This is a nice quiet bar. Has a great patio and quite peaceful. Dh liked the flight number. He got to try all 8 beers! Usually he has to pick from the list. We were lucky to have a tour setup by Grant. I will mention again this is a small brewery and bar. The owner has done a great job setting up and getting the job of making fine, quality beer in a small space. I can hear passion in his voice when he is talking about his adventure and investment into this place. It shows well in the beer too. I keep stating that this place is small, but don’t let that keep you from coming here. There is a great patio in the middle of this building. It has benches and nice tables to sit and enjoy the evening. We were there at 7pm and even though we were upper 90’s during the day it was cool on the patio. Dogs are welcome too! Always a plus for us. The inside has sufficient space as well. You will not be crawling over people to get to where you are going. I could tell that regulars were surprised to see all the new faces in their place, but there was plenty of space for everyone. The parking however is not good here. Zendo’s next door is hard enough in the morning for parking, evening time does not change much for the parking situation. If you see a spot on the street grab it! Parking else where could mean a walk or risk of tow. With this being said there is the other problem, lack of food, which is ok. Most bars rely on food trucks anyway. Hopefully they can get on the rotation for the food trucks soon. These are the only negatives I could find here. Come in and enjoy the fine product served here.

New spot, so i dropped in for a quick beer. Beer was good and it has a cool industrial look. The Best part is the awesome patio. Surprisingly, there is a decent size patio in the back of this very small brewery. You would never know it, from the looks outside. Oh and there is this black board that lists all recipients of future beers, that someone bought you. I would say give it a try and put my name on that black board if you read this and went there! I’ll pass along the gesture.

They have beers that won’t make you rethink your life. They are fresh and perfect for summer. I especially like the cask ales that add an extra something to try out. The crowd is neighborly and the conversations are not shallow. Love this up and coming brewery.

I’ve been holding off on going to Sidetrack for a little while now. I frequent their neighbors Zendo coffee and one day happened to see a sign and logo about a brewery opening up so that got me really excited. We always say we are going to go but when we finally do decide to go in their either closed or we decide to go somewhere else. Place has a cool vibe, right when you walk in you will notice a few tables and some seating at the window overlooking 2nd street. They have a pretty big bar area. One thing I did like was the tap handles which are old/new looking nails you would find on a train track. One other thing that I liked was the outside patio which has big community tables and some cool art work on the south wall. Dog friendly so if you got yourself a four legged pet bring them by. Zendo coffee and Sidetrack share a patio so whether you are drinking coffee or drinking a beer you can enjoy the outside patio. I tried their red ale which was called Rail Head Red. It was pretty good, lightly carbonated with notes of caramel. I also sampled my buddies IPA which was also good. One thing that I found to be really interesting and something that I haven’t seen any other brewery do was what they call the«Buy a Friend Beer.» Pretty same concept like the NY pizza thing that got pretty popular. Basically they said that you buy your friend a beer they sign your friends name on the board and they can go in and claim their beer. Awesome work for setting that up, hopefully it takes off once people catch on about it. Overall Sidetrack is a good brewery, location is kind of off the main strip and maybe not to known about but with some time and good beers they could be a top brewery.

My new favorite place. They have two cask ales, super creamy mouthfeel, on tap always. IPA is solid. Better on cask. Pale is also good, but remarkable on cask. Cool vibe, nice décor. Food truck of some kind out front. Cool patio with picnic tables/benches. As someone who is older and suffered hearing loss to my punk rock youth, it’s nice to go somewhere where I can hear my companion speak. Love this place.

With all of the new breweries opening up in ABQ, Sidetrack stands out — both on the merit of the beer and the interior atmosphere. This is damn good beer; the owner has been brewing for 15 years and it shows in the quality of the brew. Do yourself a favor and find your way to Sidetrack with your friends or on your own. The intimate interior and the new back patio make for a wonderful spot year round. For hop lovers, I recommend you do a taste test between the two IPA’s — one made with American yeast and the other with British yeast. Otherwise the exact same recipe, this tasting will educate you on the difference, and get you in the right mood at the same time. :-) Viva #downtownabq!

Amazing beer to get sidetracked with. I like their Pub Ale: it reminds me of what Newcastle brown tastes like when you’re actually in Newcastle. Also, try their hand-pulled cask beers(usually two on tap) as they are always great. The only thing is: their hours are somewhat limited so you have to plan accordingly. For a neighborhood newcomer, they’ve brought serious game!

I’ve been wanting to try these guys since I saw them while visiting Zendo next door. I am glad I tried it and will be back. The atmosphere is very nice. It was industrial while still feeling homey. The space was small but not cramped(and I look forward to their patio in the summer). The service was really top notch. There were two bartenders, including the owner/brewer. Both we super friendly and really were passionate about the place. I really liked hearing about some of the thought processes and their story. But, what’s really important is the beer. They were on point and very good. Two types of IPAs with quite distinct flavors to themselves. And their stout was one of my wife’s favorite non-flavored(ie, chocolate) in the area. The rest of the beers we tried were also good and I look forward to trying the others. Overall, we expect to be back and look forward to see them evolve.

We really enjoyed the beers as well as the customer service. The place is beautiful inside and has a sense of calm about it which we liked. It hits on all 8 cylinders as far as beer, décor, and most importantly, customer service.

Great new addition to the reviving 2nd street SW corridor! A small but nicely appointed space that is warm and inviting. I only tried the IPA with American yeast and hops(they have one with English yeast and hops as well) but I give it high marks; a nice balance of bitter citrus that is perhaps a bit lighter than what you might find at Marble or La Cumbre. I love those IPAs, but this one is, dare I say, more drinkable. This is a very chill place where you can actually talk and hear what the other folks at your table are saying. I never find myself saying this, but they could even turn up the background music to set the mood. Come visit this little corner of downtown – there’s great coffee, beer, the Railyards, and a huge faux castle all right here!

Like a coffee shop for beer. :-) we all enjoyed our beers, and appreciated the attention to detail in the shop. It feels like somewhere I’d go after a hard day of work. Feels good and personal. Great job! [IPA’s are delish] thank you for opening in ABQ!

Excellent cask beer on tap… both the IPA and the«Pub Ale» were truly good beers. They had a wide variety of other house made beers on tap. It is a small, friendly little place. The owners are very sociable and we enjoyed a nice happy hour. Only suggestion would be that it would be nice to have some snacks and perhaps a bit of music playing in the background. Definitely will go again.
