We got very lucky driving back to Texas through Louisiana — stopped for gas across from Eddie’s Barbecue and decided to give this joint a shot. Really tasty across the board — I’m not sure if you can mess up hot smoked sausage, but there’s was great. Brisket could use more smoke for my taste, but the ribs make up for that. The crawfish sauce on the baked potato and crawfish monica was rich and delicious. Sides were universally enjoyed — my wife was really happy they fried the okra on the spot instead of leaving it under the heat lamp. If you find yourself driving through Louisiana, definitely stop in!

Just what a BBQ joint should be: nothing fancy about the décor, plenty of good food. I had the rib plate. Comes with 2 sides and a roll. 1. I don’t know if they bake the rolls on the premises or bring them in from somewhere, but, damn! they are tasty! Great for sopping up the BBQ sauce too. 2. The rib meat fell off the bones. Perfectly cooked and tasty without the sauce that comes in three varieties. 3. Lot of people move through here at lunchtime, be prepared for a line that moves pretty quickly. 4. Cops eating here, too, they always know the best local places. Watched them making a shrimp po’boy. Might have to give that a try next time.

The customer service is excellent. Called in my order to go, the guy on phone was very nice and order was ready right away. The guys behind the counter seem to really enjoy their job and had excellent manners. So nice to see that in young people. I ordered the single shot with ribs, potatoes casserole and baked beans. Sides were delicious! Ribs were cooked very well and very tender. I got the banana pudding for dessert. It was ok, didn’t use real bananas. I pd with a cc and left a tip but was told that the employees can’t get tips left on cc and cc will not be charged the tip. Tips accepted as cash only. Sad, because these guys earned it but I don’t carry cash.

Not bad if you’re on the road across Louisiana and need a quick bite to eat. It’s cheap, and not a ton of food, which for me is a plus.

Where to start… hmmm… 1) Connected to a gas station… Get over it… A non-issue… It’s not like you have to walk through the gas station to get to the BBQ… Each place has a separate exterior entry. 2) Friendly service and recently priced… Large servings. Meat wasn’t fatty and had plenty of flavor. My potato was HUGE! 3) I don’t recommend walking there in the evenings from one of the local hotels… Though I’m told the area is safe… There is no sidewalk and it’s poorly lit until you’re in the BBQ parking lot. 4) Try it out… Next time, I’ll plan to eat in vs. taking my food back to my hotel and eating in my lonely room.

The dinner roll was the best roll I’ve ever had! I’m not kidding! I ordered the 2 meat plate with 2 sides I ordered the chicken and ribs with potato casserole and baked beans. Meat was tasty sides were perfect I enjoyed the servers and cashier they all seemed happy and energetic. Great atmosphere and didn’t seem to be attached to gas station. Hope this business has much success! Good work!

Went on a whim before hopping on the road. I caught them at opening, so I was expecting hot and freshly cook food. I got just that with my order of ribs, turkey, mac and cheese and potatoes salad with a roll on the side. The ribs had great smoke flavor but kind of on the dry side. I had options to how I wanted my turkey cut and I had it chunk cut. It also had a awesome smoke flavor to it. Both meats were on the dry side but that was easily correctable with their house BBQ sause. No complaints with the mac and cheese but the potatoes was more like mash potatoes then the chunky potato salad I’m used to. No biggie because I still walk out of there a happy man and if I am in the area I will give them another shot.

Had the 2 meat plate with ribs and chicken breast and wing with green beans and loaded mashed potatoes. Fair is the best I can say. The ribs were good and the chicken dry. I must say it’s really difficult to get smoked chicken breast moist but it could have been better. Seasoning and smoke on both meats were lacking. The sauce made up the difference and was tangy and sweet. The green beans tasted like they just opened up the can, added onion bits and warmed them up. The loaded mashed potatoes was good. Cost was a little pricey at $ 13.50. Service was really great and made up for the average food and price.

Meh. Honestly I think it comes down to what you order and how you are used to BBQ for that item. I ordered a two meat plate with spicy sausage, ribs, baked beans, potato casserole, and iced tea. The ribs were fall off the bone style but were weak in flavor. The sauce saved them. But I’m a believer that the sauce should compliment, not be the flavor source. The sausage was tasty. The sides were typical, good but not amazing. I struggled between two and three stars but decided with three because the workers were awesome.

Finally getting around to reviewing this place. In town for work and honestly not much else in area as staying at hampton inn. Service was friendly, however very odd atmosphere when all of the meat is pre-cooked and wrapped in plastic wrap, opened and chopped in-front of you. Ordered a pulled pork sandwich and fried okra, which sandwich was made and had to wait on okra. Flavor, so-so, sauce was average to me, meat cooked right. Okra super bland. Price was OK considering how high BBQ is getting these days. Honestly however, left barely sated. Really, its just average, nothing had the wow-factor and being as the BBQ was just decent don’t think I will be returning, again too I don’t normally stop in the area. Place filled up however, so may just be me, take that for what its worth.

Good as usual but not the best I’ve ever had. The pork was a little dry but the chicken, baked beans and dirty rice was good.

Ribs were meaty and nice smoked flavor with good texture. I had the calm BBQ sauce which was tasty. My sides were the dirty rice and macaroni and cheese. I tasted the cole slaw which was pretty good too. It was sweet with a little tang. The roll was buttery and fresh. Staff was really nice and helpful, cashier had a big smile and came out to our table to ask how everything tastes. Employees all seemed to stay busy, productive and friendly. They welcomed us, thanked us and told us to have a nice day on our way out. Restaurant was clean and had country music playing at a reasonable volume. Temperature was just right for a hot, sunny Saturday. All in all I say this is a pretty great joint to stop at on your way through. It definitely isn’t Texas BBQ but pretty darn good still. You won’t be disappointed if you stop by. It definitely beats the surrounding chains.

Don’t let the name or location fool you. I’ve stayed at a nearby hotel several times for business and everytime I’ve been here it’s been delicious both for lunch and dinner. This is a mom and pop place that does comfort food right. I haven’t tried any of the seafood but both the pork sandwich for lunch and brisket for dinner were very good. The meat is tender and not dry. Their sauces are all tasty and it’s nice to have a choice. I love their sides. Like I said this is comfort food. You must try their cobler, both peach and blackberry are fantastic. The place is clean and the people working there are always very friendly. I will always be back. Forget the fast food or CrackerBarrel nearby and do yourself a favor and try this place.

Quick food for travelers going thru Alexandria. Next to gas stations and hotels big plus for a hungry group. Lunch special has choice of sandwich, side and drink. Had the chopped beef sandwich, they cut in front of you which was fresh and you pick you favor of sauce. Green beans was hot and good and absolutely love the coleslaw. Major hit for me. Would definitely recommend stopping here for a bite. Enjoy.

I got the brisket and ribs combo. The brisket was dry and bland. The ribs were decent– nice texture and good amount of smokiness. Both were not very hot temperature wise. The dirty rice was also dry and bland. The peach cobbler was pretty tasty, especially the crisp crust. The staff was slow and had to ask me what my order was several times. I wouldn’t recommend this restaurant.

If you are staying in this particular area with no real transportation, this and cracker barrel are the only semi real reastaurants to eat at. There is also a BK, McD, and Subway in this rest area. Anyway, Eddies is ok but nothing to write home about. The meat is usually dry every time I give them a shot and the portions are also small compared to the true king of BBQ in town. I wont say the name here but theres only 2 main chains so it shouldnt be too hard to figure out. I gave the buffalo wings a shot recently and was offended by the price i paid in relation to the lack of flavor and stiffness of the meat. The ribs are pretty lame. The pulled pork sandwich is about all I’d get from here. The size of it is decent because it comes on a huge roll. The meat MUST have the sauce. Without sauce the pork is just as dry and bland as everything else. The sides are ok but they can be skimpy. I’d say seek out the competitor if you want some bangin BBQ in Alexandria.
