My wife and I went here over the weekend and thought the food was great. We pass this restaurant all the time and yet have not eaten here. I always thought the previous restaurant looked sketchy so never visited. However, my wife and I decided to give El Paso a shot. I must say the food was amazing! We ordered the Chori Queso dip as an appetizer. It is a white cheese dip with spicy chorizo sausage. It was the perfect level of spicy– a good kick, but not overwhelming. I would highly recommend that dip to any customer. For the main course I ordered the Chori-changa. Pretty much a beef chimichanga(fried burrito) with the same chori queso on top, with a side of salad with guacamole and rice. I had seen the server bring other tables these huge burritos that look larger than a famous chain burrito place, so I thought that is what I was getting sizewise. Nope, the Chori-changa a lot smaller than the regular burritos(but was still large). However, it was one of the best Chimichangas I have eaten. I would definitely get the Chori-changa again, and rate it a 5 star. My wife ordered the pick three and had an enchilada, tamale, and chalupa. The tamale and enchilada were kind of standard, but were tasty. I did not try the chalupa, but she liked it — but not as much as the tamale. We ordered the Tres Leches cake for dessert. The inner part of the cake was perfect, but there was a little too much icing on top, and there were three different kinds of sauce(chocolate sauce, cherry sauce, and I think honey) drizzled over the icing and on the side — too many flavors. The food was 4/4.5 stars, but is certainly one of the better Mexican restaurants in the area. The service was a 5 out of 5. My wife was intrigued by a dish that was pictured on the menu that was made out of blue corn tortillas and beans etc… My wife asked the waitress about the dish and the waitress said that the dish was very sweet and had an almost chocolatey undertone, but it was a hit or miss with people who are not used that dish. She said she would bring sauce out to try, but my wife took her word for it. The food came out quickly, and the servers were attentive. I think that El Paso makes a great dining addition to the area.

Not family friendly. The bathrooms do not have baby changing tables. Drinks are not included in the kids meal. They will charge you 3 $ for 1 juice box. The food is inconsistent. Some things I have ordered were good while others were disgusting. Sometimes the chips are good while other times they are cut too thick and over fried making them hard to chew. You just never know with this place.

Enjoyed an excellent lunch. I had Jose’s Olé Quesadilla & my friend had the Chimichanga. Both were excellent and the portions are big. Good chips & salsa too. Quick service at a good price. Nice to have new Tex Mex place in Huntington area of Alexandria.

This place has been consistently good. The Enchiladas Nortenas are incredible… pretty much the best dish each time I have gotten it. Very flavorful food. I would definitely recommend. The prices are also very reasonable.

El Paso has great food. I had Jose’s Burrito which was huge and enough for me to take half home. My wife had the fish tacos with baked fish. Diana was our waitress and was great.

Let’s be clear-this is not fine dining-but is one of the best neighborhood restaurants! Consistent yummy food, prices very reasonable-so excited they opened near us! Now, why the point about«fine dining»? Service is mixed-their hearts are in the right place-every server we passed as we were seated tonight said welcome or hola-but in three tries they didn’t once get«no sour cream» right. Definite service decline if they are slammed, but I’ve also seen service improve since they opened, so may be just shaking out the new guys. Well worth a try! We come back at least once a month!

This place is great! The food was delicious and the service was outstanding. Immediately upon walking in we were greeted, seated immediately and chips/salsa/water were on the table. I was blown away at how quickly our order was taken and food was out. Quality of the food matched the service and was a nice change of pace from other offerings in the DC area that are more Salvadorean focused. This is real Tex-Mex.

The Salsa is TBE(The best ever)! Planning to call in a Carryout order for the Salsa and chips on Super Bowl Sunday. I have been here on 3 different occasions and every time the service is excellent and the food is just as great. So far I haven’t eaten the same thing twice. Definitely a new favorite that we will hit on a regular basis. Jose’s super burrito… A must try!

By far the best Mexican we’ve found in DMV. The guacamole is fresh, the enchiladas suizas have a delicious sauce. And the staff is amazingly friendly. We drive out of our way and past at least 20 other Mexican places to come here

This place is very good. I love Mexican food, particularly from small, family-owned restaurants. I have eaten at places like this up and down the East coast as well as in Texas. First off, the décor is very nicely done and feels authentic. It’s cozy with booths and tables and a bar. The salsa does not taste homemade, however(salsa is one of my favorite things). I had fish tacos, which were pretty good, though a little skimpy on the fish. We finished with the choco-flan dessert, which was good. Though my critique of that was the flan part had a cake-like texture, and it’s supposed to be cake topped with actual flan(at least that’s how I had it in Mexico).

Great food! I’ve watched progress as this place was under construction and happy to finally visit and try the food. The salsa is delicious and the Burrito Mexicano was very tasty and flavorful! Great staff and nice venue. This is my new Go-To for Mexican food in the Alexandria area! Everything was done perfectly and very affordable. Made another stop and had their Ground Beef Nachos – very tasty. I got a bowl of sliced jalapenos to add flavor and heat to the dish and, with the addition of salsa, they were excellent. A LOT of food!

Be still my ever-lovin Tex-Mex heart, because El Paso has come to town, delivering some authentic south of the boarder grub that is not to be missed. For months, I watched as construction crews transformed the old Las Vegas Bar into a culinary oasis of taco excellence. It seemed to take forever, but as soon as I ordered my first dish from their menu, I knew that it had all been worth the wait. El Paso’s menu offered the traditional Tex-Mex options, but its the Enmolades, enchiladas covered in a dark mole sauce, that won the day. The chocolaty flavor of these beauties was perfectly paired with their savory carne asada insides. I also found that their salsa was surprisingly sweet and tasty and far superior to other Mexican restaurants in the area. Yup, this was Tex-Mex perfection all the way and not the Salvadorian fare that is sometimes passed off as authentic Mexican food in the NOVA area. I also ordered a soft shell taco which was a delicious addition. I was particularly pleased with the fact that they offered shredded beef, something that is not always easy to find in many Mexican restaurants. I tell you Poncho Villa would say that the flavor revolution starts here… So viva El Paso Mexican Restaurant!!! I’m sure to return to this one, again and again.

This place is great, so great in fact that my husband and I ate here three times this week. Everything that I have tried has had great flavor and was prepared perfectly. They have great specials everyday before 4:30 pm. Military discount on Saturday and Sunday for lunch and serve lunch specials everyday of the week. We like our salsa a little spicier a than they make theirs, but they brought out a little dish of hot salsa when we asked and it was HOT, added that to our regular salsa and it was perfect.
