Both of our kids attend Carpe Diem in Allen, one in the preschool and the other in the after school program. First and foremost the facility is safe and clean. Equally important is the caring and loving staff. The student to teacher ratio is the perfect size for group learning with individual personalized attention. And moreover, the staff treat your children like their own and you an extension of their family. They care about your individual needs and make arrangements that work for everyone.

Like most parents, we scoured the area for the ‘perfect’ preschool. After many school visits, lots of research, and a nice excel sheet to pull it all together, we chose Carpe Diem for our daughter. We couldn’t be happier. Here are the factors for our decision: 1) Small ratios for teachers: kids. I believe this leads to happy teachers, less burnout, and more individual attention. My daughter was at home with a nanny for 2+ years, and this was a very important part of my decision 2) Small groupings, in terms of age-range. Many schools have a one year spread in their classrooms. Here, the kids are within a 6 month age-cohort. Not only is this better for safety, but obviously better for learning 3) Food/Nutrition: Great nutritional program. Not just ‘starches’, and it’s all provided/inclusive 4) Webcam: Though you will find yourself watching your child as your confidence and trust builds, it’s great for grandparents, and for those times that you really miss your child. Wish there was sound, but it’s a great comfort! 5) Teacher standards: my daughter currently has a master’s educated teacher. Not many schools have such highly-educated teachers. Big plus for me. 6) Daily educational curriculum: Some schools have music 2 – 3 days a week, spanish 2 – 3 days a week etc. My child is going to school half-days and receives computer, music and spanish education daily in her mornings. Big sway factor for me! There are many other pluses– see for yourselves. These were the ones that ‘tipped’ the scales. I was very sure I wanted a Montessori school when I first looked into schools but am very pleased that we found Carpe Diem. Yes, it’s pricier than some places, but not by much, and you get what you pay for.
