This is a nice little park. The sign in front says to keep dog on leash, but that’s only on the path. There is a nice open space where the dogs can go off leash(no gates or boundaries though) and run up the hillside, down to the tiny creek, or the nice wooded open area. The canopy keeps it cool so it’s nice in the summer.

Monticello Park is hidden in the Beverly Hills neighborhood(nice name) of Alexandria. It’s easiest to access the park from West Glebe Rd. to Russell Rd. to Beverly Dr. The park is primarily known for«birders» since plenty of warblers, hawks, owls, etc. are supposed to inhabit the park. I just take my dogs there and they enjoy running around the trails and walking the riverbed. There isn’t much water to play in and the trails aren’t that long, but it’s a nice place to get away from the more populated dog parks, i.e. Shirlington. The trees keep the place cool and there are some nice hills and long stretches of area to play fetch if you are lucky enough to have a dog that retrieves balls, unlike mine.
