We only recently discovered this place. It’s become our go-to place. The chicken shawarma is AWESOME! So delicious I could eat it every day! Extra tahini sauce for me. Service is great. Although I’m sure he must get tired of explaining what the menu items are he always does it kindly. The prices are great! The menu has lots of options.

After a coworker suggested this place for lunch, we stopped by. I ordered a gyro and a side of hummus. I always try hummus from different places because since I have returned from a Persian Gulf deployment I have yet to find authentic tasting hummus like overseas. Wow! It was exactly what I was looking for! No added seasoning/flavors…just good sesame/chickpea goodness! I will definitely return even for just a hummus fix! Also really quick, good, friendly service…

Sad to say this place is on the downhill slide. I wrote to the owner about an unpleasant experience on 1÷7÷16 and have yet to receive an acknowledgement. Our complaint is exactly what Chloe C. also shared on 12÷30÷15. Hello, I’m hoping this message reaches the owner. We have been frequenting Troy ever since it opened in Alameda. Last night when we walked in for dinner, 3 tables had patrons while the other 4 had dirty plates. We ordered from two young ladies behind the register; sat down but since there were no clean tables, we had to move dirty plates from our table to another. We waited for our food and watched the two ladies behind the counter just sit and chat, completely unaware of the fact that the tables need to be bussed and floors cleaned. The dining area was just plain dirty. About 10 minutes after ordering, we noticed more customers coming in and looking around for no clean table to sit at. I still couldn’t believe how inattentive the employees were, so I finally asked to the two ladies to clean the other tables. They looked at me in disbelief; then one came from around the corner to sit down at one of the tables to chat with some customers. Unreal!

It is very a dirty place. The food is okey. Service is bad because when we said we gonna eat here. Waiter was playing on his phone instead of cleaning the table for us. So we were siting on a table with dirty plates. And once our food is ready, he just set it next to the dirty plates and when I told him the gread touched the dirty plates. He said he will get us new bread. But he never did. I would not recommended.

Good side: 1. Delicious Greek salad 2.Tasty Dips: Tzatziki, Eggplant, Hummus 3. Very good Feta Cheese 4. Nice looking menu on the wall 5. Have very specific Greek dishes — Pastitsio and Moussaka(I haven’t seen those at any other Greek place in the area) Bad side: 1. Mexicans making greek food 2. Baklava too dry 3. Olives with pits 4. Falafels have too much seasoning/spices going on 5. Food is not brought together(They brought my food first and my husband’s came ~6 mins later).

I enjoy coming here before or after a movie for a quick yummy lunch. But today the pita is stale and no one is bussing or wiping up the tables. Plates full of food at three tables haven’t been cleared in more than 30 minutes. Only one other customer came in, but the girls working here are having a lovely chat and playing with their phones.

Check your carry-out orders. Troy is not concerned that you get everything you paid for.

They are skimping on their food. When they first opened, the gyro platter comes with actual grilled vegetables, rice, gyro and pita bread. It was an actual meal. Now they have raised their price to $ 11, what i get is more of a gyro salad, gyro mean, ½ a pita and cucumber salad. WTF?

This place has ok food. The service is too slow and understaffed. The inside is too small.

This small portion of food cost me $ 9!!! When I realized that this was not enough food & went back in to order a side of hummus they wouldn’t accept my debit card for a $ 4.95 purchase, & said it had to be $ 5 to use my card(even after just purchasing $ 25 worth of food that was not enough to fill 2 people), they proceeded to ask me if I wanted extra pita instead of just charging me $ 4.95, so I just said forget it I will never eat here again. The salad looks larger in the picture, than it really is @ about 4 ounces. The spanokopita were 2 small triangle 1″ x 2″ large. Don’t get me wrong, the food was tasty, so if you are accustomed to overpaying for food then this is your place.

I really love the food and service! I get the chicken souvlaki or falafel. Their fries are amazing, too. Always hot and well seasoned. I only wish the restaurant had a bar and were larger.

I ordered the Gyros Platter, which is described on their menu as «Beef and Lamb gyros, tzatziki sauce, and grilled vegetables». What I got was stupidly far from the description. Two quarters of pita bread, several thick slabs of lamb meat that was akin to salty vulcanized rubber, and a sad pile of tomatoes and cucumber. No actual gyro wraps, not even a full pita, meat that is WAYTOOTHICK for gyros, and no grilled vegetables. Since I ordered it as take-out, I didn’t see the sorry excuse of a meal till I was already home. Will not return to this place.

Whenever I come visit my friend in Alameda and we’re feeling healthy but not super hungry, we come here to Troy’s. Troy’s always hits he spot, from their good food to their friendly hospitality. It’s a bit small but, it’s never been too crowded when I’ve gone here. And the portions are spot on. I’m always full once I’m done eating but not bloated since the food here isn’t too heavy.

Really a great gyro. I’ve literally tried to eat one in my car at least ten times. It doesn’t end well. I always call my pickup order in from the nail salon, and the order is always ready about ten minutes later. It’s a REALLY good gyro. They come in two sizes… I get the regular, and it’s large for me. The place seems clean. The staffer is efficient. Parking? Street parking only. I think there’s a garage nearby, like maybe a block over, but don’t quote me on that? I go to this area pretty regularly, and I’ve always been able to find a metered spot within five minutes.

This little Greek restaurant is so much more than meets the eye. At first glance, Troy looks like a tiny, normal place to grab lunch. But the food cooking in the back is so, so much more than that. My sister recommended this place for lunch, and I’m so glad she did. I ordered the Mediterranean Platter which comes with chicken, rice, and tahini salad. The chicken was super flavorful and juicy. The rice was great(especially if you put some of their hot sauce on it!) and the tahini salad was very unique and refreshing. If you’re looking for a great lunch spot in Alameda, try Troy!

I am a fan! I had a Greek salad wrap even though it’s really simple but I like Greek salads and read good stuff about it. I was really happy with what I got and it was filling with a side of Greek fries. I don’t know what made the fries«greek» but the outside texture looked slightly different than regular fries. It didn’t have a different taste than regular fries but they sure were delicious! They were super golden and perfectly crispy. The husband had the lamb souvlaki plate and he loved it. The lamb was seasoned so well and was juicy. I don’t like lamb but I tasted it and it wasn’t as gamey and the favors of the seasoning were to die for. We both personally liked it better here than Q Halal chicken a couple doors down. I will definitely be coming back and probably trying the Mediterranean plate. I love olives and feta cheese too so next time I get the Greek wrap again I think I’ll add those on in addition.

Dear Troy, Oh troy, troy, troy… you are one of those places I always drive by and say to myself — I should try that place, but then never seem to get around to it… Then I did. And ever since I’ve gone to you several times. Your gyro is solid. The chicken schwarma was pretty good. Your fries are delicious. Love the fact that there is ample sauce lying around to pour into my dish. You are everything I expected you to be(is that good or bad? heh). The debate that only alameda people would know is who is better? you or halal. You guys are literally neighbors. I admit I go to halal more than to you, but mostly because their quantity is larger and their gyro combo is such an excellent deal. I only wish you also have some sort of «combo» that adds those delicious fries of yours, a drink with your gyro. But where you shine are your great fries and a cleaner gyro taste. So it really is a matter of preference and even for me, how I feel that day. Either way, glad you are here. Keep up the good work and keep that gyro delicious and full of meat. oh fries are good. did i mentioned that? fries.

Gyros are somewhat of a rarity around these parts, and good ones even less so. Thankfully, Troy has got the goods. Not only do they pack on the meat on each of these guys, they also come in a 9″ variety — that’s a lot of gyro! Everything was real fresh, and just one of those things filled me up good. The shop itself is kind of small, but it has got some prime real estate right across from the theater. Perfect for pickup, kind of so-so for dining in(though you do get to sample their great hot sauces if you do).

This is my go to place for Greek/Mediterranean food. Wherever I go to eat this cuisine, my heart always goes back to Troy because it simply can’t be beat. Troy is the reason I now love Greek/Mediterranean food. My love of this cuisine stemmed from the beef/lamb gyros from this place. Their pita bread it ALWAYS so freaken good! You can order it by itself from the menu, and it’s warm and fresh every time! The meat I always get are the beef an lamb kabobs that they chop up and put into my gyro. The vegetables that go into the gyros are always fresh and crunchy. Whenever I eat here I fall back in love with the gyro every single time. There is no comparison to the deliciousness that is Troy’s gyros. AND their fries are awesome.

Order at the counter vs. table service at the College Ave location. I was disappointed to find that the menus are also different than the College Ave location and they don’t have the Chicken and Lamb Souvlaki Wraps here so went with the Gyro wrap in a 7 inch size(also have 9 inch versions of the wraps). Tightly wrapped with nice fresh produce( ). Soft pita and good amount of pretty standard gyro meat. Could have used a little more tzatziki( ). I think the onions at the College Ave location were grilled vs. the raw ones here. Tasty red & green hot sauces in squeeze bottles on the tables. I’m not sure why, but I was surprised that the Green was the spicier of the two.
