I have been going to Style 2000 for many years. I have always found them to be efficient and reasonably priced. There is rarely a long wait.

Went in for a buzz cut and a beard trim this afternoon as there was a line at Heads down the street and I needed it done today. Service was quick and the hairdresser did a good job, but was a little pricey. Buzz cut was $ 15 — I’d say that’s about five bucks too much(at Heads it was $ 12). Beard trim was $ 6 which I think was reasonable.

Moved here from SF in July, contemplated taking BART to my old barber in downtown SF because finding a right barber is always a hassle. I found this place on Unilocal, tried it based on good reviews, and I am super happy. Just had my second visit here this morning, and the lady remembered me from my first visit two months ago! The price $ 15 for the basic cut, but worth $ 25 to me. Friendly, efficient, attentive to your wishes, and remembers your preferences on the second visit… wow.

I don’t think I’ll be returning here. She totally butchered my hair. It seemed like she didn’t know when to stop cutting. I now look like I’m in the military as I have basically a flat top haircut. Not at all what I asked for. At least my hair grow out fast.

When we moved to Albany, we needed to find a place to get our kids’ hair cut. At the time, they were 2 and 4. Unilocal pointed us to Style 2000, and we couldn’t be happier. The ladies have a very gentle and welcoming manner with children, and they seem to be able to give anyone a great haircut. I also get my hair cut here, and I’m very happy with it.

The 2 ladies who run this place always give consistently good haircuts to me and my family. They are very sweet and at $ 15 cut, you can’t go wrong! Street parking only, but I never have problems finding a spot on the street. I would totally avoid the chain place across the street and come here instead! CASHONLY

After my boyfriend had gotten a fairly good and affordable haircut here, I decided to try it out myself. I was captured by the $ 15 haircut deal. I had long layered hair and only wanted to cut off 4 – 5 inches and keep the same style and shape of my hair. I told the stylist, Mei to take off that much. She persuaded me to take off 6 inches as my ends were very dry. She took off way more than 6 inches; she must’ve chopped off 8 or 9 inches and I was not happy about that. She proceeded to layer my hair but that was very poorly done. The layers were slightly uneven. At first glance, my hair doesn’t look layered at all. I didn’t realize that the price for long haircuts was $ 20 because that was not advertised. I would not recommend this place if you have long hair. A little trim can result in a footlong cut. I am very dissatisfied with my haircut and now I am waiting impatiently for my hair to grow longer so I can get a proper layered haircut elsewhere.

Just want to chime in after all this time that this is still our go-to for our kids cuts. The quality is very good and they are so nice to our little ones. We continue to receive so many compliments on our daughters’ cuts.

My new go-to hair place. Mae made sure she understood the haircut I wanted and was very efficient and attentive. She insisted on giving me a free blow dry so she could make certain the ends were even and there wasn’t a stray lock of hair that she had missed. I’m Asian and have a bit of a weird wave in part of my hair that has thrown a lot of the stylists I’ve gone to. Mae didn’t seem to have a problem getting things to line up. In about 25 minutes, she’d chopped off ~5 inches, put in layers, blow-dried and styled the hair, and had me on my way. Oh, and after a shower and leaving my hair to fend for itself, the haircut still looks good :) Awesome.

I received a great haircut from Lynn over the weekend! I was so happy with it! She took the time to understand what I wanted(an A-line bob). I brought in a picture and it turned out beautiful! She even styled it for me with a curling iron. It was fast, friendly and fabulous — all for $ 15(plus tip). I will be going back for sure.

My husband and son have been coming here for years. They do a great job and are very affordable. If I had to pick a favorite I’d say Lynn, she uses scissors more than the buzzer which is better for their type of hair.

I’ve cried for 3 days after my haircut there. Lynn was rude and unapologetic after ruining my hair. I wanted a long even style. She gave me a short layered style which was longer on one side than the other. I felt like she was punishing me for complaining about her cutting my hair too short. In Asian countries if kids are unruly they would cut their hair short and uneven as punishment. I had flashbacks of my childhood and Lynn was now my teacher.

Great place. Friendly, efficient, and good looking haircut for a very reasonable price. My life is busy; I usually call an hour before I want an appointment, and $ 15 later and under 30 minutes, I am on my way. Tip generously, this is a very high quality yet affordable place.

I recently moved from South Berkeley up to the Hills, so I decided to trust Unilocal in helping me find a new hair stylist in the area. I’ve been a little hesitant after mediocre cuts at well reviewed places in the past, but this time I completely agree with most of the reviews. When I arrived, I was greeted nicely by two ladies, who immediately got me seated and asked what kind of cut I wanted. I’m a guy with pretty long hair, so I just asked them to even it out while cutting as little as possible. In the past, I’ve asked for this at other salons and they ended up cutting inches off of it. I showed my stylist(I believe her name was Mei?) a back view picture of how I wanted my hair evened out. Just 10 – 15 minutes later, she ended up cutting my hair exactly how it was shown in the picture. I was amazed at how quickly and accurately she was able to work. As for comments on the stylists’ English, I think they actually speak it quite well, although my opinion may be skewed because I interact with lots of Chinese-speakers whose English skills are still developing. Their first language is Cantonese, and they also speak Mandarin. I’m completely satisfied with my cut, which was only $ 15(I tipped $ 5 to make it $ 20 total). In short: very friendly stylists, great bargain, fast and accurate, and easy to communicate with despite English not being their first language. I’ll definitely be coming back.

I’ve been going to this hair salon for more than 15 years and I can’t emphasize how consistent and good my experience has been here in all these days. 1) If you want a bargain for hair prices, this is one of those places that offers $ 15 for a good haircut. 2) I’ve been getting my same haircut, a buzz cut, in all the years I’ve gone to this salon and I’ve gotten the same good experience every time. 3) The stylists are very nice, knowledgeable and quite good considering the corporate Supercuts chain is right down the road(Supercuts by the way isn’t the best in the world, never has been). I’d say chose Style 2000 instead of Supercuts. On a side note, I left my coat jacket at Style 2000 earlier this week when I got my haircut and when I called this place to see if my jacket was there, the stylist answering the phone remembered exactly who I was. Talk about photographic memory! The good service here really never changes and I’ve been going to this place since the 1990’s. I hope it doesn’t change. :)

I have been flocking to this establishment since… well since it opened. I have had the occasional times… actually a lot, where I neglected to come to Style 2000 in favor of a relative cutting my hair instead. Yes the name to the establishment is a bit dated, yes they don’t accept credit cards or checks, but the ladies working there are so nice and genuine. They greet everyone who walks in the door… or at least try to, and they do take walk-ins. I think many of the patrons including me is walk-in but that’s not the point. There are 3 chairs for patrons to get their hair cut, I believe two sinks to wash hairs, and a decent, clean place to wait with plenty of magazines to read. I have had most of the ladies cut my hair I believe… I don’t really have a preference on who I go to, its whoever is free at that moment, and my hair cut is fairly simple, although I’ve been told my head is oddly shaped. :( It’s a nice small salon with super friendly employees. 15 bucks for a regular hair cut, pricier more for«longer hair», but its quite the cheap and awesome. Especially compared the more expensive places I’ve seen where they do a lot less and charge a lot more. Regardless enjoy!

Everytime I go to this place I always get the haircut that I imagine it. They are really good and give reasonable prices($ 15 for me). The two ladies that work there are nice as well, and talks to me while cutting my hair so there won’t be a long awkward silence like other places I’ve gone to. Ever since I’ve moved across the street from the horrible«supercuts» that never gave me any«super-cuts», my hair is so much happier now! I recommend this place! P. S. They do take walk-ins

Totally affordable($ 15 for basic spray-and-cut-and-blowdry; $ 20 including tip if you liked the cut). I walked in on a Sunday afternoon, no wait, two Cantonese women patiently cutting hair. I was the only girl, but hey, I have pixie short hair, so the techniques needed may be similar? In and out took about 30 minutes. Clean little salon, and much less wait than Hair which is around the corner. Not the best cut I’ve had, not the worst; very basic. Lots of use of a razor, which has both pros and cons. I usually like a more«piece-y/chunky» look which may be more trendy than what they offer. But for the price and convenience I really can’t complain. Cash only.
