Cheep slimy cheese and total lack of flavor on the three burritos I’ve tried. Tasted like Kansas was trying to make a burrito.

Our food was good, but my mom is vegetarian and she ordered a vegan taco, but she found chicken in it, making it unfit to eat.

Only thing This place has going for it is the carnitas. Everything else is bland and boring. Customer service is lousy and they talk plenty of crap of their customers in Spanish. Go to La Crema further down Solano.

Gordos is an old Berkeley tradition. If you are from LA, don’t even bother, this is a pure mission style joint. All persons can be seen here, from businessmen(and women), students, kids, homeless, whatever. Berkeley natives who move away crave this place every night(I did for 10 years until I moved back). The only thing worth ordering is a burrito, probably a super, with everything in it. The carnitas and grilled chicken are favorites, and the chili verde is also good. Stay away from the refried beans, they don’t belong in there. Any place that has a line out the door every day for lunch and dinner must be PHENOMENAL. If you are feeling especially naughty, order a quesadilla and ask them to put everything in there(rice, beans, meat, salsa, guacamole, cream), it will blow your mind. You’re welcome.

For the best tasting burritos at the best value out of all the burrito joints in the Bay Area, go to Gordo’s. The burritos are chock-full of tasty food and guaranteed to fill you up. I used to get the grilled chicken for many years until going mostly vegetarian. The chicken burrito was delicious but I am happy to report that I also love the bean and cheese burritos. Add guacamole and a spinach tortilla!

Review for grilled chicken burrito. — chicken was very moist and was seasoned. — Rice was not oily and was flavorful. — Spinach wrap was soft and held in the contents without breaking apart. — Sour cream and guacamole added Mexican flavors to burrito — Hot sauce on the side is mandatory to add. It is not too spicy but very tasty and tangy. This is the best place to get a burrito!

If you’re looking for quick, filling and affordable Mexican food, this is your joint. No frills here. I usually get the beef burrito(or super burrito, if I’m feeling ambitious and extra hungry). It comes with the works! Guacamole, sour cream, beans, rice, meat of choice, salsas and they even melt the cheese before so it’s like the«quesa-rito» but every time and no angry looks from Chipotle employees! The super burrito is huge, so unless you are starving, I’d say stick with the regular. It’s about $ 7 for the super burrito, which in my opinion is a great deal. One thing is that I wish they had a burrito bowl. When I want one, I have to go to Chipotle because Gordos doesn’t offer one. They do have a «plate,» but everything is separated and it’s just not the same as being able to mix all the goodness together. Oh well!

Lunchtime with my sister smells great walking through the doors. We are welcomed by a long line which means the food is good. Ok portions but FYI I’m a competitive eater lol. Good supper burrito no wowing factor but good. I do recommend

Crispy tacos for sure! It’s all I ever get. Sometimes I think that I can eat 2 of them, but I’m wrong. I can only eat 1. They’re supper filling but if you’ve got an appetite or just got done at the gym then you should definitely get 2. The burritos are good too. I don’t know first hand but from the lack of talking at my table I think it goes without saying. While the line may seem long you’ll have to know what you want & get your order out without second guessing it. These guys have a fast turn around time even when the line is to the door. It’s obvious who the regulars are but newbies are always welcome!

Big Burritos, can feed a family of four. These things are gigantic. Just kidding but I could not finish my chicken burrito. Salsa is very good, next time just order the salsa and chips. The tacos are large size too. Good flavor and reasonably priced. This location is not very large and you can drive by it on Solano Ave(Albany, CA) and not notice it. I noticed alot of take out orders.

This place here is by far one of the best places for tacos i mean it may be a bit pricey $ 2 tacos but oh they are worth it. They put enough meat to stuff you up ingredients to your choice funny customer service since they are latinos all they do is clown on each other but its a spot where the food is never awful its always on point and just perfect carne asada by far the best but also carnitas. I always get 3 tacos one of each meat there for i dont discriminate lol Place is small but beneficial for takeout I highly recommend this place over all tacos places

Tl;dr: If you’re in dire need of a burrito fix, this is not the place to go. The last time I was here was 2 years ago and I remember I loved it. The meat used to be tender, juicy, and flavorful but now it’s just extremely disappointing. I used to think Gordos was better than the stuff in Socal… ohhh how the mighty have fallen… I’ve been craving Mexican food since I got back from San Diego so I decided it was time to make a visit. There’s minimal street parking on Solano so it’s best to look on the smaller streets. We beat the dinner rush by half an hour so there was barely a line. I ordered a steak burrito but the server misheard me saying an no meat burrito… Thankfully he put steak in when I asked about it because there was barely any room left for the burrito filling. I feel like because the server misheard my order in the beginning, he steamed my tortilla longer than normal because when I started eating the burrito, it was soggy. Not from the meat or salsa but from the steam. There was a lack of flavor in the meat and beans. The cheese had masked the taste of majority of the burrito. It was extremely disappointing. I wish I could leave a better review because I used to frequent this place but I don’t plan on returning.

Unfortunately, this place has gone downhill from when it originally opened. Staff has changed to the point the food doesn’t even taste the same. Grabbed a burrito today to eat while I wait for my appointment at the nail salon next door and the steak was basically all fat no real meat. I was very disappointed since today was my protein day. This place USED to have the best steak ever! I mean non-fatty actual grade A beef and now that they are expanded they are become your typical mom and pop turned big business and have started cutting corners. The food doesn’t even have a good taste anymore it doesn’t have that original love into it anymore. To bad because be been going since high school and now it looks like I’m heading to Berkeley for my Mexican food needs now

Childhood favorite! I usually come here for the burritos because the melted cheese seriously melts in your mouth. Please please please eat this burrito right away otherwise you won’t get that melted cheese taste in your mouth. The burritos are to die for though and I highly recommend trying out a burrito from this place. I have not found any other places that the burritos taste so good. The line can get usually long because it is so popular, but also sometimes they have a hard time understanding what you want.

Took a risk and got a burrito in North Berkeley. Fail. My burrito was cold. My tortilla was not warmed. Rice– no flavor. Weird texture. My burrito was mostly rice. Carne asada– my burrito lacked meat. Okay flavor. Pinto beans– undercooked and unsalted. Cheese was pre shredded/out of a bag and unmelted. Salsa was okay… Guac tasted like it came out of a can. Fail.

I really want this place to be good again, but I’ve went back maybe 4 or 5 times and it really sucked every time. I don’t know what happened, this place was one of the places that rivaled San Diego mexican food, but now its under average… I haven’t gone back for over a month, but maybe one day i’ll give it another shot and see if they shape up to their glory days… Gordo’s was what originally made me like burritos when i was younger, tragic.

First, this is the only Mexican restaurant I’ve encountered that does NOT have nachos. They have the chips, beans, cheese, etc., but you can’t make nachos. Really? Second, poor customer service. I understand being short for a call-in, but a little customer service isn’t too much to ask for. Third, my order was wrong. No sour cream, no guacamole on the burrito. And the burrito was about 60% rice, minimal chicken, and was totally dry. #Fail Next time I’m going to chipotle

Yesterday was my first time here with two of my friends. One raved about this place. Working in San Francisco and sometimes going to «Mexican» food franchises — one in particular — it was a relief to not have to pay an extra $ 2.50 for guacamole. The price of an avocado for a spoonful of guacamole is ridiculous. Anyway, with the super burrito guacamole comes with it — that and everything else you can ask for. I won’t say this place is spectacular, but it’s affordable, filling, and the filling in the burrito is generous. However, my friends speak Spanish and I understand a lot of it. Some of the things they were saying about me were very inappropriate. Maybe that’s why my food serving was generous… Whatever. they could have at least spoke in a hushed tone.

I’ve been coming to Gordos for almost 15 years, it’s been such a staple in my life since I was in elementary school. Their burritos are huge and the workers definitely aren’t stingy. I usually go for a carne asada super burrito, and it’ll last me 2 meals if I’m not super hungry. Also, lines can be long during lunch and dinner hours, but it usually goes pretty fast. If you want to pick up right away, you can call and order ahead of time and then you’re good to go!
