Flynn & O’Hara

The socks are the worst. Over priced and poor quality. Too narrow, shrink quickly, and fall apart by the end of the school year. Need to make wider calf socks. Shipping price is high too.
Also, if someone comes to your school to measure you, order a size or 2 bigger than what they recommend.

If Dickens would have had a Flynn & O’Hara in 1859 things may have sounded more like this: «The store had the best of people, but the worst of prices, it was the age of uniformity, but it was also the age of the almost $ 50 dollar sweater that is cheaply made and will fall apart after one school year.»
That last part would have left Dickens in a state of incredulity the same as it does me.
The skinny on this place essentially breaks down to two things:
1. If you shop here during the back half of August you’re an idiot because the place is mobbed by 10am everyday — all day from all of the procrastinators. The staff here is very nice but there never is enough of them so if you don’t know exactly what you want in the exact size that you want expect to spend some quality time here.
The other eleven months out of the year the place is ghost town. Go then.
2. There are no such things as sales, clearance items or discounts.
Everything is lovingly full price year round. So if you «follow the book» you have no choice in the LV but to get your parochial school uniforms from here. The principal at the school that my children currently attend is fairly liberal in that as long as the color is the same she doesn’t care as much where certain things come from where as the principal/​school they attended prior practically was having a strip search daily to ensure that the F & O logo was on everything.
I mean this is racket so bad that if Gotti were alive he would have gotten out of skimming from the trash collectors to go into school uniforms because it’s an even more profitable monopoly.
Five star staff but one star merchandise quality mixed with negative star pricing.
