This place has really reasonably priced café goodies and is great place to take kids. It can be a bit crowded if they have an event going on, but otherwise it’s worth a trip.

Great spot around the corner from my house. Friendly staff, variety of drinks and snacks, and free wifi! I come here often when I work from home. The ginger peach tea and the cranberry walnut cake are both solid choices. I’m a homer for local business and it’s good know there is a place where WFHers, stay at home moms(w/their kids), and neighbors can all hang out around the corner from me!

This is the anti-Starbucks. Local owners. Homey atmosphere. And most importantly GREAT coffee. I come here when I am working remotely. It’s so much better than working at home. Free wifi and they don’t care if I’m parked here all day as long as I buy a couple machiatos. Only don’t come here if you need complete silence or will be on the phone. There are kids and other activities going on here. Which is part of the charm. Great place, come check it out.

This has been such a great find. With nearly two year old twins, it’s been very hard to find anywhere that I can have an entire coffee while sitting down. Crosstown has a corner set aside with toys and the kids can stay occupied while their parents can have a quiet morning coffee and(excellent) croissant. The staff are very nice, and although the place is very kid friendly, except when they’re having special kid events, it isn’t overrun. It’s a great place, though I do wish they had a few more food items.(note to previous reviewer — although I understand that there is some church affiliation, you’d never know it)

First visit today — some of the best drip coffee I have ever had. Fantastic tea cakes and blueberry bread. Roomy place with great play area for the kids. Not sure if it was so quiet, we were the loud ones there. Easy street parking and nice neighborhood to walk off your caffeine buzz. Service with a big smile. I loved it and will be back. PS I saw no overt signs of religiosity.

Great little local coffee shop that is roomy and great for studying. It has Free WiFi and computers along with a playpen to throw the the kids in when you need some privacy. There’s also open mike and a piano that’s provided as well. There’s Sofas, books and live music on occasions as well. There’s also a cute barista that works there occasionally.

Really nice people there!!! Good food… about as good as you can get at a café, in my opinion… kind of loud sometimes, with everyone talking, but then again, it adds to all the liveliness and«companionship» and such. For me, it’s a great place to stop if I’ve been biking or walking for a while and I want to take a break and enjoy the Alameda scenery while sipping my cocoa!!!

Great coffee. Iced and hot. Nice people to deal with. And with a little one growing, I can see this being a good place to hang out with the kid. Very kid friendly. Wish there was some outside seating, but I am sure that has to do with some zoning laws. I know this place is affiliated with a church, which at first had me nervous. But to date I have not dealt with any«Magic man in the sky» talk or promotions. Great place!

This is one of the BEST, FREE places to hang out with your Mom’s Group in all of The East Bay. They have tons of room with comfy chairs and couches, FREE Wi-Fi and two computers you can use FREE, tons of toys and a gates«child» area, ramp for your stroller(s), changing tables in BOTH the men’s and women’s bathrooms and they serve great coffee drinks, water, juice, yogurt, cheese, pastries and delivered-free sandwiches at 11:00am everyday. I don’t drink coffee so, I can’t comment on the quality but it’s a lovely place for arts & crafts with your toddler on Wednesday mornings, for a sing-a-long with Cowboy Jared on Friday mornings and to just spend a few hours, letting your child play, read books and/or draw with their supplies while you relax with a cup of Joe and your laptop.

The staff proselytizes. It’s blarf-worthy — like I need yet another person telling me I should go to church or BURNBURNBURN? Shut up with the gawd talk and gimme my freakin coffee. On second thought, keep the coffee, I’ll drive alllll the way to ILLY near Webster st. for better coffee, service, views, ambiance, munchies, and LACKOFIDIOTICXTIANGROVELING. Praise jeebus, my foot. Pass the pentacle.

Crosstown is a café with a real community feel. They are always friendly and the atmosphere is relaxing. Coffee and goodies are yummy too. There are weekly activities and as a mom with 2 kids, I really like the play corner and books. There are all kinds of seating arrangments, perfect for kids and strollers or adults, groups or singles. There all also evening events targeted primarily at adults or older kids(open mike). They also display local artists’ work, which I think is a great addition.

For some reason, people don’t like this place because of it’s association with a local church. I haven’t been to church in ten years, and they don’t seem to mind. There aren’t two different coffee blends that I could find; you know, one for the saved and one for the people that are going to hell. Who cares? The folks are friendly, and the brew rack is a pretty cool way to get a cup of coffee. I hadn’t seen something like that before until I came here. mochas and lattes are smooth, there’s plenty of comfortable seating, and a decent selection of pastries.

A very sweet, spacious, relaxing place. Loved my freshly made chai — how unusual and what a difference it is to have it fresh rather than from a mix. Enjoyed my time sitting on a comfy sofa listening to a woman play the piano and sing. Great parking, awesome neighborhood, cute building. I’ll definitely be back!

This place is awesome, especially the staff! They are probably the nicest people you will ever meet, always warm and friendly and ready to greet you by name. coffee is great – they even have the option of a brew-by-the-cup drip bar, and they started to serve sushi! Their gourmet sandwiches are above average for coffeehouse fare, and the seating area is bright, spacious and happy with many outlets and funky décor. Great tea selection too. I genuinely enjoy this place, whether it’s for an afternoon of study or to meet a friend to catch up. Convenient location, never a problem with parking, either.

Cowboy Jared is there to entertain every friday at 10:30 am. It’s a beautiful spacious place that is usually pretty peaceful. Good place to read a book with a little one.

Located in an historic building on the corner of High & Encinal. Coffee is good, pastries not bad… Mango iced tea is my drink of choice. Also love the blueberry muffin bread. I meet up with friends at least once a month here. A nice change from the cookie cutter coffee houses that spring up so frequently. A plus… they feature different local artists on the walls and on stage. I’ve been to a few of their concerts and throughly enjoyed them… they have open mic every Thursday night, free knitting ‘how– to’ on Wednesday… Cowboy Jared for the little ones every Friday morning, a real community sort of place.
