First and last time in. My high hopes were quickly dashed. Ordered combo brisket and ribs to-go along with a pound of burnt ends. When I got home I discovered that I only got brisket and no ribs. The pound of burnt ends were devoid of bark and just regular brisket from the fatty end. The brisket in my rib-less combo contained no slices just scraps. Beans were terrible and thrown away. $ 35 spent and all I have to eat is some mediocre brisket and a soggy cornbread muffin. Cashier was rudely interrupted by another employee while taking my order and became very distracted. Everything went downhill from there.

Awesome BBQ and outdoor eating experience. I’ve eaten a lot of BBQ around the USA… Nothing better than Maggierays…

I walk in at a quarter to 5. first thing they said to me: we open at 5. Guess the meats not cooked until 5. That was the first time I’ve ever walked at that restaurant I guess they don’t need my money.

Our first visit and Taylor, the manager, helped us decide on what to order. Everything looked good on the menu! The food was good(sliders and ribs) and the service was friendly and quick. For some reason there is no sign on the front door telling you that the restaurant and patio are in the back. The small store front facing Danville Blvd. is for take out orders. We will definitely go back, next time we want to try the Burnt Ends.

Love this place! Meat is always cooked well, smells delicious & the employees seem to enjoy their jobs. Theres a BBQ place closer, but I’ll drive the extra few minutes to go here instead every time! YUM!

Found this place during a bike rider through the Alamo. The patio was perfect because the day was nice and we could keep an eye on our bikes. Taylor was our server and is also the manager. Great customer service and recommendations. We ended up having the sliders(brisket) with a house salad and a beer. It was just enough food because we had to ride our bikes back to San Ramon. I was able to check out some of the meats in the smoker when Taylor was taking them out. But we will definitely be back to try the ribs and other menu items. Cant wait to go back! Thanks Taylor!

Visited tonight with Leslie and her Mom Doris. Leslie and I split the 3 item plate. The ribs and Brisket were great! First time tasting the Hot Link which was very good. This was our first time sitting down inside. Nice place which I will be back to eat in the future!

Much improved. Kinda. Meat was great, fries were really good and crispy. But that bread as terrible, killed the flavor of the sandwich. There was far too much bread in relationship to meat amount and it also wasn’t even really toasted. If I had to guess, Safeway brand. Honestly 13 $ for a brisket sandwich and the bread kills it, also not much meat on the sandwich itself. Disappointing but better then last time.

I ordered the half chicken and brisket combo along with the beans and the fried brussels sprouts to go. I should have looked at it before I drove home because there was literally no sauce on the meat! Like maybe a teaspoon on the bottom of the meat so that was very disappointing. The sauce I did taste was very good though and I really liked the chicken. The brisket was pretty flavorless especially with no sauce. I liked the beans and the Brussels sprouts good enough. I would come back to try the ribs and the chicken again and just make sure to get extra sauce.

This place has amazing BBQ, hands down. I stopped by last week to pick up some brisket, and it delicious. Their BBQ sauce compliments their meats nicely. I also tried the baked beans, which wasn’t bad, but not great by themselves. I chopped up some of the brisket and threw it into the baked beans, and it turned out pretty good. Downside is the limited parking in front, but not too big of an issue. Great food, will definitely be back soon for more brisket!

I had a tri tip sandwhich and a 1⁄3 rack of baby back ribs which both were $ 10.95 each. The tri tip sandwhich was a 6 inch french roll that was buttered up and a big heaping of thinly sliced brisket. I know that tri tip sandwhiches don’t typically have vegetables but at least they have cheese. What topped it off was that the brisket was very tasteless and lacking any flavor. I had to slather bbq sauce to make it edible. I was rather disappointed with it and didn’t finish. It came with garlic fries and they were ok until I got to the bottom where there was a puddle of oil. This made the fries on the bottom, nice and soggy. Not a good thing! The ribs were the only winner of the meal. They were fall off the bone and moist. I didn’t think they would be very meatey since it was a 1⁄3 rack but I was wrong. If the brisket in the tri tip is any indicator of what Maggieray’s serves for their normal brisket. It’s not a good sign. Stick with the ribs here.

3.5 Stars. Maggierays has some high points and low points. Their brisket which I did not order but tasted was pretty dam good. The BBQ chicken I ordered was nuked to death(made me think of the new mad max movie!) and not very good. The sides were a mixed bag. Fries were good but the cole slaw was just lacking of any flavor what so ever. Onion rings were good and their ribs and pulled pork sliders were very good. Probably the best part was dining in the back patio which is really chill and very private… great for our party of 14.

To get to the main restaurant you will need to go to the back of the building. Parking is very limited. We have always done street parking. It looks like a family owned restaurant, not a big chain. The atmosphere can be a little dark. There is a flat screen TV. There is additional tables in the courtyard. Sometimes there is live entertainment which is pretty cool. The burnt ends, ribs, brisket… any type of meat is oooh so good. It is tender and juicy. Prices is on the range for any type of BBQ joint. They certainly do get busy and when this happen service can be lacking. But the good food makes up for it. The corn cake was different from the typical corn muffin. It was a good different. It was very moist. We are repeat customers and will come again.

Hidden little gem in Alamo located on Danville Blvd. The storefront seemed rather small, but the staff encouraged us to go around back since we had our dogs and we were surprised and delighted to find additional seating(both indoor and outdoor) that backed up to the creek. We ordered a few different things to try. My husband was a big fan of the pulled pork. The. Cornbread was good, but we felt the baked beans needed more sauce. Would love to come back and try some other items on the menu!

Just a cool laid back vibe. I ordered the brisket Burned End sandwhich with a side of healthy beans. I didn’t know there was more seating in the back — with a patio and indoors. There is some sitting in the front but you can get more of a «greasy-BBQ-on-cheeks unembarrassed no shame table sitting in the back.» A flat screen tv and a few beers. So don’t worry about a dress code. Just show up with an appetite and you’ll walk out with a smile. The deco is a little worn and the service is real chill, but the food is so good. I wouldn’t bring your girl here to impress her but Id bring her dad.

The family and I have quite a bit of feedback for this place. It’s easy to miss as you zip down the road and even easer to miss that they have space to eat. Hidden around back behind the little row of shops is an indoor and outdoor eating space with table service. When we got there at about 5:30 we were by ourselves, by the time we left just before 7 it was really busy and the single server was having difficulty keeping up with the folks(she really could have used some help). Our server was fun and helpful. Her suggestions were spot on, she knows the food they serve well. She always had a smile for us, even when the place was really busy but service did slow down quite a bit as the place filled up. Once it was about half full she didn’t ask if we wanted refills on the water or drinks anymore because she was so busy filling peoples orders. Now, as to the food — overall I’m really happy with the place. The ribs, pulled pork, and brisket all had a good smokey flavor, so it feels and tastes like a real BBQ place and not somewhere that just tosses ribs over a grill. The flavor did a good job of penetrating the ribs. We started with the onion rings. They are truly home made style with thick cuts of onion, dipped into a good liquid batter(no crumbs) which provides a smooth style of coating with crunch and softness but not overly oily. They also under cook the onions just a bit so they have some snap. My wife and I agree that it is the right way to cook onion rings, too many places cook them until the onion is mush, but this place gives you a cooked but still solid onion. My wife and I both had ribs. The flavor of the meat itself is really good, and the two sauces they have(mild and hot) are both good. There was a good darkness to the outside and a soft inside meat that I really like. It stuck to the bone a bit tighter than I like for something slow cooked but I didn’t have to fight it. I also had the burnt ends, which is a part of the roast beef on the edges. I really love the crunch of the char and the mixture of meat and fat. I’ve been places where they pull it like pork, or what you are given is super dry but there was none of that here. The burnt ends from Maggieray’s are easily the best I’ve had to date. They were cubed crunchy nuggets with smokey outside and a soft and juicy inside. I’m not sure how they pulled it off, but it was amazing. My son tried out the pulled port sliders. He said they were good, but wasn’t enthusiastic about it. Pulled pork is generally what he gets when we go to BBQ places and he found it too heavily sauced and soggy. For sides we had the cole slaw, beans, fried Brussels sprouts, and the corn cakes, The cole slaw plain and watery, nothing special or to set it out so take it or leave it. The beans weren’t really sweet, and they weren’t really savory. My wife prefers a sweeter baked beans and these«were okay». The Brussels sprouts were good but needed a bit more seasoning(or some bacon and onion cooked along with them). The corn cakes, which are really corn muffins, are outstanding. Super fluffy inside I didn’t even want butter to go with them. All three of us liked them, though my son wasn’t happy with the actual corn kernels cooked into the bread. Finally we come to the beignets. I’m more accustomed to getting the pillow kind, but these were much denser than regular. They were still fluffy, but each had the same consistency as the corn cake but with a crunchier outside from deep frying. They aren’t as sweet as I expected on the inside, there was a touch of sour, almost like they used a lemon or sourdough starter as part of the dough. I enjoyed them, but neither my son or wife cared for them much. I’m going to ask them about the batter next time I’m there, are they supposed to have a sour touch or were ours off? I will be back, that’s for sure. I want more of those burnt ends.

Legit BBQ spot in the east bay. Not really a BBQ expert, but I’d say this is a solid 4.5 star restaurant. The only reason why I wouldn’t give it a 5 star is because I’m not crazy over BBQ in general and sometimes the service can be a tad bit slow. You must get the coconut covered shrimp, they are actually jumbo shrimp and not the cheapy kind. The marmalade dipping sauce pairs perfectly with the sweet, crunchy, hot shrimp. Their coleslaw is on point. I hate when places drench their coleslaw in mayo, their dressing is rather late but tasty. MUST get the cornbread. I would give their cornbread 5 stars alone! It’s just so good you don’t even need butter! Also their seasonal side, fried Brussel sprouts were delish! Pulled pork had tons of flavor, BBQ chicken was not dry and their ribs had plenty of meat to fill your empty tummies. Speaking of which, you will definitely not leave this restaurant a dissatisfied hungry customer. Their spicy BBQ sauce is yum-o to boot!
