Java joes is superb! It’s a nice hole in the wall local coffee shop. They have a great selection of New Mexican staples like breakfast burritos and huevos rancheros. They also have sandwiches and breakfast pastries– with such a diverse menu, where could you go wrong? Located on the western end of downtown you would expect it to be a slow quiet place. However, There are constantly artists and musicians performing for people of all ages. Java really takes your basic coffee shop to a new level and makes it a fun environment for all. Java joes has a very affordable menu along with great coffee and tasty baked goods. The food here is delicious and they definitely don’t skimp on portions or food quality. I don’t have many negative remarks other than it can be very busy on weekends and that you might have to wait for a table due to the restaurants small size.

Really cool, artsy coffee shop that has a real menu. We had the breakfast enchiladas, Mayan waffle, pancake w/strawberries & real whipped cream and pumpkin cheesecake muffin. We couldn’t agree on which was best, but all were very good. I would become a regular if we weren’t tourists.

Breakfast was pretty good and the was acoustic music playing. The music was rather loud so it was hard to talk. The place is also set up in a funky way that makes the seating sort of interesting. Nonetheless, we bought the $ 30 for $ 15 Unilocal deal. I got the Huevos Rancheros with a Grasshopper Latte, which was mainly whipped cream. My boyfriend got a breakfast burrito with bacon w/o chile and pancakes with chocolate chips. We both enjoyed our food but am regretting not getting just drip coffee. I would recommend!

Nice breakfast and coffee morning in ABQ! Great to have nice acoustic music playing when enjoying brekkie! My latte and the rest of the family’s coffees were done perfectly. Nice, friendly service and nicely decorated coffee shop!

We visited here, and only knew of the place, because of the set-piece it made for Breaking Bad. The $ 15-for-$ 30 Unilocal deal just made it better. I ended up buying three ½ lb bags of their roasted beans, a tres leches coffee, hot chocolate, rocky road chocolate chunk, gluten-free cinnamon scone and a cookie. Yikes, sugar-high overkill. Everything was good, and the service was great. Right when we ordered the place got packed. We stood off to let other orders go through after getting our coffees, and then just interjected to try getting the other snacks we already ordered. They never gave us an annoyed look or made us feel we were a burden. They delivered our coffee bags to our table, and there was no problem with the Unilocal coupon. The lady(I assume the manager) was very supportive of her worker, and it was just a relaxing time there. I’d completely come back if I was in the area again.

The absolute best coffee house ever in ABQ! Friendly people & great atmosphere! I wish they would open one on the East side of town!

I was happy with the vibe here. The outdoor tables are great in the morning. The staff was very nice and the food was delicious. Funny story though. I walked outside to get a table after I ordered my food. Some lady right at that moment spilled coffee all over herself mid drink. She started cussing. I was amused. Then as I was occupying the last table in the shade, I was being eyeballed by these two guys that wanted my table. They stalked my table for about 30 minutes and promptly grabbed it as soon as I stood up to leave. Great business here. Weird crowd though.

My husband and I have gone to Java Joes several times for breakfast and coffee. The coffee is always very good. The food is usually good and per my husband, the muffins are excellent. However, the service is so ridiculously awful I give them two stars, although the rudeness, lack of customer service, and the fact the staff apparently unable to smile, I would like to give them one star. I will be nice and give them two stars as their food is good. I will not return. My husband is occasionally in that area and will go for coffee. I always ask if anyone greeted him and/or smiled, he always says no, they act like I’m bothering them.

In town for a couple days to see a long lost friend. This is a great spot to cool off with a cranberry cooler and check out the local color. Outside seating was perfectly shady with views of down town in one direction and a tree lined street in the other. Good for people watching entertainment too.

I was taught some new Chinese slang while my best childhood friend visited me here recently. When I bookmark some place to visit, the Chinese would say — I’m growing new grass. The implication is, the new growth would start tickle my thoughts till I have to cut it, i.e. go! Java Joe has been tickling me when I think of coffee on weekend mornings. Though I was house-sitting in North Valley and folks recommended Sophia’s place that is less than half a mile away, Java Joe won the tickling contest. I’ll wait till Sophia’s puts up a sign for herself. Lemme not ramble about why it is not appealing without a sign no matter how good the food your kitchen churns out. At around 9 on a Sunday, Joe’s was almost full. I started with the very basics, checked in on Unilocal and got a free large coffee, thanks! Not a fan of flavored roast that I poured into my cup, I better skip that next time and try more sophisticated brew. The last piece of gluten free coconut and almond scone was sad, not wanting to let it spoil my lovely morning, I figured at least I saved the next person from a disappointment. It was made mostly from rice flour, which was grainy. After sitting in the jar waiting to be consumed, it got really dry. I’ll skip that and dig into some glutenous usual suspects for future. Wild Bill’s Omelette struck a chord in me after looking at the menu briefly, boy it saved my relaxing morning! The country tunes performed by the talented musician with his guitar and harmonica was, shall I say in my case, like the smothering Swiss & green chile over turkey & avocado omelette that I savored?

I just moved across the road from Java Joe’s and its seriously my favorite café. From the atmosphere to the coffee, everything about this place is wonderful. Friendly employees and good food. Prices are affordable. It’s a great hang out place. Definitely recommend!

Perfection! A lovely café run and staffed by people that seem to care. The Southwest wrap with tofu is amazing. I had the best iced chai there. The potato salad was very good(it could use a bit more seasoning). If you’re looking for something to do there are plenty of posters advertising things to do. It is vegan friendly but also hAs chicken. There is live music at times. Go already!!!

Their selection of coffee beans rivals self-appointed coffee-intelligentsia Satellite(but I still love their coffee too). However, JJ’s lacks the naming-pretense and simply label the country of origin and variety. 3 daily drip brews(regular, decaf, flavored) and a dozen of each all in regular rotation. I love their flavored coffee cause it’s not presweetened or a syrup shot but rather gets a pre-brew bean soak; subtly fragrant and often just plain delicious. Rotating local art pieces adorn the walls. Red chile sauce is drinkable. Their scones have gained considerable game since the upgrade last year(watched them drizzle melted white chocolate on my still warm blueberry scone before handing it to me once). Their staff has made us feel like family for the last 3 years and nearly every band that plays accommodates to the lived-in vibe. We discovered a band here on a lazy Sunday that we ended up hiring to play our wedding; we still see them there on occasion and they play our wedding dance song each time. How in the hell could I ever not love this place? It may not be the absolute best food or even coffee in town but it gestalts beyond all others for me. They have the extra elements that other coffee shops would do well to recognize, bringing me back despite knowing other places do a little better on the menu: genuine, warm, sincere rapport in a cozy atmosphere. Feels like your living room away from home and home cooking is always the best.

I love this neighborhood coffee shop! The service is good and fast even on a busy Saturday! We absolutely love that they serve a flavored brewed coffee each day. Daily breakfast specials are yummy and the breakfast burritos are AMAZING!!!

I stopped here as part of a Breaking Bad trip went my girlfriend, but we were pleasantly surprised as to how awesome this place was in general. The coffee and selection was awesome, but the walls are covered in great art — all of it for sale — and they have live music. I even saw someone bust out a harmonica and join the guitarist for a song!

Went here because of its Breaking Bad fame. Was passing through Albuquerque, why not? This is a hip little café with good vibes. I got a grasshopper latte(?) which was pretty delicious. The staff was also very friendly.

I’m giving an extra star for solving the juevos conundrum. Basically, that is the unfortunate situation that juevos rancheros comes with only 2 eggs and leaves you sorta hungry. Java Joe’s stacks the juevos so you can get 3 eggs and tortillas and still fit it on the plate! Now if they were to put hash browns on the side we’d have a world class destination! I took advantage of their $ 15 for $ 30 deal without any mean looks. I’m having a hard time with breakfast in general, and this will probably be on my short list for this one item in particular.

Ok, so we sought this place out as part of our Breaking Bad self-tour. If you didn’t know, this location was Tuco’s hideout in the first seasons of the Breaking Bad series. Hearing it was a good coffee shop to boot we went inside for a midafternoon pick me up. The place is kind of dark and industrial inside but we were promptly greeted. They have a variety of food and drinks available. We only ordered drinks but my espresso drink was only lukewarm(it should have been hot) but I didn’t notice until we were already on our way. First impression of the place is just a three star but admittedly it was a brief encounter. If nearby again I’d probably give them another shot.

Got a special of the day. The nutty Irish iced. Had to stop by the break bad spot for tuco’s drug spot!
