My relative is having cat. surgery with Dr. Schefkind, his coordinator, Stephanie, messed up twice on her doctor appointment. When the other doctor office called her and tried to schedule a new appointment with Dr. Schefkind, she raised her voice. I chatted with her once on the phone, it was very nice for her to give us eye drop samples, however, we are talking about having a surgery here and we don’t want to drive for an hour just to get a bottle of sample each time. She refused to explain to me how to get the prior authorization and said the patient already picked up the sample. Dr. Schefkind could be a great doctor, but we do not feel uncomfortable having a surgery in this doctor office.

Dr. Schefkind and his staff are incredible. Stephanie his office manager/coordinator is a miracle worker. She was the reason I brought my father here for cataract surgery. Dr. Schefkind is awesome. He does not have that arrogant doctor vibe. When I have come here with my father I have overheard conversations in the waiting room about how friends refer friends to see him. A word of mouth practice is a nice find.

I went to Dr. Braun for many years, even after I moved a good distance away from the practice. However, my most recent experience has me seriously thinking about changing practices. I was told that the doctors no longer see patients who are there for routine visits or contact lenses; they only see the patients who need surgery, even if you have a long-standing ocular issue(like me). I voiced my unhappiness, and the office manager came back to talk with me. She invaded my personal space, getting right up in my face and saying in a loud voice, «If you’re saying that you’re going to leave the practice, I’ll go get Dr. Braun right now! Well? Is that what you’re saying?» I was flabbergasted at her lack of professionalism. The optometrist who saw me that day was nice, but I can’t stand being bullied by office staff.

This review applies only to Dr Braun. Although I like her personally, she is overbooked or has some(manufactured) emergency and is perpetually behind schedule and rushes through appointments. I have spoken with her about this but nothing changes. Her billings are always top dollar, but she does not go over test or exam results unless you pin her down. Then she has a discussion while leading you to the front desk to pay. The back office of the practice is beyond hope. Scheduling and billing problems and glitches are the norm and their computer system is years out of date. I’m stuck for the moment, but would advise others not to follow suit.
