A quiet, low-key place — the only coffee shop that I was able to track down on Bay Farm Island. Probably a good option for regular coffee, since the owner seemed to carry an assortment of coffee blends. Else, the raspberry mocha was a decent option. Other than that the coffee menu wasn’t too extensive, but did the job(in lieu of me not wanting to drive to the near-by Starbucks on 98th avenue or the one on Edgewater blvd., Oakland). The owner seemed to carry a very small selection of bakery items. Someone said that he buys them from Costco, and recommended that he buy them from the local ‘Feel Good’ Bakery. I disagree. Those are worse, and unreasonably expensive. This place has no wifi which does seem weird for a coffee shop. The place might have a lot more traffic, if the owner offered wifi. Also most definitely he accepts only cash payments. Too many clauses for a scantily populated coffee shop… Wish he did more to rev up his business from his side, only because a business has to be compelling enough for a customer to return.

Coffee is ok, but lacking in extras around sugar and milk options. Also is cash only. Shop hours also limited so may not be open when you stop by.

This is not a good coffee shop. The drinks are gross and the service is terrible. The inside is duty and too small.

Fresh coffee and pastries. Located across the street from the golf course. Lots of tables and chairs indoors and outdoors.

I ordered a medium light roast drip coffee(which they charge more than starbucks for) and it tasted like burnt coffee. You know the awful taste if you’ve ever had it. so I asked if I could have the dark roast instead. The owner said no. He said I can buy a new cup of coffee if u dudbt like it but that next time I should ask to taste before I order… ? What? That’s crazy to me. I’ve been an avid coffee drinker for ages and have had my share of bad coffee or bad experiences but I’ve never been forced to drink bad drip coffee because they wouldn’t replace it. I don’t even know what to say, except that it meant he would rather lose my future business over cents… actual cents that it might cost him? I didn’t appreciate the owners attitude and I won’t be returning… which is a pity because I just moved to the area and always always always pick small mom and pop places… anyway, what’s cool is that it was such a terrible experience it got me to Unilocal which I hadn’t done in foreverrrr. So thanks dude… I’m back!

Thank goodness I had cash with me today so I could enjoy my Friday morning breakfast here. I do not come often but I like to support local business owners so I plan to definitely be a repeat customer. Very laid back atmosphere and the owner is very nice! Service with a smile is an understatement! Pastries are good and there is variety. I love that he had peanut butter cookies they are my favorite but they are hard to come by and it’s Friday so don’t we all deserve a little treat?! There were two people in line in front of me and the owner remembered both of them and their orders. Great neighborhood spot. I can’t wait to try other things on the menu!

PROS: The owner, Mike, is SO nice and friendly, always greets you with a smile. I appreciate the loyalty of the locals. Tables outside for enjoying the nice weather. Only place on Bay Farm to get a cup of coffee or tea. CONS: I love to support and promote locally owned and operated small businesses and I wish Mike would do the same. For example, how about providing baked good from a local bakery like Feel Good, rather than Costco. How about supporting Bay Area coffee roasters like Four Barrel, Ritual or Blue Bottle? Even offering Numi tea or Republic of Tea would be an awesome addition. Also, offering almond milk would be a nice addition for those who do not do dairy or soy. Thank you.

Great local family spot! It’s been around forever and you can tell by the clientele, that they are locals and regulars. Great for families and the elderly, and the young. The coffee is very strong which I like! Its also convenient, in that its the only coffee shop in the area that people who live on Bay Farm Island can actually walk to, without having to drive 10 minutes downtown just for a coffee!

Had to meet up with a friend early one morning and decided to stop for coffee. Cute little coffee shop inside a shopping center. Owner is super friendly and service is quick. I ordered a mocha and it was pretty good. Support local business!

Wandered in here lookin for a quick caffeine fix. I wish I had read reviews before ordering because then I would have opted for the mocha everyone seems to love, but Instead I got plain ol’ good coffee. Coffee was good, it’s bad if a place can’t just get coffee right. The man there who I think was the owner was very friendly and pleasant. A couple retired folks just hanging around there reading the paper n such. Sitting there sipping on my coffee I remembered how much I miss and love Alameda. It’s such a nice quiet neighborhood and it felt so nice just soaking up the atmosphere. It’s a good place to just unwind unlike hectic loud chain coffee shops. Just too bad they didn’t have wi-fi because my boyfriend really needed it at the time.

A coffeeshop without Wi-Fi? What kind of madness is this?! Coffee and Tea Traders bucks the whole 21st century thing, seriving as one of the last Internet-less bastions to get a cuppa joe. The Mr. Espresso coffee is par for the course, but the location is great — not only do you get that amazing lagoon view, it’s a stones throw away from Safeway/Anytime Fitness!

There are always so many people here. The tables are usually crowded with locals. I have also had a few meetings here with clients. Its not the best place to meet customers because its noisy and the lighting is bad but it works. There is a really cool mural that looks like a painting from one of my favorite artists, Maxfield Parrish. The other thing that I noticed was how impeccably clean everything is. The owner is constantly cleaning and organizing. I was impressed. The coffee was very good and they are always full of the accoutrement’s to go with your coffee. In a pinch I will always come here for coffee.
