Eagle Plume’s is a local staple that has been around for almost a century. The pieces in this place are extremely rare, high end, and unique. Because of this, Eagle Plume’s demands a premium price for all of their items. If you are the type of passerby who happens to have deep pockets and an affinity for Native American/Western Plains pieces then stop in here. If you’re like me and you’re using Unilocal to find trading posts and opportunities for thrifting then I would suggest you continue your search. Although I will say that if you happen to be in the area then you should at least stop to witness all of these rare items.

It’s fairly rare, but sometime I wish I could hand out more than 5 stars. This is one of those times. Eagle Plume’s is incredible. The front room of this old log cabin houses an incredible collection of historic American Indian art. One of my friends visiting from D.C. told me that Eagle Plume’s has a better collection that the National Museum of the American Indian in Washington, D.C. I believe it. They have gorgeous hand-woven baskets hanging from the ceiling in the front room that are hundreds of years old. Antique kachinas and other dolls/figurines and pottery line the walls with index cards tacked underneath with historical information. There are more historical items for you to investigate upstairs. In the back room is the shop. They have some of the most beautiful fetishes I have ever seen. When I have the cash(I think they are really reasonably priced, I just don’t have the money to buy art atm), I will definitely indulge myself and finally take home one of these beauties. Same with the pottery… gorgeous. They have lots of really nice sterling and semi-precious southwestern jewelry. Not of all of it is traditional, some of it is quite modern, if that’s more your speed. Next time you get away from the heat to take a drive down the peak to peak, make sure to stop in here. You won’t be disappointed.
