April 2013 Banh mi for $ 4.99 comes with 2oz froyo(other options too, but I stopped listening when I heard froyo). Sold. But the best thing about this place is the woman who owns it, Tammy — so happy, friendly, and welcoming. I’m definitely going back to see her. The fact that you can get a cheap, delicious meal is just an extra incentive.

So I came in for a boba/bubble tea before work because I have come to hate refuge café’s drinks. The strawberry bubble tea wasn’t too sweet and it was so delicious. I then was looking at the froyo flavors and the super nice woman working offered me a sample of whatever I wanted. I had to get the sea salt caramel pretzel. My mind was blown. I will have to come here instead of Mixx for froyo from now on, because seriously, sea salt caramel pretzel froyo is EVERYDAYNEED! I like to sit in the window in the front to read in the sunshine and eat and drink.

What drew me to YoYo City was the big ol’ sign in the front that said I could get my froyo with a side of VIETNAMESESANDWICH. How could I resist? I walked in and the lady behind the counter(who was already helping others) immediately recognized my sandwich lovin’ ways and asked, «are you here for the sandwiches?» Hell yeah I am. So she continues with her welcoming routine. Thank you for being here. I want your business, or something along those lines. Super friendly. Anyway, you can get your $ 5 sandwich with either: 2 oz of froyo, a bottled water, or a can of pop so long as it’s not one of the special coconut cans. So she walks over to the sandwich side and sticks the bread in a toaster oven, just like the kind you might have at home. She lets the bread warm up for like 30 seconds and takes it out, so she can warm up the«grilled beef». In the same toaster. So she heats up a fistful of meat for 45 seconds and stuffs it in the roll with carrots, peppers, cilantro, and cucumber, I think. That’s it. No dressing. She cuts it in half, rolls it in wax paper, puts a rubber band around it, and sticks it in a bag. The sandwich itself was OK, kinda dry and not warm. The«grilled beef» didn’t taste grilled. It tasted like yesterday’s steak, if you took it out of the fridge and let it sit in a toaster for 45 seconds. Here’s the thing, you’ve got Phở Viet’s lean-mean sandwich machine down the street and they make a serious bahn mi, in a kitchen, and with some kind of magic sauce for a dollar less… For what it’s worth, YoYo City looks very nice and has a lot of froyo flavors and toppings for 49 cents an ounce. And they’re friendly. But if they want to differentiate themselves from the 100 other froyo places in Allston, it is prolly not going to be with their sandwiches.

Went to this place expecting nothing special because there were so many competitors to its offerings in the area. I decided to try their Boba tea on my first trip in to determine if I should bother trying their other products. It was absolutely delicious. I had the green tea boba and it was slightly too sweet for me as I’m used to very intense tea flavors but it was flavored nicely with a chewy, soft boba and Vietnamese red jelly add-in. The boba was good and the Vietnamese jelly add-in was a super nice touch. I think this place is not busy enough considering how nice the owner is, the quality of the products, and the welcoming space. I will definitely try their froyo and banh mi next time! They also have a loyalty program.

I have been to this place only one time so far but I am already a fan of this place. Unique flavors like taro, blue daiquiri, tons of toppings. The owner is so sweet too. She definitely made me feel welcome when I stopped by during bitterly cold days. I will come back to this place again with my son next time!

So happy that a good Fro Yo place has opened up a couple of blocks from where I live! You can tell the quality of this yogurt is much better than the Mixx yogurt. I have been there 3 times, and they keep changing flavors every time(while keeping my favorite– Cookies and Cream). Tammy, the store manager, is very helpful, accommodating, and always seems to have a smile on her face. Will be back soon, and very often.

When I moved from Richmond to Boston, the one thing I truly missed was SweetFrog(our local DIY fro yo chain). YoYo City has amazing interesting fro yo flavors, a full compliment of toppings, and is as comfortable and clean as could be. Tammy, the owner, is a joy to be around and her energy is so pleasant. Definitely my homebase for fro yo.

I went to YoYo City last weekend with my teenage son. The verdict from both of us is 4 thumbs up. The yogurt was really good and we loved all the topping choices. Several we have not seen anywhere else. My son works at Crescent Ridge in Sharon, so he is somewhat jaded about ice cream and frozen yogurt, but he really liked the place and their yogurt. We both thought the staff was especially friendly especially the owner. She is very sweet and helpful. This place is sure to be a success and we will be back!

Yo Yo City, which opened last Saturday on Brighton Avenue, is clearly destined to be the favorite yogurt shop of Allston Rock City. It is an oasis of cleanliness, purity and cheer in that sometimes sordid quartier. Its management and service could not be friendlier, more accomodating or more charming. The décor is like a spumoni, but with a yogurt tang. I know I’ll be back.

I have been to many frozen yogurt establishments, in particular self-serve, the past year as I have become somewhat obsessed… I just tried YoYo City today and it’s somewhere I will definitely be returning. The woman who owns it is very nice and happy/excited to be there. The interior is very colorful, and it’s sort of fun to be in there. As for the flavors, I didn’t try them all, but every one that I did I thought was pretty good. I usually get the original/california tart wherever I go, and this one here was one of the creamier, and better tasting ones that I have had. I also tried the espresso, and it was by far the best coffee flavored fro-yo I have had. I love self-serve frozen yogurt shops because I love the toppings, but I want to just eat the espresso plain, it was that good. As for the toppings, they were a little limited. There are the basic fruits(strawberries) and candies(although they were missing reese’s), but they also have more interesting toppings such as lychee berries, and mochi. The price is good, and you get a member card that they stamp with every purchase, until you get a free 10oz fro-yo. They are not the best, but it’s up there and I think that their yogurt is much better than Mixx down the street.
