Did not listen to me and said that I could take him home and watch him if I did not want to spend the approximately $ 1000 to do «tests.» Dr. Waters said he seemed fine. Diagnosis: vomited once and was panting. Took him home and he got worse. Took him to another emergency pet hospital immediately (after I call Dr. Waters to explain he got worse, to which she replied, «does anyone smoke?» I asked her what that mattered. Bottom line: hung up and went somewhere else. The next emergency center was incredible, even though the news was bad, in that they did whisked my cat back and said do not worry about paperwork, etc. Within 2 minutes, the diagnosis was a massive heart attack. I was told that even with treatment, IF they could save him, his prognosis was slim. My cat was in distress and I wanted him to be out of pain. They were caring, kind and helped me get my pet calm enough and he then he went peacefully with their help. All Pets simply did not care, completely misdiagnosed, did not LISTEN to what I told them and only wanted money. I will never, ever recommend them nor will I ever use them again.

If I could give them 0 stars I would. We took our dog here on a Sunday morning because our vet was closed. She was in obvious discomfort and distress… we wanted to make sure we got her to a vet ASAP.
We explained what was going on to the intake people and were shown to an exam room. About five minutes later a vet came in and asked us about our dog’s symptoms. As soon as we finished explaining he said that he really didn’t know what was wrong, but if we wanted X-​rays he had already written up an «estimate» for us. He opened a folder with a document in it and showed the pricing to us. It felt like we were buying a used car, not getting care for our pet.
As he continued the conversation he kept taking about how much things would cost. I was floored at how focused he was on talking about money… and not about helping our dog. Essentially the point was «we don’t know what’s up, but if you get your checkbook out we’ll gladly take the money».
No bedside manner, no compassion… they just want your money. Stay away!

I had a really bad experience here over the weekend. The receptionist and the vet tech were very nice, but Dr. Waters, the vet on duty was just awful. My cat was sick with diarrhea and vomiting, and she recommended $ 976 worth of diagnostic tests. When I declined, wanting to wait to see my regular vet on Monday, she litterally said «So do you want me to just put him to sleep?», looking at me like I’m the most heartless pet owner ever. I saw my regular vet the next day, she pretty quickly felt a strange mass in his belly, found a tumor with an x ray, and all while being very compassionate to both me and my cat. All Pets is close to my house, but I won’t go back there.

This place is a nightmare waiting for the next sucker to walk through the door. Terrible diagnosis, terrible care and ridiculous prices. Stay away and save yourself the heartache.

My dog had been coughing phlegm for the afternoon, and had thrown up a couple of times in one hour last night. We called ahead to find out if it was something that could wait, and they said with the vomit that it sounded best to check her out. We agreed and took her around midnight. The staff were all very friendly and helpful, and the wait was negligible. The vet said her vitals were strong but that the only other thing that might help diagnose was xrays. She isn’t lethargic and she still has appetite, so we decided against the x-​rays and have been monitoring her at home for more vomiting. Thankfully, she hasn’t vomited again, just coughed up phlegm several times during the night. I appreciate that the doctor didn’t force a sense of urgency on me while I was distressed and that he was very up front about the outcomes of the various options.
I’m sorry to read others’ stories about dogs who passed from issues here, and even sorrier that someone has marked them as funny. From my experience, I would take a dog here again in the event that vet offices were closed and it seemed a vet visit couldn’t wait until morning.

Over all I am glad that we had taken the dog here, but at the same time i feel like the money that we had spent was way way too much. She did have to spend the night for monitoring however after explaining what ha d happened to her i dint feel like they listened, i think they saw it as a way to run more tests and charge more money, and while i was a sobbing mess on the floor thinking my little baby was going to go into kidney failure, i agreed and signed off on to it all… but then went back and in the span of 5 minutes had 5 different options of payments a treatment options. and as i processed what had happened along with the time lone i started making things i knew were not necessary off of the list, but finny the price didn’t change much.
My dog had basically OD’d on her pain meds. She decided she wanted the rest of the brand new bottle we had just gotten from the vet and ate away the lid till she was able to get the bottle. This happened about 10 or 11 am and i found her about 8 pm. I called 3 vets and poison control which was useless and then decided she needed to be brought in. I knew she needed her blood drawn and that fluids wouldn’t be bad for her but somehow the visit cost me $ 800.00 for 2 rounds of charcoal, 2 bottles of fluids and a couple shots? It makes me mad thinking and looking at it now, but in that heat of the moment all i cared about was my baby and making sure she was OK. Like I said I am pretty sure that she would have just slept it off but in the long run of something would have come out of it and i could have prevented it. it would kill me,.
The vet was nice enough, the staff was awesome. i just really felt they took advantage of the situation.

STAY AWAY.
Long story short: Our cat would be dead if we had trusted Dr. Itkin.
Dr. Itkin and his staff…
— kept our cat for three days, and would have kept her longer if we hadn’t decided to take her elsewhere for a second opinion
— could not diagnose her
— performed an x-​ray and a sonogram that were so poorly done they had to be redone by our second-​opinion vet because they were unreadable (didn’t stop Dr. Itkin from «reading» them, though!)
— were rude, condescending, and insensitive
— told us our cat would probably need to be put down within a day of her pain meds wearing off
— charged us over $ 2000
— never called to follow up
We took her to another clinic for a second opinion. The new vet…
— diagnosed her almost immediately (called it a «textbook case»)
— performed surgery
— released her less than twelve hours later with clear instructions for follow-​up
— charged us $ 500
— called frequently for follow-​ups to make sure she was healing well, which she did (she’s now good as new)
So unless you want to be charged exorbitant prices for life-​threatening incompetence, STAY AWAY.

Pros: The staff is very compassionate and caring. The women at the front desk seemed genuinely concerned that my wife and I were so upset when bringing in our very ill cat.
Cons: Dr. Itkin, on the other hand, leaves much to be desired. As another commenter said, his bedside manner consists of trying to make small talk instead of discussing the issue at hand. During a phone call to get initial blood test results after an alarming x-​ray, I had to spend several minutes discussing a novel he was reading with him, when all I really wanted was to know what was going on. During another phone call (we have never actually met the doctor), he spent the majority of his time telling us how «intriguing» her illness was, and it was only after we asked directly that he told us that what he saw «is probably not a good thing.» Investigating her illness has seemed like an academic exercise to him – «How unusual! I’ve only seen this a few times!” – rather than an exercise in caring for a living creature, our family member. He also did not seem interested in educating us on how to best treat this illness. At one point, he also indicated that our cat was in desperate need of surgery, but that it would be a «bloody mess» and probably wouldn’t work. Not exactly the thing to tell someone who just wants to treat their pet.
We will be taking our cat elsewhere for a second opinion, because we don’t believe Dr. Itkin’s focus has been on her proper care. Also, the focus here seems to be more on making money off of concerned pet owners than it is on actually treating illnesses.

How does and elevated BUN and Alk Phos get diagnosed as a respiratory problem even when a chest xray was inconclusive and only showed mildly suggestive evidence of an aging lung? Why would you ignore the blood test? My dog died.

Grossly Overpriced and Short on Value. It feels like they take advantage of people who are in a bind with a sick pet. They DO provide a service and DO have advanced imagining equipment, but charge a high premium. We took our dog to another vet for a second opinion and received compassionate and thorough care for ”literally’ a thousand dollars less. $ 233 vs $ 1200. Same untrasound, same bloodwork. Use Forsyth Animal Hospital in Cumming as an alternative.

My parents took their 15-​month old, otherwise healthy Yorkshire Terrier to Dr. Itkin last weekend believing her to have pneumonia based on various symptoms. He was the second vet they saw over the weekend, the prior vet having given them a ludicrous explanation for the dog’s behavior, and they were hopeful that Dr. Itkin would provide the answers they were seeking because he had previously diagnosed another family pet that had been misdiagnosed elsewhere. Sadly, the negligence of the staff last weekend contributed to our family pet’s inability to receive the care she so desperately needed.
Dr. Itkin examined the dog but, as my mother describes it, was more interested in talking about his New Year’s Day dinner than in discussing the dog’s symptoms. Although my mother shared with him her belief that the dog was suffering from pneumonia (based on the fact that she had been shivering and panting uncontrollably and lost her appetite), Dr. Itkin chalked the behavior up to an eating disorder. When he offered to draw blood, my mother was somewhat relieved and hoped that this would shed some light on the situation.
The visit cost approximately $ 400, and when Dr. Itkin called much later in the day with the test results, he said that the dog’s red blood cell count was elevated but he was not concerned because of her young age. At that point, my mother had already taken the dog to yet a third vet and asked that the results please be faxed. Dr. Itkin assured her that he had sent the fax, but it was never received by the other vet. When my mother called Dr. Itkin’s office and requested that the results be re-​faxed, the administrative assistant said she would do so. AGAIN, they were not received. Upon learning this hours later, my mother called Dr. Itkin’s office for a third time to request that the blood results be faxed to the other vet.
In the end, it was determined that our dog indeed had pneumonia after an x-​ray of her lungs revealed that they were black. But because of the delay in receiving the treatment she needed, she went into cardiac arrest and could not be resuscitated. The other vet’s office received the blood results via fax as they attempted to resuscitate our dog, and they told my mother that the red blood cell count showed that our dog was severely dehydrated and, at the very least, Dr. Itkin should have administered fluids.
I blame Dr. Itkin and his staff for contributing to what could have been a treatable condition in our family pet. We are all heartbroken. My mother informed a member of the staff earlier this week that the dog had passed away, but we have not heard from Dr. Itkin or anyone else. There has certainly been no apology or offer to refund the money that was spent on nothing more than wasted time.
Based on past experience, we trusted Dr. Itkin and his staff to recognize what was wrong with our family pet and to administer the proper treatments. Sadly, this was a mistake on our part, and I don’t think we will ever understand how my mother — who has no medical or veterinary training — was able to suggest the proper diagnosis but Dr. Itkin failed to do so (and failed to recognize a problem in the blood results).
