Awesome! Just passing through town, needed a quick lunch and noted the 4 stars. MY wife had the beef soup, she loved it! I had the bbq pork sandwich, a staple of mine, and this one was as good as some of the best I’ve had. I’m not picking a favorite today, but it’s up there! So happy the French & Vietnamese came together on that sandwich, probably saved my marriage.

im one of those who never reviews a spot. but i feel that im in such disagreement with all the positive reviews. I thought meatballs sliced meant cut in half. it was as thin as the slices of tai(rare steak) which was fully cooked(even overcooked). dryer than the well done steak. cashiers dont seem happy working there. slow service even when empty. thanks but no thanks. is this really one of the better phở spots in abq? food didnt taste repulsive. but broth is plain(in flavor) salty enough though.

I usually LOVE Phở Nguyen. Their broth is so delicious and so unique. The environment is always so inviting and I always have a great experience there. The customer service is always great and I have never had a complaint… until today. I’m a picky eater and I understand that it can be overwhelming to adhere to picky customer’s requests. I have a hatred for onions and can’t stand the way they taste. Whenever we go to eat phở, I always order my phở with no onions and for an extra side of limes. Everything was totally fine and delicious as always until we received the bill. There was a $ 1.00 charge for no onions and a $ 1.95 for limes. Nowhere in their menu did it state that these would be extra charges and was not told this beforehand. And I would have no problem paying for either of these charges if I had known beforehand, but it came as such a surprise. I’ve gone to Phở Nguyen for almost 5 years and this was the first time I’ve ever been charged for no onions and extra limes. When we asked our waitress about it she was really short so we didn’t pursue it, but I think they need to seriously put it in the menu. I’ll still be returning for my B1 Rare Beef Phở, but I’ll be prepared to pay an extra $ 2.95 for my modifications.

Excellent service & delicious tasting food! The serving staffs were friendly and cater to your needs and modified any menu to your liking without hassle or having to explain it for 10 minutes to multiple staffs. I was traveling by plane across the country that afternoon, and the serving staff made sure to pack my take-away food properly to ensure lasting freshness without having to ask for it. Don’t forget to try their Green Papaya Salad!

Went in to have lunch the place was empty was with two other people and wanted to sit in the booth area but was asked to sit at a smaller table even though there was no one in the building. Then she dropped the menus off and bounced no drink request or anything then waited for 10 minutes with no service just ended up leaving and going to viet taste mmm fuck this place never going back!

Had the chicken phó! It was great! I was so hungry and still couldn’t finish it! It’s large. The wait was a bit long but other than that, the food is great!

My wife and I are Phở-natical about phở. We always enjoy a good bowl and we really appreciate when it is well executed. There had to be a balance between making a flavorful broth with the right spices. Some places tend to have watery broth while others suffer from being an exposition of spice. But a good broth should have enough flavor and a rich mouthfeel with just the right amount of spice to give it that signature flavor. I think that really describes Phở Nguyen. My wife wasn’t feeling great so, of course, the answer is Phở. Their broth was perfect and the assembly(noodles, etc) were well executed. The noodles didn’t clump at all and the amount of meat was fine. Also a nice atmosphere. Of course, we have to use our full Phở rating rubric below, but I also ordered the bun bo hue(while my wife got an XL beef phở to share). I liked the strong lemongrass flavor and the spice, but I think their plain phở broth was really the star of the meal. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- # Phở Grading Scale – General Phở grading scale. Note that there is not necessarily a «better» answer ## Broth: – Clarity(note that traditionally, a clear broth is good). Is there oil on the broth?: Clear. Light colored. – Flavor? What are the dominant flavors/spices? How sweet is the broth? Discuss salt levels. Note other factor such as mouthfeel, richness, and aroma: Well balanced. Perfect level of salinity. Flavorful being overpowering of any one spice. Well executed ## Other Ingredients: – Discuss proportions of meat, noodles, broth, onions, etc. Certainly enough meat. Not much onion or scallions, but certainly didn’t feel lacking ### Noodles: – Are they loose or in a big clump? – Are they well cooked? Not clumped at all. Actually, really impressive! ### Meat: – Was the Tai served rare? – Meat texture and thickness? – Fattiness of the other meat(relative to tradition *and* personal preference) Meat served rare by request and was quite lean. Middle of the spectrum on thickness. Chin(Brisket) was not super flavorful but not bad either. Meat was fine overall but not really notable ### Garnish – Are they fresh? Was there enough? – Did they serve cilantro Garnishes were fresh and plentiful but not too abundant. Perfectly adequate. There was cilantro which I was happy about. ## Other Details: ### Menu Selection: – Was there a good selection of non-Phở meals? Yes. Lots of options from all over Vietnam – Interesting appetizers? Appetizer-sized Bahn mi was really good. The pork was lean and flavorful –Any different or interesting add-ons(e.g. fried egg)? Was the option for extra meat and/or broth listed on the menu? I don’t recall seeing anything or even an option. I didn’t ask… – Price? $ 8ish for the regular $ 10ish for the XL. Standard ### Utensils: – Were forks already at the table(neither good nor bad)? Forks and Chopsticks – Did the spoons have the hooks to prevent them from falling into the soup? Sadly, they did not have those little hooks ### Service: – Were drinks refilled appropriately? – General Comments: Service was excellent. We ended up talking to them for quite a while

I was searching out a good phở place and finally found it! I’m used to atlanta, which has the best of every cuisine from the world over, so I was a bit spoiled. Now I know where to get good phở in Albuquerque, but I’m still look for my tofu bahn mi. Suggestions?

Ordered the Vietnamese roll for carry out. Atmosphere was quite bland except for the ceiling mounted TV — another minus. Service barely moved the needle. Happy to have ordered something quick so I could get on out. Rolls were skimpy and for some Eason warm — may have been the tofu was recently prepared, but I don’t know. The rolls were sticking together and lime dipping sauce tasted fishy, which for me is a big turnoff; so I ate them straight-up. Still in search of a great roll in the Heights.

The 4-star statement is correct; Yay! I AM a fan! Having lived in Vietnam, my craving for vietnamese food is rarely fully satisfied. Until Phở Nguyen, I’d always been wanting«more» from local phở restaurants. The second the bowl of soup was put in front of me, I knew I had found the place that would satisfy my once hard-to-satisfy cravings! My experiences here have been very pleasant, and I will keep coming back!

This is really a great place. You could choose small medium or large size which will fulfill different requirements. The food is delicious and nit expensive. I ordered roll appetizer fries and phở noodle with brisket. Recommend!

Good food, reasonable prices, proper bathrooms, and CLEAN. I really liked the servers at lunch on a Thursday: efficient and straightforward. Will they chat you up about your family and you life? No. Will they get you your food, keep your drink full, and bring the bill in a timely manner? Yes. The only negative for me: Presence of a TV. But at least the sound was turned off.

I always think that everyone deserves a second chance and this was it for Phở Nguyen. The service here is downright surly. The phở was greasy and without much flavor. I gave one star for the wontons. They weren’t terrible. Save your money.

Delicious phở. Fresh ingredients. Delicious and fresh everything really. Family owned. Nicely lit and clean. There usually aren’t a lot of people which creates an intimate vibe. They don’t take Discover, but were incredibly nice and let me come back to pay for it another day. I’ve been there multiple times and have converted many.

This is my absolute favorite Phở restaurant in Albuquerque! I typically like going during non-popular times because the Phở has so much more flavor. Even on an off day their Phở is better then most in Albuquerque. I enjoy their spring rolls as well as their fried rolls with jasmine tea to start my meal off right! Then when the combination Phở comes to the table you know this is going to be delicious. The broth is amazing with so much flavor it is worth trying over and over again!

This place has the BEST phở you will ever taste. I drive 1.5 hours just to eat here, and it’s worth it every time. The chicken phở is made in a clear booth with or without ginger(I get without) and it’s just so delicious. It’s not fatty, and the broth is so full of flavor. My fiancé usually orders the rice and meat dishes and he’s always satisfied. We also order the fresh spring rolls which have both pork and shrimp in them and those too are also phenomenal. The service is really great, I believe it is family owned and they all work there. I come in about every two months and the waitress remembers us every time and is just so nice and friendly. I’m so happy I found this place on Unilocal. This place is a hidden gem! You will love it!

Very good food at very good prices. I love the papaya salad. All the dishes were good with that special use of sauce and seasoning true to Vietnamese food.
