Planet Fitness – Albuquerque – Eubank

For under $ 20 and even sometimes 10 with specials Planet Fitness is the cheapest gym in town – not counting Manzano Mesa for a dollar a month.
However, it’s freezing cold inside the gym and I personally cannot work out in that purple and gold environment. I do not understand their motto «we won’t judge you.» Does that mean if I workout hard for a year and look exactly the same no one’s going to help me?
I was not impressed with the selection of fitness equipment either. I felt like I was in some disco-​gym from the 1980s with the equipment and the colors.
The social aspect with bagels on Sunday mornings makes me feel like I’m going to Einstein brothers and not to go work out hard.
For price and style Manzano Mesa. For skill Street Kung Fu. For equipment Defined Fitness… I really don’t see any bargain here.

My boyfriend and I are from out of town, so we stopped by to use the gym, and bought a day pass. At Planet Fitness, the day pass is exactly twice as much as the advertised monthly membership! We did not find this out until after buying the day pass.
The staff was rude, and seemed only to care about the gossip they were discussing, rather than helping us out. The locker rooms and restrooms were unclean, paper towels littered the floor, and half of the toilets were stopped up, with unflushed remains. A gas station bathroom would be more preferable.
The room with the strength stations also lacked the normal lifting equipment that 24 hour fitness has, while the machines at Planet Fitness are crammed in so that if someone is on a machine next to you, you’re nearly touching them. There was also an exorbitant amount of hair on the floor of both the weight room, and cardio room.
Thumbs down for planet fitness, they may not «judge», but it’s time to clean up your act, and employ some self respect and standards, rather than self serving, disgruntled employees.

This is «our gym». My husband and I have the black card so I go as a guest for free whenever I want. It seems like the gym had gone through some changes over the last few months, and it’s for the better! Staff is always polite and we never have to wait for a machine. My only «wish» is that it would be nice if they were open later on the weekends.

Nice gym. Would love to see people just be a little cleaner when sharing the equipment.

I love the size of this gym! They also must have hired new employers because now they greet you with a smile and wish you a good day on the way out :-) I also enjoy the water massage bed! So many machines, that even when it’s packed I still get one and feel comfortable in my bubble-​lol

This is my 3^rd or 4^th PF review … so I compare them with each other rather than against other gyms. But here are the quick differences between all PFs and most other gyms.
Planet Fitness — tons of cardio machines, some strength stations, no classes, super cheap ($ 10 one gym, $ 20 all gyms and other perks).
Other gyms — less cardio, more strength, classes (aerobics, yoga, spin, etc), a lot more expensive and, usually, contracts.
This PF just remodeled into a larger space. They took over the bar that used to be next door. Location is convenient for those in the near NE heights.
Typical range of cardio machines though they seemed to be pretty tightly packed. The televisions are a little bit difficult to see (the Rio Rancho site has better set up for tv viewing while on cardio).
They have the other «Black Card» perks available — massage chairs and beds (recommend the bed) and tanning booths.
Best change in the whole system lately — the Black Card should allow you to bring a guest (free) to ANY Planet Fitness, or so I’ve been told. The BC will definitely allow this in ABQ and Rio Rancho because all of them have the same owner.
