This food truck has been on my Unilocal bucket list for awhile and I was lucky to have spotted it at the Southwest Bacon Fest! Yay me. I love a good Hawaiian BBQ and have been bamboozled in the past when a Chinese restaurant poses as a Hawaiian BBQ. What do I expect at a Hawaiian BBQ? Amazing sticky rice, yummy macaroni salad and… spam! Kimo’s delivered on all accounts. The macaroni salad was a5 out of five. The bacon wrapped spam was good and the sticky rice was on fleek. I ordered the Kalua Pork which was dressed with a sploosh of BBQ sauce that had the perfect kick. I will definitely be keeping my eye out for this food truck in the future. I get a craving for Hawaiian BBQ sometimes so I might actually seek this one out.

Our favorite food truck in Burque! Took us back to our first Hawaiian teriyaki chicken we had in Kauai! Delicious! Love the macaroni salad and rice! The food prep takes awhile… but worth the wait! Don’t let it discourage you.

As a HUGE fan of Hawaiian food, I wish I could give Kimo’s a raving review, however, in good conscience I cannot. And here lies the problem; are there other Hawaiian joints in Albuquerque? I don’t think so, or I’m currently not aware of any, so do I rate them compared to their competition, which is none, or to previous Hawaiian joints I’ve eaten at in different cities/states? I think I must compare them to what I know, and what I know is Hawaiian food rocks! And though Kimo’s was good, it left me wanting. Mind you, this was at the Folk Art Festival downtown and they were probably bangin it out & running out of things, which is my main issue. They ran out of Kalua pork! Huh? !@#$ That’s my Go-To item at a Hawaiian joint and they ran out. So needless to say, my three-star rating is partly based on that. I’ll give them another go and hopefully they’ll redeem themselves. We had to settle for the teriyaki steak, which was good, but the other staple at a Hawaiian joint, as you all know, is the Mac Salad. There is just something about Hawaiian Mac that rocks! The creamy mayo base with pepper and the gorging ‘Wow” factor that has one order«Double Mac.» But alas, it was not that good. I’m sorry to say, but it was not creamy enough & literally no pepper. And finally, the rice was dry! I know, I know, I’m being picky right? Well, I’m paying for it and I know what I’ve experienced at other locations, so I reserve the right to be disappointed. My last note of disappointment: no pork hash! If you do NOT know to what I refer, you’re missing out! For those of you who do know the bliss of pork hash, you know how awesome it is! In my humble opinion, any Hawaiian joint who claims to rep Hawaiian food needs to offer pork hash, but sadly not many do. Obviously this catering truck does not either… hence my three-star rating. One last housekeeping note, do not be fooled by the address listed here. This is a catering truck that is in different locations throughout the city at different times. I would call them to see where they are currently located.

My wife and I both tried the food for the first time at the St Patricks Day party at the rail yards. We both thought the gentleman that took our order was very professional and courteous. We had to wait about 10 minutes for the order which was fine since we were not in a hurry and would rather wait for fresh cooked food rather than something heated up in the microwave. I got the teriyaki chicken and my wife got the pulled pork. Each came with white rice and choice of salad. We both thought the same thing. The food was ok. It was reasonable for the price and it tasted fresh and hot. There are quite a few selections to try. More than I thought there would be.

The veggie burger is delicious! I got it with a pineapple slice on top and I added hot sauce, it was perfect. I wish I asked them what kind of patty they use. I’m not doing 5 stars because I think a $ 6 burger should come with a side(or at least have a combo option) and the veggie burger is their only vegetarian option.

Finally was able to visit this food truck at the Talin Market on Wednesday. I specifically went for the Spam Musubi, but alas they did not have any as they were sold out. I will have to go at an earlier time to try this delectable morsel. But at least I left with the best damn pulled pork sandwich ever! The Mac salad was good as was the rice. My fellow co workers also tried their samplings and stated all was good.

Let me just tell you that this food truck is so AMAZING! The combo plate will give you a taste of everything and it’s so reasonably priced. The bacon wrapped pineapple spam will delight your tastebuds in a way that makes you want to sing! MOREKIMOPLEASE!

Just want to say you made a former local guy from Hawaii very happy. My wife and I enjoyed the mixed plate.(Teriyaki chicken, teriyaki beef, kalua pork cabbage with scoop of rice and macaroni salad). My daughter enjoyed the hamburger steak plate. As they say back in Hawaii, «was so ono, broke da mouth!» Mahalo nui.

We were looking for a good beer-friendly snack/small meal when we were imbibing at Tractor Wells Park. Luckily, Kimo was set up in the parking lot and ready to sate the appetites of the haoles. We enjoyed teriyaki beef and chicken dishes, sticky white rice, macaroni salad, and chile cheese fries. The Kimo’s folks will even bring your food inside for you if you ask nicely, so you don’t fall down the stairs in front of the hipsters.

The food was ready really quick, which is a nice change to the typical food truck wait. The pulled pork was delicious and very moist. While I’ve never had rice with pulled pork, it was actually pretty good. My only complaints 1) wish the burgers took less that 10 min to make 2) wish the side salad that came with the pulled pork plate was bigger.

I have been missing Hawaiian food SO so much since moving back here from California. I am soooooooo not disappointed by Kimo’s! The spam musubi is perfectly salty with a little bit of sweet from the sauce they put between the rice, nori, and spam – YUM! It’s really really hard to find the mac salad that is so unique to Hawaiian food, but they did it– so creamy and delicious! Last but not least, the pulled kahlua pork is so tender and tasty, layered over a bed of steamed cabbage and served with a heaping mound of perfect, sticky white rice! I just finished eating and I’m getting hungry again writing this review. Their menu is pretty large for such a small food truck – traditional Hawaiian food, nachos with pulled pork, hot wings, hot dogs, hamburgers, loco moco, teriyaki, chicken katsu, and Hawaiian DONUTS(!) – which I will have to go back for! You can tell they really know what they’re doing(being native Hawaiians and all). I’ll definitely go back and definitely recommend!

I was in the Arby’s parking lot across the street from Tractor taproom and just couldn’t bring myself to go in. I looked up and saw this food truck parked in front of Tractor, so I headed on over and I’m glad I did! I ordered the Kimo BBQ sandwich which was pulled pork, sweet, tangy bbq sauce and coleslaw and the fries. Everything was fantastic. I was also lucky enough to be there when the pulled some fresh donuts out of the fryer and they gave me a free sample(thanks!). They were doughy, sweet and delicious with just a hint of powdered sugar coating the outside. Another food truck to add to my favorites, guess it’s time to start a food truck list…

MAHALO!!! My prayers have been answered! A Hawaiian food truck! Today I was missing Hawaii… bad. Looking on Unilocal,Oahu… lunch plates, shaved ice, ice cream mochi… my heart aching to be back in Oahu. So every few months I Google«Hawaiian Food in ABQ» and bingo! Kimo’s Hawaiian BBQ food truck came up! He doesn’t have a website, but he is on Facebook. I found where he was serving today and made a mad dash for da grindz! I ordered the daily special Chicken Katsu. ONO! The mac salad was tasty and the steamed rice cooked perfectly and sticky. The chicken katsu… it actually looks and tastes like just breaded chicken cut up and warmed up. But is in a sauce that tastes great! You get soy sauce and garlic chili sauce on the side. The portions are HUGE! On his menu he also has the traditional favs: Moco Loco, Teri Chicken, Teri Steak, Spam Musubi. I believe there were hot dogs and hambugers too. I hope at some point maybe he’ll serve shrimp and maybe some kimchi. :D Price: $$, but for $ 8.50 and the amount of food I got, it was worth it. Return %: 95% — I’ll be going back for sure. Looks like he does most business between Northside Medical Building and Eye Associates of NM off of San Mateo and I25(parking lot). Give it a try… it’s Oishii! :D Aloha my Unilocal peeps!
