Pretty disappointed after seeing so many positive Unilocal reviews. We were looking for a quick breakfast with a diner experience on a weekend morning. The ladies who worked the counter were real nice. I have no issues with them, but the time to get our food took forever when it wasn’t really that busy. It took nearly an hour to get our order for just eggs, toast and hashbrowns, and the food was just OK. Seemed like the cooks in the back were working hard, but I’m not sure what they were doing since the restaurant wasn’t even half full. Seems like they have a lot of loyal customers, which is good. Maybe I’ll come back to try again, but overall, I wish it was a better experience.

Don’t know what is going on with this business. Been waiting for them to re-open for over a month now. Sign on the door says they would be closed for 1 week due to «construction». Been way more than a month and still closed. Unilocal hours show«Open now». Ignore that. They are still closed. Wish they would update and let their customers know what’s going on. Been phoning them and nobody answers the phone. Hope the business is not permanently gone.

This café has been«under construction» since at least March 4th(4 weeks ago), even though the sign still says closed for one week. I know for certain because on March 4 I was in the hospital and asked my husband to drive to Albert’s to get me breakfast. Thats how much we love Albert’s café. We love the the people here, the friendly atmosphere, the simple but classic breakfast favorites, great portion sizes, and the perfectly poached eggs. I hope that Albert’s really is closed for construction and not closed completely. I thought it was odd that the phone has been disconnected.

I love coming to Albert’s. Good American breakfast. It’s a simple diner feel. Portions are large and price not too bad. It’s pretty packed during weekends but week days is empty. I just get simple over easy eggs, hash brown and bacon with my lite diner coffee. Simple American breakfast. Love it!

Can’t say enough good stuff about this family owned greasy spoon! It IS a greasy spoon. There’s no two ways about it but it’s good, an experience and the staff are genuine people folk. Don’t know what to get? The Rodeo is a classic. The Hippie is a specialty. But we go for the Huevos Rancheros. Always. Two choices of coffee: diner or Peets. The bacon is spot on, and thick enough. The kids love it. And we can’t wait till they unveil the«new» look! Plus, the story of the past, the middle and now… heartstring pulling. Inquire!

As its my birthday today, it was planned that for breakfast we would go to alberts as its been a fam fave for decades. My wife went to the website, and there was no notification of them being under construction at this time. So imagine my sadness when we walk by and see the windows covered and an ‘under contruction’ sign inside. Very disappointed with the lack of attention of notifying their customers when things like this occurs. Not very professional at all. As much as I adore Alberts, they are not and cannot be immune to criticism, especially where lack of professionalism is concerned. And as much as i would love to give nothing but a positive review, if you don’t hold up your end of the business outside of the door… that including the newspaper, internet, etc… don’t be suprised when you have to own up to it and take your lashes

Can’t go wrong with this diner. Probably the best one I’ve been to. The servers are amazing. Work really hard. The food is good! The location is awesome and it really has such a homey feel. Been here on several occasions and it’s just the best fix for breakfast brunch!

Take-out review: As a long time resident of Alameda, this was my first time at Albert’s Café. My boyfriend and I were looking for a quick, no-frills breakfast place to order take out from. I always pass by this place so I thought we’d give it a try. After looking at the menu online, we came in and ordered. The hostess/waitress greeted us and told us to sit anywhere. Once I told her we were ordering take out, she handed us some menus(although I already knew what I wanted). She quickly came back once she saw me close the menu. After ordering a breakfast burrito with egg whites, hot cakes and fries, she offered us some water. Less than 15 minutes, our food was ready, along with some butter and syrup to go. Although no utensils. Breakfast burrito was pretty tasty. It was good enough for a hard to please vegetarian. Pancakes were so-so. Large portion so it was more than enough, especially for the price(inexpensive). For your basic breakfast needs, Albert’s can be your go to place. Quick. Simple. Bön appetit!

perfect for that slow sunday morning. when you’ve got nowhere to be and nothing to do. in other words. slow service and unlimited coffee refills is what this small mom and pop shop is about. omelettes are crêpe style. thin egg filled with whatever goodness you choose(rather than mixed into the egg). waffles are thin and crispy. and it’s reasonably priced. breakfast overall is good — covers all of the breakfast staples. the quintessential a-okay, 3-star rating.

The food was actually pretty good, but the service was terrible. Our server didn’t crack one smile, and my food was delivered 15 minutes before the rest of my parties food. We asked her to split the check(evenly, 3 ways, not that hard) and she responds with«are you serious?»… I am serious that I will never be back to your restaurant.

Service was slow and food was just okay. Took us 20 minutes from being seated to getting menus. There were flies everywhere… On the walls, on people, in the syrup bottles!!! Staff were snappy at each other, and constantly out of what they needed: coffee, mugs, plates, you name it. We were first given a check saying it had an incorrect item listed but the price was the same, only for the waitress to come back and take it because it was for another table entirely. Just really not impressed with the service and cleanliness of the place.

ATTENTION: many of the previous reviews are very good and the most recent ones are not. The reason for this is that the previous owner and cook alfonso had a brain aneurism and due to that he sold alberts to someone else and those owners brought business down and are the reason why some of the most recent reviews are so bad. The restaurant was sold once again and Presently the restaurant remains in the family. Alfonso is back and helping out which means the food and taste you al love is back aswell :)

It has been well over 20 years since I last ate at Alberts. Used to take my daughter there when she was a toddler,(28 years old now) Took my 18 year old son this morning. Was great. Service was super on point, wish I got her name food was awesome, bacon was just like I like it, real krispy! Only bad thing is I didn’t get to see Alonzo. Don’t think I would recognize anyway been so long. Glad to see its back! Keep up the good work

My husband and I wanted breakfast, but we did not feel like driving to Jack London Square area to dine at Buttercup Grill. Albert’s Café isn’t far from our home; thus, a pit stop at this tiny diner style café. This café may not be all fancy-schmancy, but it sure can hold its own. Front counter has about ten stools. Maximum seating capacity throughout the café is about 20 people. We walked in and made ourselves at home. I guess we can be a little bold at times. The waitress was busy with other customers. No need to say good morning and/or hello. We just grabbed two menus off the front counter and sat at a table for two. We figure she’ll come around to serve us. I don’t trip too much of not being greeted immediately when dining at a greasy spoon joint. You just roll in, grab the menu, order food, eat, pay for the meal, roll on out of there, hop into the vehicle and head home. Per my husband, the coffee is weak. The breakfast portions are generous and the prices are reasonable. The service is decent. The place is clean. The food is edible and it’s all good. Even though my hash browns were slightly charred, they weren’t that bad. My chicken fried steak with country gravy hit the spot and I was content. The next time I will order my eggs sunny side up instead of scambled. Generally, I like soft scrambled eggs and I should have specified that. The scrambled eggs were cooked a tad too long and they were not fluffy. Definitely I will return to have their huevos rancheros and/or other items on their menu.

DONOTLETPREVIOUSREVIEWSMISLEADYOU — this place is terrible. It seems as if they’ve undergone some managerial changes and it has led them to be worse off. My party and I entered and were not greeted — then treated like we were a nuisance and should have known to sit down(at the dirty tables no one wiped down). Upon sitting down, none of the three workers spoke to us until one abrasive women tossed us menus, walked away and loudly complained to her coworkers about needing a break. She then disappeared. After a few moments, without us saying a word, her coworker approached the table to take our drink order — she emerged from the back and told him she would get it — and the two then engaged in a very confusing back and forth over who would aid us. After a wasted 20 or so minutes, we just stood up and left while the woman failed to understand the issue. Save your time and head to Café Jolie down the street and let this place shit it doors like it should have months ago.

Was craving pancakes for breakfast this morning and wanted to try someplace new. We found this place on Unilocal and decided to check it out since our first option was crowded and parking sucked. So we drove here expecting some pretty good food. We walked in and within 30 seconds, we walked out. Here’s why: — the place is super small(like half of the café is a counter top and the other half is lined with tables) — it’s a dirty greasy dive spot — smells like an old fryer — the«welcoming» greeting that we got came from two older aged server ladies that said nothing but gave us these dirty looks — no «hi, we’ll be with you in minute…» but this unfavorable look. Might give this place another try sometime in the future.
