Situated in a convenient location in downtown ABQ, around the corner from the movie theater, this place offers a great selection sushi. They also serve large beers perfect for sharing.

Had the jasmine rice and chicken. Amazing. The eggs were fresh and the chicken was nicely cooked, add a little sriracha and bam the bomb. Our sushi was also well made; the caterpillar is the best but their veggie tempura is good too. Now on to the service. Our waitress was friendly but not very attentive. She took out drink orders and quickly returned which is justified since we only ordered water. When she returned we already had decided on our sushi and entrée. She took the order and left. Around 5 minutes later she brought our jasmine rice and chicken, she was friendly again but didn’t ask if either of us wanted anything else, for example more water. We well we didn’t have wait much longer for our sushi and with us already grazing on that chicken it was joyously welcomed. We finished our sushi and drinks and rice and staked our plates and sat there waiting for our server. It took a few minutes to get her attention but she came grabbed our plates and finally asked if we wanted more water. By this point we were stuffed and really only wanted our check. If the food wasn’t so good I would have rated this much lower but because our server was nice and the food was amazing balls I would still recommend this place to feed a sushi craving.

Hmm this place wasn’t bad when I went, I have no complaints actually and surprisingly, if it was close by I would go all the time to be honest. Low key to me it never hurts to be nice even if your experience in customer service is poor those people go through alot being in customer service myself.

We went to this one cause the one near the theater we were originally going to was closed. Got our order and our sushi was falling apart. Sucky! Then the waiter Ryan who was pretty rude during our whole meal drops the plates on me– then proceeds to not even bring me a napkin even though I asked for one. Finally bringing me one he acts annoyed. Seriously. This guy was a douche. Waiting anxiously on the tables with 4 or more people Like a hawk. Desperate for tips? Possibly– didn’t get one from me– So– I decided to call and speak to the manager. He was amazing! So apologetic and immediately spoke to the waiter. We went back and had sue as our waitress and she was a fricken rockstar! Don’t let one bad fish ruin your sushi experience!

Stay away. I waited 15 mins before my server acknowledged by existence. When I finally received my sushi my disappointment had increased. The food was tasteless. The sushi chief should return to school to better understand how to properly create delicious sushi. My sushi came apart as I was attempting to eat it. Stay away from this place until things improve with its service and sushi

I cant say enough good about this place. Friendly chefs and waitstaff. Great fish. I get nigori, not rolls, so the fish better be good. And it is. O is the best sushi chef! His personality is wonderful and his skills are on point.

My first, second and third experiences with sushi in Burque occurred at Sushi King. This was the place to grab a roll or some sashimi when you wanted to taste what the Other Half enjoyed in a burgeoning downtown scene, I’d say this was 15 years ago. Back then, my takeaway was always the same sentiment: pretty good rolls, hefty price. Since that time the sushi scene in ABQ has, naturally, grown up. Sushi King is located on a killer strip of inner-city real estate, near the movie theater, a perfect spot to park and peruse the town. So it doesn’t surprise me that the place hasn’t changed, much. The fish is as fresh as you’ll find anywhere in the Duke City, the menu is tourist-friendly and service is generally top-notch. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with anything you order around here; if you’re looking for comfort sushi you’ll find it, and the cost isn’t ugly or unfair, it’s just, you know, downtown priced. My last visit included a bowl of soba noodles with vegetable tempura. Again, the bowl was fine. I’d caution against throwing tempura-dipped anything into broth, the whole thing can be a mess and you can ditch your chopsticks, in the end you’ll be tipping the bowl into your wanton jaws and drinking the stuff. Stick with the rolls, here, and don’t get too fancy; spicy tuna, caterpillar and the New Mexico option work. If I return, I’m going straight sashimi.

I don’t like raw fish so I was skeptical going to Sushi King but I heard they had good fried rice so I decided to go with some friends. They have the New Mexico roll which has no fish and it is the best roll I have ever had. O the chef is very friendly I recommend this spot.

I actually have had pretty good experiences at sushi king! I like the location. I like the miso and sashimi. The special rolls are usually worth the extra moola too! So yumm! I’ll be back!

I hate writing bad reviews, but sometimes bad things need to be said and hopefully the business can make the proper improvements. So here is my story: A group of 8 met up for dinner at 6pm. The place was not full but did fill up while we were there. We all ordered our food(4 on one ticket, 2 on another, and 2 others were individual). The server was pretty good with drinks and getting other items for the table. The delivery of the sushi to the table sucked! First the 2 individual orders arrived, then by the time they had finished the 2 people on one ticket arrived. Long time wait for the next delivery for the four people order and that took to deliveries(because they forgot to add the nigri to the boat). All the while, other parties of 2 – 5 all got their food and left, then replaced with more people. I’m just very dissatisfied with the timing of the deliveries. Bringing out a few rolls at a time for each order at the table is better than waiting and having others already finished with their food. My second complaint was the freshness of the shrimp tempura for the crunchy shrimp roll. I have gotten this roll at many sushi places and this is the first that tasted fishy, which means the shrimp was not fresh. Closer inspection revealed that the tail of the shrimp was black, also a bad sign. All the other items and rolls were good and fresh, but I would caution anyone with the tempura rolls.

Probably will try not to come back. They gave me the«stinky cup!» You know when you order water and you can smell the kitchen inside the cup? Like a sea shell, but for industrial dishwater. Then the fish was grainy and marshy. By that I mean, when it starts to separate between the muscle fibers as part of the natural breakdown in the circle of life? It lacked the sheen of fresh kill. I do not mean to imply that the taste was bad or rotten or anything. Indeed, the taste was quite average and on par with sushi served in a supermarket. The vibe on this Saturday lunch shift was that the restaurant is slowly sinking into despair and needed a charismatic owner to engage before all is lost.

I like their sushi quite a bit. I love their dragon rolls and the presentation is great! It’s quite large, as well. I get it with the crab and I always leave happy. The dragon rolls and plum wine is all I need to be happy. I am a fan of their eel, too — very flavorful and tender. The place is cute and clean(which is hard to find downtown…). It’s decorated very nicely.

Hands down my favorite Sushi place in Albuquerque. I have been a frequent customer for several years, and not once has the quality of the food been anything but stellar. Super fresh — creative and authentic. The Sushi chefs are friendly — no over the counter glares here. Other staff provide consistently wonderful service. Very comfortable space. This review is specific to the downtown location.

Taste wise: average. Bite sizes not practical at all, could hardly pick them up much less fit them in your mouth. Service was not impressive.

It’s fine. That’s about all I can say. Service ok. Food was decent. No wow factor but a decent lunch option when you’ve been around long enough …

I love this place. The food is authentic and the people are very attentive and kind. The New Mexico roll is awesome as is the shrimp Tempura roll. They have a couple TV’s and are usually playing some sort of sport ball. I like this place better than sushi hana. Give it a try.

Came in for a late dinner, while not feeling well. This place was a quick walk from the hotel and was a perfect place for what ailed me. I had a couple of bowls of nice hot miso soup and a big pot of ginger tea. The service was great, with a couple of different folks helping out. It wasn’t super busy(830pm on a wed). Had the spicy tuna, which was pretty good. The servers were very friendly and even asked it I would like some hot tea to go. They gave me a large tumbler size and it helped me through the rest of my night and even warmed it up the next day. Definitely will go back next time in town.
