Superior Mortgage Services

I’m not sure how large Superior Mortgage Services is, and how many people work there, but I was referred specifically to Steve Sheldon and he is as good as it gets.
Straight talk, tons of follow through, never a lost phone call or loose end. The lenders are making things tough since the real estate market melt-​down; Steve can’t do a lot about that. But he did everything in his power to make sure I got my mortgage (not an especially complicated one, but it’s always more complicated than you expect!). I would definitely go to him again if I purchased a new home or needed a re-​fi. Though I won’t need a re-​fi since Steve got me such a great rate back in 2013.
BTW: Superior Mortgage Services has a new corporate parent — it is now Superior Mortgage Group (Goldwater Bank).

In the end we did refinance with Superior, but not without delays, snags, hassle and headaches. We were referred by a friend who had recently done a «streamlined» straight refinance at the newer, lower interest rates. Theirs was (relatively) quick & simple — though I did later hear it wasn’t totally smooth.
Ours was a different story. We were coming in with a slightly atypical situation which we told them about from the very first appointment (which they were 20 minutes late for). Without going into all the details they had us waiting to hear back from them several times and when we’d call them to find out the status of things they’d say «Oh, nobody called you? We can’t move forward without (this or that).» We eventually got the appraisal done, etc. but there were more unexplained delays. This happened a few times and after we considered just walking away from them (more than once) they assured us things would move forward and finish soon.
Their communication with us (especially returning phone calls) was poor. One or two ladies we worked with at Superior were prompt in communicating with us via e-​mail but our loan officer (Michael) was not.
From the time of our first appointment to the day we signed our closing documents it ended up being ~6 months.
Maybe you’ll be lucky going to them. We were not. We will not do business with them again.
