Got food poisoning from eating here, which I hated since I love Indian food. Great price but not I’m just uneasy about eating here.

Was good for the first time but their menu doesnt change. so during lunch it becomes difficult to go there again. Plus i think the food was not authentic indian, but given the demographics i dont blame them. I personally didnt like the food very much.

First time going, it will be the last. The green chili curry was ok. A bit disappointed that they were out of samosas and had no Chai tea.

This place has a great business model but is not being ran right .Ran into the real owner before he sold it to the new owners now. He had to part ways in the partnership because the new owners wife was completely unreasonable and although she has no background in Indian food or culture. Every time we go there it’s the same story… their always out of something and the food keeps getting worse and worse. The new owner or I should say«his wife«keeps changing the recipe to taste more and more like good old Betty Crocker !!! Hello !!! We want Indian ??? I guess they really don’t need the money and all becuase thier both Dr’s that screwed over some poor Indian guy

Don’t know what happened, perhaps a change of ownership, but this restaurant has declined since I last visited. Not from the area, I usually go there a couple of times a year. This time the food was very mediocre and did not taste like Indian food at all. The spices used were ordinary every day spices found in an average American kitchen(Cinnamon and Ginger, no Turmeric, Cardamon, Curry, Coriander, Fenugreek, etc.) Even the Chili Chicken was lacking in the Chile department. The food tasted like Chinese food. The Gulab Jamun was seasoned only with Cinnamon and tasted like a cupcake rather than that delicious unique Indian spice taste… no Cardamom, rose water… just some sort of sugar water… Just didn’t taste the same. Sadly, it was close to early dinner hours and hardly anyone was there. Don’t think it is going to be around much longer… It used to be a nice place to get some quick Indian food…

The only thing decent is the nan. The sag paneer was bland and gross, almost cold. The rice was so old it was hard and chewy. The kofta had no flavor. I went here before after they first opened and the food was much better then. Won’t be coming back.

Saffron Tiger is nothing like the Panda Express comparison that I have read on Unilocal. It’s a buffet choice and offer the 2 to 3 entrée like Panda express menu. What it’s lacking is a signature dish that draws people to get and come back. Not a place that I would return, food is not fresh or tastes like anything Indian food should taste like. Quite a disappointment, I would not ever wish this restaurant on anyone. The only good thing is my friend and I did not get food poisoning after this experience.

I absolutely love coming to Saffron Tiger. I’ve been here only twice but both times have always been delicious and satisfying. The buffet is great because it allows you to sample a little of everything if you aren’t sure what to exactly get. The chicken Tikka Marsala is the main course that keeps me and my family coming back. I just love how it’s set up like a Panda Express, convenient but still tasty. The only reason why I’m giving it a 4 star is because it’s a drive to get to if I’m in the mood for Indian food. But other then that, the food is great and the employees are helpful.

Awful, over-priced, and just plain bad. The saag paneer is probably the worst thing I’ve ever eaten – so over salted that it’s inedible. The rice was cold and the samosa that I waited 7 extra minutes for was freezing cold in the middle when I bit into it! The tikka masala was the only thing close to edible. I am so disappointed to get back to work and have such bad, cold food… plus I paid about $ 13 for rice, naan, horrendous saag, a cold and under seasoned samosa, and a measly serving of tikka. Well I won’t ever be back and won’t recommend.

The Panda Express of Indian food, down to the layout and the pricing; this is a consistent restaurant serving only buffet, and really short on stand-out dishes. I’d love to give more stars, as this is a local outfit whose only location is this strip mall, but there are better places out there. If you’re in the neighbourhood and want Indian, they have all your favourites, without any fuss or adventure. While you probably won’t see any of these in a food court, it is cheap and cheerful. The food is tasty and served up quick. You can’t go wrong, but the experience(unlike the food) will be bland.

This is the first indian place I’ve eaten at since arriving in ABQ last week. I liked the naan bread, however their chana masala was lacking in seasoning. To their credit, they did have a red chili/white yogurt/green stuff tray that I could put on my food, which I did. I would have expected more flavor is all. Meh… i’ve had better. it was $ 6 or something like that, and it tasted like it.

Some of the best food I have ever had. I have been here at least 15 times and the quality is excellent every time. Tons of options. I feel it’s a little pricey, but it is so good I can look past it.

This restaurant probably deserves more stars, but I’m being conservative. I had a late lunch here after my husband finally convinced me to try it. I tried the dal, fried cabbage, Tiger rice(saffron rice), regular naan, and a kheer(rice pudding). I also got a chai to go. My husband tried the chicken tikka and the chicken curry. Everything was tasty – maybe the dishes with milk/cream were a little too milky. It could just be that I ate rice pudding and had a chai and being a bit lactose intolerant, they didn’t sit too well with me. The fried cabbage was awesome – I’ll have to try making that some time. All of this cost us about $ 25. It’s a fast food restaurant – nothing fancy. You can order a la carte, a one– two– or three-dish meals, or get the buffet. Friendly staff, tasty food. I don’t know why I’m not more enthusiastic. Give it a try. If I need lunch while I’m in that part of town again, maybe I’ll stop by.

This review is after what was probably an off night for the restaurant, so if it gets better when I go back I will update my review. I like the idea of Americanized Indian fast food. The business name pulled me and my mom in for a quick dinner on our ride to Taos after a long overseas flight. The food was ok by my standards. However, I must take into account where I am… Albuquerque NM. No offense Burque, but Indian cuisine is not a local classic. As for the dining experience, the buffet is the way to go. I didn’t choose that route and only had two entrée choices with rice. I chose tiger rice(yellow rice) with Dahl and chicken tikka since it looked good. Dinner came with 2 naan. Water was extra. Mom had some rice and tandoori chicken. We both finished fast and enjoyed our meal. The servers were polite and helpful and I feel bad for the 3 star review… It’s just that to me, I needed some more flavor spice and pizzazz in my food for it to exemplify my culture’s cuisine. Instead it’s very watered down to appease the ABQNM populace.

if your scared or intimidated of Indian food because of stupid stereotypes or a movie youv seen, i suggest you start here. there menu is basic Indian and almost has a Panda Express buffet Vibe. The food is as good as a fast food Indian restaurant can get. some days and times ive noticed are better than others tho so beware of the time of day. i was there about 45 min before they closed and nothing was looking too good. pita bread was tough and the food was as you would expect, old looking as if it was made hours before. all in all this place is a full 3 stars and would get 4 if they expanded there menu with more choices and serve beer.

If you like Indian food and buffets, then you’ll like this place. They have all the usual stuff you’d expect: curries, nan, basmati rice served in kind of a strip-mall fast food atmosphere. The place is never crowded, so service is pretty good that way. It’s all more or less self-serve, though, so it’s not like you need a waiter.

I give Saffron Tiger three stars because I appreciate it as an alternative to the usual fast-food options. Otherwise we’re talking two stars, maybe even one. I understand that it’s a buffet, but the food was a few degrees above being ice-cold. Yuck. Surely you can do a better job of holding your food to temp! I’m certain the flavor of the food would have been improved 100% had it been served at proper temperature. I didn’t do the all-you-can-eat, instead chose the two-entrée combo, which came with rice and naan. I selected the saag paneer and a Punjabi style vegetable; sparse, unidentifiable chunks afloat in a congealing brown sauce. If it’s a buffet and this entrée was so visually unappealing, you might understandably ask why I chose this particular dish? Only because that and the saag paneer were the only vegetarian entrees offered when I visited. Let me make a small aside to mention that I know most of you carnivores out there think of us vegetarians as a bunch of whiny, high-maintenance bitches, but just so you know, Indian cuisine is a generally vegetarian-friendly cuisine with many, many traditional options such as Chole, Kaali Daal, Rajma, and so many others. So it’s a disappointment to find a buffet with vegetarian options so poorly represented. In addition to everything being cold, the rice and naan were dry and flavorless, and the service was indifferent. Next time I need a meal in four minutes flat, I’m going to Burger King and getting a double cheese burger made with Morningstar garden veggie patties instead of «beef». Oh snap, betcha didn’t know that was possible.

My hubby found this place and took me there. I was a happy camper. It is fast food and the taste of the food is varied unlike Panda Express where everything tastes the same. The tandoori was tasty, along with the garlic naan and chana masala. We went 2X in a weekend. Reasonably priced and more than enough food for lunch or dinner. The staff is not that brilliant but just be patient and you will be happy. Wish they had one in AZ where we live!

Totally great Indian food, and I’ve had more high powered Indian food than you could shake a stick at. Had the lunch buffet, both veg and chicken, and it was great. I could see how just getting a couple entrees could be not as great, but with Indian food, always go for the buffet. I didnt see any Chinese food here, maybe theyve changed since those reviews. Around $ 10 for all you can eat lunch special. Everything was fresh, and was refilled while we were there. The staff was very friendly and even let my kid bring his hamburger in from 5 Guys to eat with me. I will be eating here on a regular basis, so stay tuned, turkeys.

Keeping in mind that this is fast Indian food, I think it’s pretty good. Sure, it’s not like a «real» sit-down Indian restaurant, but you have to consider what you’re paying and how quickly you get it. I’ve been several times and the staff is always friendly; they usually offer to make more of a particular dish if there isn’t much left or someone comments that it looks like it’s been there too long. If you like the rice, ask for half and half with the naan as your side. You seem to get just as much naan as if you only get it without the rice. Their sauce bar is good too; several different options with a variety of tastes. In short, as long as you don’t expect it to be sit-down restaurant quality and consider it for what it is, you shouldn’t be too disappointed.
