Our House is a staple in my memories of BU in the early ’80’s. Nothing spectacular, but just a real comfortable place to drink with friends. Place to escape from the other bars/clubs in the area. I think of it often and fondly.

«It’s funny how beautiful people look when they’re walking out the door.» 4-stars for the now defunct Our House and its awesome $ 2 Brubakers, honey-hot wings, disgusting couches. You’ll be missed, old friend, you’ll be missed.

The wings and burger/waffle fry combo is a thing of beauty. One of the best happy hour specials ever. I miss this place a lot. Lots and lots of great memories. Love you guys a lot!

I haven’t been here since 2005, the year i graduated from law school. This review may be completely useless but read on as I take a trip down memory lane here… The food is cheap and good. Their cheapest beer during this time was a large bottle of Brubaker. For some reason these beers were always dusty when they pulled them out of the boxes. They played good music. My 3 star review is probably worth more than other 3 star reviews because i was kicked out of here and kind of caused a ruckus. In hindsight i was completely wrong and admit it now. Now can I come back? You guys shouldn’t have accused me of causing the fire alarm to go off by falling through the emergency exit door. It really wasn’t me. The truth is… it was my Korean friend James. I’m Taiwanese. Still exactly the same, i know. Anyway, this place a chill dive bar to hang out in and have some decently priced food. All my friends betrayed me after a couple of months and apologized and went back. They left me alone in The Avenue… ugh that place!

I’ll start with the one negative I can think of when it comes to Our House in Allston: the name can get confusing! «We’re drinking at Our House tonight! No, not like… our house… no… Our House… nah, not my apartment… OURHOUSE… THEBAR.» That said, this is one of my favorite places in Allston. Like the name implies, Our House truly does feel like home. The food is delicious, the service and staff are as friendly as any place I’ve ever been(everyone always remembers everyone!), the beer is cold, and the free board games are top notch. It never gets too crowded, and even on a slower night there is so much to do that you will never be bored. Plus: couches! It seems like Our House always has something going on. Whether it is trivia night, karaōke, a movie night, free breakfast buffet, or champagne giveaways, you’ll always wonder how they can afford to just give stuff out. Not that I’m complaining… Overall, Our House is a laid back, fun place to hang out with your friends, and they will always make you feel like you are home. Highly Recommended.

As far as a dive bar goes, this is pretty top notch. It’s low key, semi dirty(not in a bad way???), has fooseball tables(and tournaments!!) and is very well priced. The food is pretty standard, but yummy all the same. I love to take friends here for a low key good time when they’re in town.

If I wanted a poor liquor selection, poor beer selection, and board games, I would have stayed home. At least I have better music. There are plenty of better bars in the area that don’t charge a $ 10 minimum to your credit card. There are plenty of bars that don’t have bartenders that look they just walked out of a fake indie film, like Garden State. I honestly can’t think of a situation where I’d be excited to go to a place like Our House. I’d much rather invite some friends over to MY house, pop open some Pretty Things, and for gods sake put on some decent music and my experience would be both cheaper and better.

We went to this place for happy hour. The décor is reminiscent of a 1980’s Rec Room. It’s a damp, dark, basement with couches that cut off the space. I understand the name of the bar. There were only a few people there, and they all seemed to know each other. You definitely feel like you’re at someone’s house, you know, the guy who never left his folks’ basement? The waitress was friendly and knew the beers since they had no menu. The appetizers are two for one, but at least the wings are not worth it. I can’t say A-OK, but it gets a baseline OK. A lot of games for arcade fans.

If MY house looked like this place, I wouldn’t let people come over. Of course, if I had a bar, arcade, billiards and Foosball tables, maybe I wouldn’t be as concerned about what people think. At first glance, it looks like a bowling alley sans lanes. Oddly enough, I really like this about the place. It’s dark and a little grungy, but it’s the hole-in-the-wall feel. Some friends and I went in for trivia last night, which was actually fairly hard(we didn’t do so hot) but it was fun. The food’s wicked cheap($ 5 app, $ 8 burger) and really good; get the loaded fries, for sure, and I hear the burgers are definitely worth it. If you’re expecting phenomenal service, you’re already ruining you’re Our House experience. I had to order menus. Take that in for a second. My biggest complaint, however, is the bathroom. Everything was falling apart. I can deal with doors without locks, but I’m pretty sure the bathroom was built on a slant so it’s impossible to keep the door from swinging open without sacrificing an arm while you pee. I’m not even sure what came out of the soap dispenser was actually soap. I felt dirtier coming out. All in all, it’s part of the experience. It’s a chill place to grab a drink, some onion rings, and do a little Monday night trivia. I just wouldn’t put in too much effort getting dolled up to head over.

This place is cool. PROS: Food is good for a bar. I had the waffle fries and a club sandwich. The fries were very tasty and my sandwich was good. The honey barbecue wings had just enough spice and were very flavorful. Ask for Nicole the waitress. I’m talking Drew Barrymore in her prime(Post E.T., Pre Fever Pitch… More like Charlie’s Angels back in 2000). She was really nice and friendly to boot. I offered her a 100% tip to dance on the table and she refused… Class. CONS: You sit down and take in the drab dark ambiance of the place and then Nicole comes by to say hi… It’s the equivalent of chasing a diet Mountain Dew with a glass of Pernod-Ricard Perrier-Jouet Champagne. The contrast was just too much to take at times. I’ll be back.

As I’ve noted before in reviews, I’m not a fan of places with identity crises. As soon as you get into your Our House, walk to the center of the place and look around. 1) To your left, you’ll see what looks like a sports bar. A long bar to sit at with a few flat-screens right in your face. 2) To your right, you’ll see what looks like a dive bar. Kitchen-sized tables with board games strewn about. Also: PBRs. 3) In front of you in the center, you’ll see what looks like a lounge/nightclub. Long sofas combined with shin-high tables that looks like they’re made for bottle service. Of course, combining these leads to a place that doesn’t live up to its potential. The music’s too loud to watch a game or chill with Connect Four, it’s a little too well-lit and awkward to get up and dance, and with all this going on there’s not enough room by the actual bar to grab a drink. Maybe I’m too bourgeois now for college bars(oh God!), but I assume there are better places nearby.

I’m sorry, but I just don’t get what all the hype is about. Their food is not very good. Their beer selection is nothing to be proud of in such a beer-happy city. They were out of half of their drafts when I went. I’m all for dive bars… but Our House can’t decide it if wants to be a hip swanky hangout or a dirty dive bar. So instead you just get dirty couches. Hmmm…

The things I like about Our House are the same things I don’t like about Our House. If that makes any sense. When you step into Our House it feels as though you’re stepping into someone’s basement… which is cool, I like the basement feel. But it also kind feels like someone’s basement that hasn’t been cleaned in a while and that a bunch of college kids have been partying in for a couple nights in a row. The layout is really weird too… the front room is usually crowded while the weird middle room isn’t and neither is the back room with the fooseball tables. Also, the back bar is cool, but why does it have to be in such a small enclosed space? Puzzling. The beer selection here is decent, but the $ 2 Brubakers taste like piss. Also, I haven’t really found the crowd to be «hipster» as many people have said, but rather lots of BU undergrads. Overall, I’m ok with going to Our House if it’s with a group of friends that wanna go, but it’s not on the top of my list of places to hit up when I’m out on the town.

You know how people always talk about«our bar», kinda like the whole Cheers thing but in real life? Our House is that place for us, the bar we frequented 1, 2, 3 nights a week during college and continue to do so(albeit not quite as often… we’re gettin too old to go out like we used to). This place has it all: wicked chill atmosphere complete with soundtrack from someone’s Ipod, a bevvy of various seating options(stools, tables n chairs, couches, ledges), Naked Photo Hunt(my favorite game EVER), $ 2 Brubakers, a plethora of board games(the Jenga is the drinking version with all kinds of random stuff written on it), foosball/pool/other various video games to satisfy your add, running into at least one friend/acquaintance/coworker without fail, food if you’re hungry… basically the keys to life. For that alone, it deserves 5 stars, but I’ll give it a 4.5 to be objective: some of their mixed drinks/shooters really suck(I once ordered a birthday cake shot which I had had elsewhere before and was delicious, but this version was probably the grossest alcohol drink I’ve ever tasted, UGH), the line to get in can get ridiculously long and move too slowly at primetime, and sometimes going to a place where you know everyone isn’t necessarily a good thing(although not so much Our House’s fault). Now that I’m back in school, it may be time to start back up frequenting this place… feels like home :)

This place intrigued me for quite some time and I finally decided to check it out a while back with a friend one evening and we both loved it. I’m not sure if it was the comfortable couches, the non-crampness of the place, the drinks or the combination of everything but we felt very at ease and were delighted with the few hours we killed there. We ordered drinks at the main bar and could talk without being bothered by any loud music. People were playing board games, texting and chatting away around us and we even got to test out some future appetizers that they were thinking about introducing. They were delicious and our feedback was taken very seriously which shows that they care and that is awesome! Great place, I highly recommend it, especially since they have a pretty good selection for both liquor and beers! The only thing keeping it from a perfect 5-star rating is the fact that street parking in that area can be a total nightmare…

Well, you can get cheapo beer. Crappy crappy beer. Free mints by the door. Tap selection pretty good. Weekends are horrible, takes forever to get your drink. Thursdays, too. Spacious— various pockets of space, so usually can find a seat and/or table at some point. Not really for the older crowd. And by old I mean 22+.

I’m a fan of Our House because they provide board games to patrons. My group of ten 24 – 30 year olds had a blast hanging out on the couches and playing«old school» board games.

I love this place. Even though when you mention it, some types snub their noses because it’s a «college hangout» and resembles your mom’s basement or your college dorm room. Yes, there are beaten couches all over the place, as well as tables and chairs. The crowd is young, but not pretentious or retarded. Foosball in the back, some arcade games and a juke. You can’t beat the prices($ 2 pints and cheap burgers and apps). The bartenders are wicked nice and will make your mixed drinks powerful if you dare them. There is a good list of beers on tap, too. I’ve had the Teriyaki chicken wings and a burger there. Both great, hearty bar food. Excellent to soak up the suds. The location is stellar. Right down the street from my apt :) but also right off the T(Green B line — Harvard Ave station). Last time I went there, I had gone to the Joshua Tree nearby and it was haughty and packed. When I asked what the wait for a table was, the ‘d just laughed in my face. I left and took my gang to OHW, where we were welcomed in, got a great table with a nice view of their two flat screen TVs. The waitresses are nice and joke around with you. They’re always hanging around to help you out or answer a question. The best thing about OHW is the atmosphere. Very chill, very relaxed and welcoming. I wouldn’t feel sketchy coming here alone, since you end up talking to the people around you, every time. Monday nights they have trivia at 9pm. Other nights, it’s Simpsons/Family Guy marathons or Foosball tourneys. On important game nights, the sound is up on the TVs and everyone brings their Red Sox/Patriots/Celtics gear. The waitresses dress up and everyone has fun. Weekends, there is cheap brunch buffet and wicked cheap burgers on Sundays.

Half priced appetizers and burgers from Monday to Friday, 4 to 7. That, right there, is a good deal. Hipsters can come in, drop $ 10 for fried calamari and a bacon cheeseburger, and eat it in on the comfortable couches in the low-ceilinged lounge or outside on the porch. Either way, you get television, pitchers of ice cold water and attentive service. Back in college, I was here for this deal once a week, and after going back last night, neither the prices(low) and the quality of food(decent) have changed.

It might warrant four stars, but since we were really too old for the crowd I give it three. Our waitress was a sweet young woman in very hip clothes and glasses to match. She took good care of us. But the crowd itself didn’t seem very hipster, just college-aged. The drinks were cheap, and so was the food. It was decent bar grub, burgers and fries and such. As for the dive bar description that others have given… as a newbie to Boston, if this is considered a dive, then Boston is a pretty high class joint. It was clean, reasonably lit, and I wouldn’t be afraid to sit on the sofas. There was a weekly foosball tournament going on, and the crowd seemed to take it pretty seriously. And the music was pretty good. Not sure if it was a jukebox or some employees iPod, but we liked the eclectic mix. We happened upon this place by accident. I don’t hang out in this part of town much, but if I’m around again, I wouldn’t mind going back.
