I haven’t been to every Applebees in the country but I’m pretty sure this is the worst Applebee’s in the United States. We placed a large order so we called in early, like 4 hours. They took down our name for the order and our phone number. 4 hours later we go to pick up the order and they tell us that they cancelled it. They say it’s because they’ve been receiving prank calls. If that’s the case then they should have called to confirm with us or taken payment over the phone. Unfortunately for us at the time when we went to go pick up our food nothing else was open, so we were stuck. We re-placed the order – we easily spent $ 200– and they give us all the scrap meat, scrap chicken, the portions were terrible. Our university and our teams will never eat here again, and we will tell all the teams in our conference to never eat here. Applebee’s Alameda, you guys SUCK!!!

My friend and I had a sudden craving for Applebee’s boneless wings, and this was the closest one to us over in Berkeley. We saw the negative ratings going in, but figured it couldn’t as bad as people were making it out to be. Surprise surprise, it was everything Unilocal told us to expect. We arrived around 3:30pm, and the place was a little less than half full. Despite this, we had to put our name down on the waiting list and were told to expect a 5 – 10 minute wait. The restaurant is located in the middle of a large shopping center, so we just walked around for a while and came back. When we got back, they were about to have us wait longer, until I pointed to an empty table and asked if we could just sit there. The hostess’ response was basically just«Oh sure, go ahead,» with no acknowledgement that we’d been waiting around for no apparent reason. After finally getting our table, we waited another 10 minutes without having any server come by — despite a mostly empty restaurant. We could see a bunch of servers clustered in the back chit chatting amongst themselves. Eventually we got fed up and approached them to ask to have our order taken, at which point we got to wait another five minutes for someone to approach us. And, finally, we got to wait another twenty minutes for our food to come out. Now the food wasn’t terribly bad; it was about what you’d expect from an Applebee’s. Yummy wings and solid mozzarella sticks. After our experience up to that point though, it would have needed to be heavenly for us to be satisfied. We left grumpy and resolved never to go back. I don’t like leaving negative reviews, but sadly I have to recommend you go elsewhere for your meal, unless you can overlook absolutely atrocious service.

In my opinion this place doesn’t deserve any stars what so ever! I don’t like writing reviews for restaurants because I know it’s not easy being a waiter/waitress. But this ISNOT the first time I have come to this place and gotten either the worst service or NO service at all. Last night my boyfriend and I came in and the guy at the door was nice and he seated us. I swear we sat there for 15 minutes no one ever came to take our order or bring a drink. NOTHING! Now I don’t like ordering from those little ordering machines on the tables because they don’t necessarily have all the options that I can just ask for from the waiter/waitress. Sitting there I was just observing the place, one waitress or hostess whatever they were was talking to a customer at a table, 2 other girls were just folding the napkins with the spoons and knives at another table, and there was some others just chit chatting and walking. It was NOT a busy night at all. There was maybe 4 tables taken and probably 2 people at the bar. Regardless it wasn’t busy so even if it was short staffed I’d understand the wait if it was busy. But it wasn’t. So we got up and left and the girls at the table say thanks for coming. My response to that was what do you mean thanks we didn’t even get served. I wasted my time coming there. Absolutely worst Applebee’s ever. I avoid going there also because another time we went there with some friends a waitress was so into her phone and how she has to leave, she was so rude and none of us were happy with her what so ever. I haven’t seen her there the few time we have came but if it was up to me I wouldn’t have even tipped her. How do you expect to get tipped when your service sucks, makes no sense. And I swear their management is constantly changing. Needless to say I nor my friends will ever go to that Applebee’s again. How disappointing. Your goal must be to lose customers not gain them. Get a new crew and new manager that will actually do their jobs. Because this Applebee’s had some lazy ass workers.

I used to love coming here. Loved watching the warriors have some good food with great people. Until tonight(1-25-2016) i got my bill paid for it and on the way back to my table, the waitress Erica lost my card. She says she gave it to the table behind me, but that table left before i even got my check. She looked for about 5 mins and couldnt find it. She said the manager would be over to talk to me but he never came, my sister in law had to go get him. He simply said there is nothing i can do. So thanks to erica my card is now lost or stolen.

Wow what can I say. The greeting at the door was nice and then it was all down hill from there. The waitress kept forgetting things so she would have to come back and ask 2 – 3 times. As well and spending 5 minutes after every table she went to with her friends who were there. So I ordered the chicken breast with the side of rice it was one of the deals… The rice was so bad I had to use a knife to cut it apart because the bottom was so burned as well as the chicken was so dry I had to drink water with it to get it to go down. Then the waitress told us to hurry up because she was getting off shift and she wanted her tip before she left. GARBAGERESTAURANTYOUWILL Probably HAVEBETTERLUCKATANYOTHERAPPLEBEES. Save yourself

While waiting for my doctor appointment my husband and I decided to have a quick bite to eat at Applebee’s. It had been years since the last time we had eaten at one and the commercials we see on tv look decent enough. We were seated quickly and the staff was polite… that was the highlight of our dinner. The food was HORRIBLE. The salad was nothing but wilted lettuce with bland dressing. The meal itself was served hot but the chicken tenders and fries had a weird aftertaste. The«plate» resembled a small prison tray or a tiny cookie baking sheet. I had a few bites of my salad and chicken and left the rest. Don’t waste your time eating here.

We usually come here because while the service is a bit on the slow side the employees are pretty friendly and the food is tasty. Tonight however was probably the worst experience I’ve had, at this Applebee’s or at any restaurant really. First we were confused because the neon sign was not lit up despite it being dark outside. We thought it had been shut down before we saw the dining lights were on. When we went inside there were already two groups in front of us waiting to be seated. That alone was odd because yes there was a Warriors game on but while the bar was full there were a lot of empty tables around the whole restaurant. Crystal, who I assumed was the hostess, marched over and literally THREW some menus into the little kiosk they have there while mumbling to herself and not acknowledging any of us. That was so startling and made me anxious. She sat one of the groups in front of us and then disappeared for another long while. It was long enough that a few more families joined the line that was now out the door. Those of us who had been waiting a while looked around at the empty tables wondering if we should seat ourselves and wondering where Crystal went. When she came back, the other group in front of us said they had been waiting to be seated first. He said they had put their name on the list to be seated and Crystal began arguing that there was no list, she was alone(she didn’t seem to be, there were other employees walking around), and then she POINTED at the group she sat and said«that lady in the purple shirt walked up to me first». At that point they began arguing back and forth and people who had been waiting started to leave. We opted to leave too as we did not want to give argumentative and aggressive people our money. We ended up going to Five Guys only a short walk away. This was a terrible experience at a place we like to give patronage to usually. I have never seen an employee at a restaurant THROW anything or act like Crystal did. It will be a while before we return to this Applebee’s.

I remember when Apple Bee’s served good food. Now it sucks. Everything tastes like it has been microwaved. I don’t even know why I gave this place a 2nd try. Overpriced microwaved food and bad customer service. Plus they have a bunch of people with no manners as employees.

We have gone a few times and it is touch and go. The service is the down side. Takes way to long to get a class of water. On more than one occasion appetizers came out with entrée and it was after a 25 minute wait. Lack of communication on our servers side as well. We can be reasonable but let us know if you are backed up. She did not check in on us at all. She took our order left, brought our order and brought the bill. One shining star was Deric who did check in on us even though we weren’t assigned to him. Don’t plan on going back. Also, I will say service seems better if you sit at the bar.

So I ordered my usual(cause i go to apple bee’s often just at a different location) just to find out that they apparently cook it differently here it was gross! and I had to constantly keep waving down our waitress. It’s been awhile since I have been here but I was having dinner with my little one and a kids menu was going to do the trick. I gave 2 stars because our server was really sweet. I dig polite servers. I ordered the sirloin steak with grilled onions and stout gravy it was on special and came with no veggies so I had to add a salad. Kinda disappointed in that. When the steak came it was covered with raw onions and had a few potatoes. I inquired about the onions because I love grilled onions. He offered to bring me some… it took over 20 minutes, my food was super cold by then. It gave me the sads because I came in with low expectations and they didn’t meet them. It was the same old Applebee’s that I remember.

WOW. This was my experience tonight: A party of 3 of us got there around 5:15. Ordered some drinks and appetizers which came out on time, then placed our entrée orders which took LITERALLY an hour and 45 minutes to come out. A manager stopped by our table to say that he would comp off our orders and that the ticket got lost, and that he would also pay for our desert. We receive our bill with nothing comped off. A server comes by to tell us that she will fix it. We receive the new bill with the dessert still on it, and she says they«comped off 20%» of our bill. Where was the manager that told us he would comp off our food?! No where to be found. I JUSTWASTED3HOURSOFMYLIFEATAPPLEBEES. Never going back there even if someone pays me.

Yep, the two stars this place has earned is a good representation of what you’ll get coming here. First, we waited five minutes before being even acknowledged and brushed into a booth without any kind of enthusiasm or generic«how’s it going» exchange. Next, when the server comes… She takes drink orders(no issues here, she managed to bring the water and lemonade no problem), then comes back for orders. If you’re going to not write down people’s orders I suggest you a) listen to them and make sure you understand what they want, and b) remember it. I ordered something really very simple, and described what I want in a sentence so simple I’m not sure how it ended up coming back with cheese I didn’t even mention(what?)… Then when I asked for, again, what I wanted and pointed out no cheese… It came back with two other ingredients I hadn’t ordered. Ugh. Luckily these were easy to pick off… I didn’t want to wait another 10 minutes for my food. Then, after we ate, we waited. And waited. She came and collected our dishes. Then we waited more. And then we waited more. If it had been super busy… No problem, I get that. It wasn’t busy in the slightest. The food was fine. I give mine a C. Wasn’t bad by any means… But definitely wasn’t good. Matt said his was good(burger). I remembered why I don’t come to Applebees. Nothing particularly redeeming. I take it back… They seem to have good teamwork in their total mediocrity.

A very solid dining experience, with great value. I only sit @ the bar. Faster service and drink(adult and non) refills. Josh is a great bartender and is always open and accommodating to my special requests. Also enjoy most of the characters when I have time to socialize. This trip I had the Double Barrel Whiskey sirloins with chef’s medley vegetables subbed for garlic mash. Meat was medium as requested, tender with just the right chew(every meat should not fall off of the bone, and very flavorful. I did request some Kosher salt, but now the offer sea salt and I enjoy this as an replacement to table salt. It’s about 40% less sodium. I look forward to to returning soon. Thanks guys.

Horrible slow service and the place was empty. Took forever to get our waters. Our food came out before our appetizers that apparently got lost and never ordered. Our waitress never came to check up on us nor did she card us for our drinks. She was completely clueless of what was going on with her customers! Me and my family have been coming here for years and tonight was just unacceptable!!! We also ordered jaeger bombs that cost $ 8.25 and that shit was the smallest shot EVERRR!!! Do not come to this place for happy hour during the week because the staff SUCKS big time!!! If I can give this place negative stars I would!!!

Let me start off by saying I really like Applebee’s. The food is always great and there’s so much I’d like to try. The prices aren’t usually too bad either. The two stars are for this location specifically because of the service. I came here in a group of 4 on a Monday late afternoon so it wasn’t busy at all. But the service was still so slow. It took forever for a server to get to our table to even ask for our drinks. They have the new touch screens on the table so we thought maybe we’re supposed to just order on those. But nope, about 5 minute later a waitress came by to welcome us and ask for our drinks. Since it took awhile, we already knew our orders. From then, it still took awhile to even get our drinks. The pattern remained for the rest of the night. Still, the food is enjoyable and their happy hour is good too!

Date: 5÷10÷2015 Time: 6:05PM62° Intermittent clouds Twenty-five years ago, Applebee’s was a decent place to dine. Well, this place has gone downhill in quality and service. It’s Mother’s Day and my daughter wanted to take me out to dinner for the occasion. I chose Applebee’s, taking into consideration her financial budget, and I did not want her to go beyond her means. The waitress was friendly, but somewhat unattentive. I can only speculate that she really did not want to be there. She brought us two glasses of water, but did not ask if we wanted any type of cocktail beverages. After a little while, I went ahead and ordered the salmon platter, which came with steamed red potatoes and sauteed spinach. The salmon was fresh and tasty, but not enough of a redeeming factor to keep my rating at three stars. The steamed red potatoes were just that… plain and lacked seasoning. I mean it had no butter, parsley or garlic. A wild rice pilaf would have been a better side accompaniment. We had bread plates, but no dinner rolls or warm sourdough bread. The chocolate mousse was overloaded with crumbled Oreo cookies. My daughter had a shrimp pasta dish with broccoli. She said her meal was also meh. Has Applebee’s gotten so cheap that they are not replacing their place settings? The first knife that I used to cut the salmon had a broken wooden handle(see photo) and part of the blade was exposed… no bueno. One of the screws on the second knife was somewhat loose, and there was a small gap between the handle and blade. Again, no bueno. Suggestion: Applebee’s needs to toss those broken knives out. I was at this Applebee’s in July 2014. The food and service were okay back then. Unfortunately, Applebee’s ain’t what it used to be and they need a major overhaul. One final thought: At least I am not heaving and/or having Hershey squirts from what I have eaten. However, I will not return to Applebee’s for another meal.

They have a big menu and I wasn’t sure if we would get quick service and we did. We ordered the 2 for $ 20 specials which were good for lunch. We ordered the 3 cheese chicken penne with caesar salad and the cedar grilled lemon chicken with house salad and both were good and filling. That just hit the spot for a healthy meal.
