The food might not technically be 5 stars.(More like 4, based on one time there.) But the place couldn’t be prettier, right on the river, watching the planes fly into National. And the service was great. 5-star experience overall.

I came here for New Year’s celebration. It offered 4-course meal for $ 75/person. The food was so delicious. I had salmon for appetizer, mushroom cream soup, black Angus fillet mignon, and all-you-can eat dessert/pastries. Our waiter served food samples in between the course. The staff were so friendly and provided a great service. The manager came to every table to chat with customers. They also had a DJ in the house. It was a fun experience to celebrate New Year here.

I just hosted a second corporate holiday event at Indigo Landing and it was ~ again! ~ a total success! Huge thanks to Sharon, the Catering Manager, for making everything so very easy and so very pleasant. My only challenge was picking which menu items to serve ~ just like last year, everything on the menu sounded so delicious and, truly, dinner was outstanding. Kudos to the chef and esp that buttermilk fried chicken! I had slightly hesitated in picking fried chicken for a more formal gathering, but as Sharon predicted, everyone was just raving about it. The salmon was so moist… the fresh hot-house tomatoes with balsamic, total yum… great wine selections… and the desserts were decadent. You know things are going well at your event when you hear coworkers complimenting the mashed potatoes and vegetables ~ woah! In 30+ years of organizing office events, never have I heard that! Our servers for the evening were so very helpful, efficient, kind, and knowledgeable; Sharon made sure that everything was simply perfect. The Sun Porch was as lovely as we remembered from our last gathering and it is the perfect size for our just under 50 group. And that beautiful nighttime view of DC makes for the loveliest backdrop on a winter’s evening with holiday lights dancing in the background. Several of the ladies in our group have agreed ~ we have to go back for one of their Sunday brunches ~ can’t wait!

Great location, bland menu, variable service. We came to IL directly from National Airport, and arrived earlier than our normal happy hour because of flight schedules. The view across the river to the airport is the best thing about the restaurant. We sat at the bar with a few existing patrons and waited. And waited. There was no bartender in evidence for quite a while. When he eventually showed up he eventually got around to taking our order by asking«do you know what you’d like?» in a bored voice without even looking at us. When we asked a question he was short with us. We felt like we were a bother to him. We came *this* close to walking out, but the view kept us there. The happy hour offerings were pretty typical: four drafts of a decent variety, one red wine, one white. After a drink at the bar we moved to the dining room and the view only got better as the sun set. The menu is decent but completely boring: all the typical meat, fish, pasta you would expect. Our risotto ball appetizer was clearly frozen: one section was still ice cold. Our salads were solid if not imaginative. The mushroom soup was, once again, just what you would expect from a chain restaurant, which IL isn’t. Our waiter, in refreshing contrast to the bartender was friendly and efficient, and had a couple of valuable pieces of advice. IL would probably be ideal for bringing your grandparents or relatives from Ohio: totally expected, nothing out of the ordinary. I just hope they get a new bartender.

I still like this place, but PLEASECHANGETHEMUSIC. Whatever station is on is the worst mix of music on life support ever. Linda Ronstadt followed by bad Jazz and Muzac by the Beatles! 2nd request, your lunch price point is too high. 12 to 14 bucks for a burger? Make a good 10 dollar lunch and I promise I will bring friends. Lastly, ditch the surf and turf burger! Make it surf and turf sliders(one of each would rock!) Otherwise, Good bar selections and a nice hangout.

Brunch review On Sunday I wanted healthy all the way and my boyfriend as usual would only consider a buffet because who wants restrictions on their brunch? This brunch pp is $ 35 which includes one beer or champagne or mimosa with the food. The location is ideal coming from Arlington or Alexandria, it is very easy to get to and free parking is plentiful. The restaurant itself is OLD. Most of the patrons at the bar and sitting in were also older. There was live music which was nice, a woman singing with her guitar she was good. There are comfy looking seats with low tables, booth seating and regular tables. As people mentioned the views are okay, not great by any means. You see the Washington Monument over the water but mostly you see(and hear) airplanes landing at the airport. I am much more in love with a rooftop view over a ground view. The food spread is impressive. There is not a lot of food but the choices they have are great. But fair warning I felt the need to inspect my scrambled eggs, utensils, etc for cleanliness! This place feels like an afterthought. Like they built it to host events/banquets then thought«let’s put a restaurant here». The food is a bit of a walk! You walk back out towards the exit/hostess stand down a hallway past the bathrooms, it’s weird and you run into people easily around the corners. There was an omelette station, waffle station, dessert table, mussels, chicken, pasta, nutella crepes, bacon, sausages, etc. I saw no smoked salmon. The food was not good. I ended up walking away from the omelette station because I saw no eggs only those buckets of premixed eggs. I really only like my omelettes made with no oil(only non stick spray please) and I liked to see the organic brown eggs cracked in front of me(no food poisoning here thanks). I will not return but maybe you’ll like it since there was nothing plainly awful about it? So try it out…

Came here to celebrate my husband’s birthday with extended family, and the location was a good compromise for those who live in NoVa and MoCo. We had a beautiful view at the back of the restaurant; the patio was not open on the day of our visit. We came for brunch, and there is no option except the buffet. We were not informed of this(yes, I could have researched better, but I also don’t think it’s that much to ask for waitstaff to review basic information with guests). Instead, our waiter disappeared after serving drinks and we had to flag him down to ask about protocol. The brunch was just ok. Fair amount of offerings, including standard breakfast fare with an omelette and waffle station. Other choices included spiced shrimp, mussels, beef tenderloin tips, salad bar, and and desserts. My eggs were cold, so I went back for an omelette that ended up overcooked. My husband said the mussels were good if under-seasoned, but the shrimp were dry. I think it’s especially lazy for waitstaff who are not serving meals to not check in regularly with guests. Members of our party were not offered drink refills or coffee. We also had to ask for plates to be cleared as guests got seconds(not because it was that good, mind you, but because we had struck out in finding something good the first go-around). Inattentive waiter and underwhelming food = not a likely chance of returning.

I really love the location, setting and décor. Great for a drink by the riverside. The wooden deck overlooking the boats and river is ideal. But the bar service is terrible. I went on Saturday night and Sunday afternoon, and both bartenders were increadably slow and rude!

I can’t believe I just discovered this place, after living in the area for so long! Going here feels as if you’ve gone out of town! Totally serene. I mostly enjoy it for the ambience but the food and drinks are good too.

My review for Indigo Landing is for their buffet Sunday brunch. I came here with a group of friends last Sunday after a long night on the town in DC. The service starts at 11AM and cost 35 dollars per person. With this price you also have one complementary mimosa or champagne drink. We were informed that a Bloody Mary is not included under this option. To really take full advantage I highly recommend to sitting outside on their patio like we did. The views of the Potomac, Washington Monument, Capital Building and plans landing at DCA are fantastic. I have learned mostly that places with awesome views end of using that advantage as a distraction for a lack of equaled quality in food. For what we had I would say this is not the case at Indigo Landing. Regarding the patio, if you plan on bringing your dog they must sit in the grass just off the side as the park does not allow them at your table. The food quality at the buffet was average/above average. For me the highlight was the white cheddar grits. They were equally both satisfying and filling. You have to be careful to not fill up on these grits to get your money’s worth though and there are plenty of other tempting options. Some of the other options included: a waffle bar, omelet station, salad bar, dessert bar and pastries. My only disappointment came in their use of the mass quantity boxed eggs for scrambled and omelets. I would imagine most people probably would not be able to tell the difference. I understand the price of eggs recently has skyrocketed and most restaurants will use this ingredient for such occasions. I however became burnt out while in college on these eggs substitutes and still have not been able to eat them since. Overall though we had a great time with a great combination of food and views for a great value and would be a great spot to bring any out of town guest. Thanks!

We were excited to go here after passing it so many times on GW Parkway. The view was wonderful on this perfect summer day as we watched the small sailboats on the river. The host was attentive. However, as the host seated us, it was clear that two waiters on duty didn’t want to wait on our table. They said something among themselves, and pretended not to notice us for a full 40 minutes. My lady and I enjoyed each other’s company, but finally I had to go back to the host to ask for help, whereupon he quickly got one of the waiters to do his job. The waiter, Anwar, came to take our drink and food orders. By that time we had almost decided to leave; there was a lame excuse-filled apology but no attempt to make things right. The excellent bartender saved the moment with some fine rum drinks. Another server efficiently brought in the appetizers, but we had to scrounge at the waiters’ station for silverware and napkins. Dinner was very tasty and well presented, but sadly we were so put out by the terrible service that we didn’t enjoy it as we should have. The atmosphere is great, the drinks are expensive but excellent, the food is a bit pricey but not outrageous if it was accompanied by good service. We didn’t want to stay for dessert because of the service, and for the first time in memory, on a $ 123 tab, I didn’t leave a tip. It took me about 10 minutes to decide whether or not to do that, but the service was so poor that I just couldn’t reward it in any way. Will we come back? Perhaps. It’s a really nice place. We won’t recommend Indigo Landing to others until going again to see if the bad service was just an anomaly. Other recommendations give 4 and 5 stars. We would have given at least a 4 had the service been up to par.

This is a nice place to catch a view of DCA airport with a cold adult beverage. The service was pretty slow when we were there, so good thing we weren’t in a rush. We ordered the seafood nachos and crab and artichoke dip. Both appetizers were very tasty. I would definitely go back for the view. I am not in love with the restaurant, but they have a pretty awesome location and easy and free parking.

View was gorgeous, like a dream. You can see the calm waters of the Potomac River and the sunset rays reflecting off the water. I’ll never forget that beautiful sight. Unfortunately, the service was lacking. It was so slow. We waited it seemed 45 minutes for the appetizers and salad. Maybe it was shorter or longer, but my companion and I talked so much I didn’t really keep track of the time. When all was said and done, we spent 3 hours in this restaurant because the food took so long coming out. And the waiter never gave us complementary bread the way the other tables got. I usually tip 20%, but sorry I had to give this guy 10%. The food was average. I got a shrimp salad, and it was nothing memorable. I would not go here again. You can just pack a picnic and park here and eat on the lawn outside of the restaurant. Cheaper and you don’t have to wait forever for the food.

I have been to Indigo Landing for dinner which was great, but just recently went for Easter brunch. I was a little disappointed when I found out they only had a brunch buffet on Sundays, until I walked into the room where all the food was set up. There were at least 5 or 6 tables with 3 – 4 dishes on each, a custom omelette bar, a waffle station, a carving station, a DIY salad bar, fresh fruit, and tons of mini desserts. I could have stayed here all day for all 3 meals. Nothing tasted mass produced or like it had been sitting out all day. For $ 35/person, this is a great deal for a quality bottomless food brunch! It also includes a complimentary mimosa or glass of wine. Coffee and OJ available too. What really makes this a solid 4 star is the back patio and scenery while you dine. You back up to the Potomac with a great view of the plans coming and going from Reagan. You can come in for a nice sit down dinner, or for a pitstop to grab a beer if you’re on a bike ride/run down the trail.

I just realized that I did not post my review. I got married at Indigo Landing last August. We had 50 guests and used the Charleston Room for our wedding and reception. I don’t know why there are only 3 stars on Unilocal of this place. Don’t pay attention to negative reviews. Go and experience for yourself. I would plan an event there again at the drop of a dime. The staff is very helpful. I would like to thank everyone at Indigo Landing that made August 29, 2014 one of the most memorable days of my life. Words cannot express my gratitude!!! Even though I was caught up in being a Bride and all that comes with it, Sharon(private dining manager) I thank you for your patience with all my questions, the emails and phone calls, you were always pleasant and kind and was very helpful in assuring me that I had nothing to worry about. I am sure you caught on that I am very meticulous and particular and we seemed to work well together to help my vision come to life. I would like to thank the Bartender I was able to have one drink that evening and it was very good and everyone that did make it to the bar had no complaints. I would like to thank the Chef. Although I ate my food so quickly I do know that the Pasta Salad with Shrimp is my favorite and I will be back for it. I want the Chef to know that Everyone commented on the food and enjoyed every bit of it. One of the comment was«This is the best food I have ever had at a wedding reception!» Thank you so much Chef and I plan on returning. I would like to thank the waitstaff who worked so hard to make sure we(myself and my husband) and my family and friends had everything thing we needed from beginning to end. I appreciate the time you took to cut up my cake and box them up, that was so helpful. I did notice that waitstaff working and I did speak to one or two of you. The waitstaff team was kind and happy and efficient, they seem to enjoy the event as well. My family likes to party so I am sure the waitstaff enjoyed watching us have a good time. Thank you to Jeff the evening dining manager for assisting us the evening before the wedding. Sharon thanks again for everything. I have told many people not to overlook Indigo Landing when planning an event. Indigo Landing Restaurant is A+ in my book. Thanks for making my wedding day PERFECT

Ok people, I don’t know what your deal was but let me start off with the fact that I reached out to them via their Facebook page and asked if they still were having restaurant week special of the lamb. I did this in the AM& they answered by the early afternoon. Second, we got there 1 hour before closing & were promptly seated & attended to by our waiter(Sarah is what her name sounded like). We were not rushed through our meal & were able to eat & enjoy ourselves for 1.5 hours closer to 2 hours. Our food was fantastic, the only issue was the calamari’s yellow peppers were a bit salty so they tasted like fried pickles. Everything else was perfect & I was very satisfied. I believe my server’s name was Sarah or something that sounds like that. She was attentive, but not intrusive. I intentionally did not pour myself any additional wine to check to see if she would like at other fine dining establishments & she passed that test. She even took a picture of my husband & I. They made my birthday dinner well worth coming here! 5 stars!

Great View. sweet music. food not so good. We had the brunch and I was not impressed, but there was a wide variety. Finally, I had a nice salad. I LOVE the view! So it is worth it. I am generally not a fan of buffets and yet there was a lot of variety. Buffet brunch was $ 35 I believe, but I would have far preferred to try a menu item, however on weekends until 2PM buffet is only option. You might like it — omelet bar, salads, desserts, shrimp, etc. The view was the best and music nice, as well as the service attentive. I would return with out of town guests.

Like others have said, Indigo Landing is a tourist trap but the view is worth at least a stop in my opinion. However, if you are looking for a good meal, the food did not justify the cost or time we had to wait. The service was OK at best and we did not get outdoor seating for our large party(we had 15). I got the crabcake entrée which was only decent. Being from the area and a huge crab fan, I am a crabcake aficionado of sorts. The cakes had plenty of crab meat lumps yet they lacked ALL flavor or seasoning. The sides were bland and boring. My husband got the filet and it was extremely overdone(he ordered medium and he received overly WELL done). Others in our party ordered the pork chop, steaks, crabcakes, and various other dishes. No one was wowed but since they were from out of town, the view on the deck after we ate was a nice treat for them. Overall, maybe I would pop in for lunch with out-of-towners if we could sit on the patio. I would definitely skip coming here for dinner if you are looking to be impressed by anything other than scenery.
