Allenwood Motel

We arrived and it’s a typical old type motel. $ 59 /​room. Room is larger than most. Outer Room was very clean. Bathroom needs updating pretty bad. Some mold on the caulking around the tub in the corners. One of the rooms had a couch the other a table and chairs also. Mini fridge and microwave in the room. AC worked well. Beds seem new and were firm. Did the bug check under the sheets and were very clean. Bottle opener mounted on bathroom doorjamb.

I just needed a break from driving, and stopped at Allenwood for all of about 8 hours (still $ 69). It was a thoroughly pleasant throwback, clean, affordable, and quiet. I got in about 1AM, the manager was about as pleasant as could be expected. and they do take credit cards now.
I stripped the beds and didn’t see any signs of bed bugs. though the sheets and pillows were worn (and super soft!), the mattresses were fresh and clean. There is a larger-​than-​average mini-​fridge, and small microwave. No public ice machine, but the manager can fill your ice bucket if you need it. Great water pressure!
Allenwood is a pretty low-​frills experience, and kind of out of the way, but it was exactly what I was looking for. If you’re looking to avoid bland corporate hotels or just want to spend less than $ 100 on a hotel, Allenwood is definitely worth checking out.
I could easily see spending an extended period of time there if I ever needed to hide out!
