The staff are always friendly and they even let you sample a flavor if you’re not sure you’ll like it. The prices are right in line with the rest of the ice cream stands in the area. I like that Handel’s has so many flavors. I never get the same flavor twice because I want to try them all. My favorite so far has been the butter pecan. Unlike other ice cream places, there are whole pecans in the ice cream. So good! My husband’s favorite is the key lime pie ice cream. He says it’s tart and has chunks of crushed graham cracker in it.

Oh man. There’s none better. I can’t get past the dark chocolate with huge chunks of PB in it. My DH likes the coconut. THIS is the gold standard. Even the VANILLA is the best ever.

Handel’s. Lemme tell you about Handel’s. So my best friend’s sister works at Strickland’s. I am usually all about loyalty, but when I had a desperate craving for a chocolate malt milkshake, Strickland’s just wouldn’t do. I need to warn you that chocolate malt milkshakes are a gateway dessert. They have a zillion different flavors and unusually enough, they don’t sacrifice quality for quantity. Red Velvet Cake, German Chocolate, Chocolate Cake Batter, Banana Cream Pie, and Blueberry Cobbler are my top favorites(notice a baked-good theme with my preferences?). Oh. And Malt Chocolate Caramel. Seriously heavenly. Three bucks and change will get you a pint of whatever flavor you want(or if you’re like me, and you ask nicely, you can have more than one flavor in a pint). $ 5 gets you a monster sized sundae or a huge milkshake(I’m pretty sure it’s 2−3x the regular milkshake’s size… probably a good 7 – 8 scoops of ice cream). No, I could not finish. Yes, I drank the remainder for breakfast the next day. Don’t judge. Now, if only I can convince them to let me stick my head under the caramel pump…
