Allendale Bar & Grill

This is one of my favorite local spots! I’ve been coming here for about a year and a half now, so this review seems long overdue. This place is conducive to many different types of events; I’ve come here on dates, family celebrations, and live music shows. Also, all genres of food are represented and prepared equally as well. I usually order the salmon, but my companions have ordered beef, as well, and they have been very satisfied. Overall, a great place to kick back with friends and family when you want something casual, low-​key and convenient. Finally, this place should earn «historic landmark status» simply due to the fact Babe Ruth used to be a frequent visitor — if only these walls could talk!

Was from out of town, did not get any service while walking in. I thought that this place was a decent place from the reviews, but from the experience I had here, I will never come back. The service at the bar was awful, had to sit at the bar waving while trying to order food. If I could rate this place a negative number I would. Also the food was god awful, hope this was a good enough review for is place, because it will be the only one from me.

My b/​f and I were in the area so decided to try it out. We had one drink and left. The bartender was very nice but I was really shocked to see the condition of this establishment. The glass doors on the cooler behind in the bar were filthy. I don’t think they can even be cleaned. I guess the owners just don’t care. We left decided not to eat bc that kitchen must be a disaster.

Service was great. Food so so. I got Château Steak which wad described as almost Filet. First of all the 4 little slices of London Broil were hidden by the mushrooms and onions. It was also cold. Son got bland fish and chips and wife got decent burger.
Won’t be rushing back. Again, service great and atmosphere good.

Went for my first time there for the Sunday brunch. Great atmosphere and friendly. Fresh made omelet was awesome. Fresh carved turkey was super and all the rest very delicious. Moderate price but top notch. I’m a fan for sure.

I’ve been going to AB&G for years, and it’s always a great experience. The staff and service are always fast and friendly even during the busy hours. I usually go for one of their soup specials or the french onion to start. The wings and philly cheesesteak egg rolls are also very tasty! When it comes to the main course, the sizzlin’ steak and the french dip are outstanding-​both extremely flavorful with perfect portions. They also make some tasty pasta dishes, so basically you can’t miss here. Can’t wait to go back.

Haven’t been here in years. It was nice to see that the place was pretty much the same and the food was awesome. The staff, including managers, were friendly and attentive. Food was served promptly with a proper presentation. Nikki, the bartender, waited on me and was pleasant and you could see that she enjoys people and her job.
I had the Grilled Balsamic Chicken Panini Layered with Fresh Mozzarella, Portobello Mushroom, Roasted Peppers & Basil Served with Potato Salad. It was priced at $ 10.99. The portion size was right and the food was fresh. Very tasty. The potato salad had plenty of potatoes and other vegetables in it as well. And they didn’t overdue the mayo in it either. I would get this meal again.
The menu was simple and had a good selection to choose from. The Wednesday lunch special menu was simple and well organized with good choices as well.

I wish I didn’t even have to give a star to this place. I’ve been going to AB&G for 22 years and it used to be the best place around. Consistent, good quality food for cheap. Now I’ve gone there 3 times within the past month and every time we’ve gone we not only had a problem but the food portions were DISGUSTING. I knew the quality had gone down hill ever since the owner’s death and it was passed off to his kids… But the food the last time was so small and over cooked we went for another dinner elsewhere. Now it’s just expensive, small portions and terrible. Such a shame because it’s a great location. Perhaps stopping in for one drink would be okay, but never again for the food. Sorry to say we will not be returning. (Also check out the non published reviews. They all point to how sub par this place is).

Great wings, and drinks specials on the regular. Always a fun time here I have been going here for over 10 years and it only gets better year after year! Every Monday is Monday night wings. They have both wing deals and drink specials. During football season they do a raffle /​giveaway at half time. The prizes are pretty good things, jerseys, tees, baseball bats, mug /​shot glass sets etc. Always good food and fun time with friends at ABG. I would highly recommend checking this place out.

Great local bar and grill. Been owned by same family for generations. Tons of great history and great food!

Wonderful spinach salad with house dressing but request avocado. Great atmosphere too!

Fantastic place with super management. Unfortunately on one occasion this summer there was a problem with the kitchen and the orders were not able to be completed so we ordered off a very limited menu. Regardless of this, the food we chose was excellent and prepared quickly.
Even so, the manager came out and apologies profusely for the problem in the kitchen, gave us a $ 50 voucher for a future visit, and cut our bill by more than half for the food we did order.
Ever since this, we’ve gone out of our way to eat at the AB&G. They’ve got a loyal customer for life.

Drinks over priced, very loud atmosphere and food was just ok.
Sorry but the truth.

Do you like brunch? Do you like good food? Do you like an all-​you-​can-​eat buffet? Then go to ABG on Sunday mornings! They have a master of omelettes there as well as an excellent selection of brunchish food. It also happens to be an endless supply of eggs and bacon. It’s perfect to fill up on.

Been in a few times, and every time I have not been disappointed. Great food, very nice and attentive staff, and even better prices on drinks. Food is amazing and they have a wide variety of beers on tap. Definitely worth a check out if you’re in the area.

This is probably my first time walking into a place and refusing to eat or drink anything.
The ambiance here sucks.
We were going to sit at the bar BUT…
It’s brighter than an operating room and unfortunately that brightness allowed me to see how filthy the place is.
The ceilings are probably higher than they need to be so you can’t hear a fucking thing other than and melding of EVERYONE“S conversation. You CANNOT hear the person next to you.
It stinks of burnt popcorn …
The bar itself was very unappealing and had some raised butcher block thing every 2 feet or so — IF we ate at the bar, one of use would be eating on that block and one of us on the bar… weird… no thanks
I wanted to leave at this point but my bf insisted since we drove all the way here, lets stay… SO we got a table…
We were sat smack in the center of the room and surrounded by tables upon tables of children. I felt as though we were seated in the center of a children’s birthday party.
Then if all this wasn’t bad enough, the tables are right on top of each other. This kids next to me were making paper airplanes and throwing them at each other — grazing our table. Satins child was seated DIRECTLY behind me and he kept standing on his chair — then getting off — running — hitting the corner of our table…
On our other side was a family with 5 kids — the dad throwing paper balls across the table and onto the floor.
Then our app came — who had an appetite at this point?
I just wanted to GET THE F*CK OUT asap.
I feel like I need a shower now.

Their create your own salad is awesome and such generous servings that I almost always have enough left over for the next day’s lunch. My coworkers and I come here on occasion for lunch. The buffalo calamari is also a favorite of mine here.
It is pretty much your standard pub. It has a local feel and food is great. They give you popcorn at each table to munch while you’re ordering.

It’s always packed with locals, and there are always games on the multiple television screens. They have two bars, one on the first floor, and one on the second. I think the second floor area is usually less packed than the first, so if you would like a quieter place in the evening to catch up with buddies, then definitely go for the second floor. Come here for drinks and the social aspect, and not really the food.
Thursday Night Trivia is a fun way to kill time with friends. Prizes are usually things like mini-​coolers or gift cards.
Do avoid on nights before major holidays, as those are when every college kid in town stops by to reunite with their high school buddies. I’m a big fan of personal space, so I don’t come here on these nights haha.
The food here is eh; I wouldn’t risk eating anything other than the standard bar & grill foods. For instance, the burger here is pretty reliable. I once made the mistake of ordering Fish & Chips, which were really bad; it was like 90% batter, and 10% fish. On top of that, it was bland.
They have a good selection of drinks here and are priced pretty fairly. Ask about their specials.
**The service here is very good. The wait staff and management are all terrific, and incredibly friendly. Tip well!

This place is a staple. I’ve been coming here since I was 4 or 5, and have seen it go from one small bar room to 3 levels and another location in Mahwah. The food is hit or miss. I have had some surprisingly good fish and beef for reasonable prices. Other times are average and on occasion a total miss. Always good enough to come back. The people that come and the staff are down to earth. Its a nice escape from the rat race. Never feel pressured but service is prompt with an appropriate sense of urgency. The family that owns and runs these locations are so nice and friendly. I wish Unilocal had the.½ rating as 4 is a. bit much but a 3 is not fair. Drinks are. good and
tenders are. usually willing to experiment. At MBG. they will make me a jalapeño martini that is awesome.
Down home good vibe. Come and relax.

Wow if I could give this place less than 1 star I would. Everything was fine except the food, and if I’m going out to eat then the food is my top concern.
I ordered the Château steak and I was told it’s the «best thing on the menu.»
1) It was supposed to be medium and it came out well done.
2) It was so dry you could use it to mop a spill.
3) Brocolli was way overcooked, completely unseasoned, dry, and tasteless. The most pathetic brocolli I have ever had.
BUT WAIT — there’s more!
4) My baked potato, which i was promised would have sour cream, butter, bacon, and the whole 9, came completely raw and undressed. It was not even edible, how do you serve this?
For 50 bucks? I should be getting paid to eat here, what a pathetic meal.
