If you want AUTHENTIC, this is the place to be! Stopped by here as we waited for a car detail at «We Care» car wash(thumbs up) and there was no one in the restaurant. It’s small — 6 tables — but don’t let this small empty nest fool you. It’s clearly family owned, and everything is made to order(even the dumplings are hand made) and the service was awesome. Regardless of what you order. It comes with several dishes of sides and rice. We ordered the beef Bolgogi and spicy chicken stew. The stew came out still boiling! And the Bolgogi came out on a cast iron platter. While it looks like a ton of food, it’s just enough to fill 2 people. Perfect portions Authentic food Hidden gem We love this place, and wished it was somewhere closer to home in Maryland. But we don’t mind driving here to dine again.

Nice cozy spot. You get home style cooking as if you stopped in to Halmoni’s house. We tried the goat. You get the goat served in 3 courses. First is steamed and served with garden leafy vegetables, ssam, dipping sauces and variety of bon chon. 2nd course ajima creates a stew with some of the goat meat, 3rd course was goat bokkum bap with vegetables, red beans, sauce. Plenty of food!

Absolutely loved this place! A little hole in the wall but the food took me back to my grandma’s kitchen. First time trying goat stew. The experience was amazing. The goat came out into three courses. First they cut and pull apart the cooked goat and you dip into special sauce, wrap it up in a lettuce and eat it. Then they take leftover goat and make goat stew. Mmmmmm… At last, they take leftover stew and make fried rice. All right in front of you… Yummy!!! Finally… I found some good Korean food that isn’t so sweet. I’m Korean so I’m a food snob when it comes to good Korean food. Highly recommend!

I had such a great time here. On a gloomy, chilly and rainy day, all I could think about was kimchi jjige. This hit the spot, the kimchi is nice and spicy and the bonchan was a great variety. The ladies working there were so sweet! The building is very quaint and easily missed, so keep your eye out for it!

I rarely write reviews, but feel compelled because this restaurant has been panned for rudeness. Today a friend and I went and we were treated wonderfully. And we’re each about as Korean as a waffle. We were immediately seated(granted, the place was empty when we arrived), given great advice on the menu, and carefully attended. As others have said, TRYTHEGOAT.

Don’t come here unless you’re Korean! Me and my friends went(Vietnamese) and I felt like we were being ignored. The food is decent, but it’s not worth it. Plus it’s pretty pricey. Some older Koreans came in after us and they got their food so quickly! We didn’t get refills until we had to ask them, and even then we had to ask them twice because they ignored us the first time! Also when we left, they asked us where their tip was. We did tip them, but they had the nerve to ask for more. If they changed their service I MIGHT come back.

First, we walked in, and the owners were sitting down, not even paying attention. They saw that we weren’t korean and didn’t seat us right away although there was no one else. They didn’t even bring our food out until 45 minutes later. Our side dishes were brought out and no rice. We had to ask multiple times for water, and status on our order. Finally, our food came out, and we never saw a waitress or server again. However, we saw that the service was quick and friendly with other Korean customers. Seemed unfair. When we paid, she didn’t want to split the check. They also seemed mad we didn’t speak korean and seemed annoyed like they didn’t want to translate. When we left, we felt as if it had terrible service, so we have $ 4 on a $ 50 tab. She stopped us and said«only $ 4 tip?!» And kept badgering us about it. I am appalled. Never have I been asked about my tip. NEVER go here!!! Very bad service. This is when I had to calmly explain to her«im sorry, but the service was very bad.» And then we left.

I absolutely love this restaurant. This was my boyfriends first Korean food experience and needless to say, he was blown away. We enjoyed the kimchi and beef bulgogi!!!

I was looking for a new restaurant around Annandale to try out and I found this place. After reading their reviews, I decided to try their famous goat stew and it was excellent, our host/waitress was very nice and friendly too ! I will be back and try other stuff on the menu

Although I haven’t tried it’s specialty(goat stew) I love this place so much. It’s side dishes are good and the service always has been great. This place makes real authentic Korean food. I just wish it is closer to my place so I can eat there more often :)

Best lamb stew ever in Annandale, VA. I would recommend black goat stew for multiple people. First dish served is stewed black goat meat in a steam plate, topping with sliced scallion. Soft and juicy~ the second is goat soup. The last dish is died rice made from the pot stewed the goat. Who can say no to a bite of fried rice made by goat oil ;)

No complaints. The food was very good and authentic and the restaurant was clean, if a little small. The service was great and they had a nice choice of sides. I ordered my favorite dish«duk mandu guk» and it was fantastic! Great Korean spot! They also had a really nice Soju selection. Check it out!

First, we drove almost 2 hours to eat lunch at this restaurant because I wanted goat meat. We are not Korean but we had Korean food from the west coast to the east coast. Korean side dishes are cheap to make but they are uniquely good because they add texture and balance out meaty dishes. Usually restaurants do refill on these for free because at the most, a customer chooses his/her favorite side dish and ask for a refill. The server/owner pretended to not hear my wife’s request for one refill of one broccoli side dish. Perhaps we didn’t speak Korean like most of the customers there. We ordered goat because it was their specialty. We had to ordered at least 2 portions for the total of 60 dollars. We also ordered spare ribs for 19 dollars… we got 4 thin spare«ROBS». Sure we know the price before we ordered, but for 19 dollars«for two» we thought maybe there would be something else that comes with the ribs(for our daughters). We were offer fried rice at the end. We sniffed it and were unable to eat! My wife was very dissatisfied with the food and gave 5 dollars tip on 80 dollars ticket. The lady said«this tip is not enough for a 80 dollar-ticket. In America, you tip 15%». My wife told me and I did feel bad because the quality of food is probably the best this restaurant could offer. The service was not lacking so I told my wife to tip them 15%. But it goes without saying that we will never be back for this 4⁄5 Unilocal-star rating restaurant. Btw. The lady assumed that in America people always tip 15% and up, but in extreme dissatisfying scenarios a customer would tip less or not at all to show disapproval. To demand a tip is a bit brass… IMO Food. 1 star Price. 1 star Service. 3ish star The«feel of friendliness». In America, it is a zero star.

My mom is a firm believer in the remedial effects of a goat stew to combat the common cold, especially for women. Bang Ga Nae offers a great stew, one that warms your core. It’s a little more expensive than what we paid back in California, but the stew isn’t heavy and just as plentiful. For $ 37(with tax), you get enough to feed three people. The goat is definitely gamier than other meats, with a unique scent. It’s meant to be dipped in sesame seeds mixed with other spices. The stew comes with sesame leaves, green onions, and other vegetables. Call it true or a placebo effect, but I feel better this morning after our visit to Bang Ga Nae last night!

I’m glad I gave this restaurant a try; the food that i ordered was delicious(herb chicken soup stuffed with rice?). The dish is so perfect to be eaten at cold winter nights. My sinus cleared right away after eating this and I was full. Highly recommend it.

Oh my goodness. Goat Stew is the G.O.A.T. I ordered the black goat jeongol for two. Wow! It came hooked up with so much food. We couldn’t finish all of the delicious stew, and had enough to take home for the next day’s lunch. The stew itself was light, but very flavorful. I thought it was kind of like a yukjaejjang, but with goat instead of beef. Also, the service was great. The young lady attending our table was very personable and helpful. We came away with a great experience. Will definitely come again.

I’m not particularly experienced with Korean cuisine but I wanted to try something new with my family while on vacation. If you don’t know where to start I’d recommend the beef or pork gulgogi :) The restaurant is a remodeled residential home but was very well kept. Whatever concerns I had when walking in were gone immediately When i was greeted. The ladies there were kind and we’re very genuine to my group despite us being completely unfamiliar. This place was a gem. And the next time I’m anywhere near the area I’ll find an excuse to come again!

Complete hole-in-the-wall shabby looking Korean restaurant that serves bomb arse jungol(Korean stews with fresh veggies, seasonings, meats, etc.) that cooks at your table. If you’re unfamiliar with Korean restaurants/cuisine, I’d recommend going with someone who is. Or be brave and just go regardless. Go. Eat. Now. Thank me later. P. S. It pairs with soju almost too well. It’s dangerous.

I was really excited to finally try this restaurant out — I’ve heard that it was North Korean-oriented, but not sure if that has changed. Either way, I’ve heard a lot of their specialty goat dishes so I ordered their Ddokbaegi — this was an herby broth soup with chunks of tender goat meat — I was surprised at how un-gamey it was, and dipping the meat into the sauce was pretty decent. If you’re into herby broths, this would be an interesting one to try out. My husband had the kimchi jjigae, and I thought it had a lot of kimchi and it had a nice homemade taste to it. We also ordered the bulgogi, but that was forgettable as it was too ground peppery. Service was really friendly and great, and I really enjoyed the ajummas as they were just so nice. I do hope this place does well and I would like to go back and try out their other dishes, such as their other goat specialties. +Ddokbaegi(not gamey) +friendly service: D
