Tara gave me a super haircut! She listened to me looked at pics, and was funny and engaging. Ample parking, good prices… next to a tattoo parlor if you are into tats!

First time visit due to Unilocal’s good reviews. However, I feel very disappointed :(. With $ 45 dollars hair cut, I expected a better services! Check in with my hair stylist «jasmine”(she doesn’t smile at all! Well I guess she is too tired at the end of the day). She starts with shampooing my hair but the water is too hot!!! God !!! Like burning !! Usually when I go to any salons shampooing they will start with warm water and ask if the temperature is good enough. But here with hot water and no asking. Not very professional:(!! Hair cut is so so ! My bang is all over my eyes I told her is bugging my eyes, she said probably is the way she blow dry !! Before I had a hair cut at Pearl ridge mall only $ 20 dollars after hair cut, they always offer me gel to get my bang out of the way of my eyes. But in here with what in pay ! It is not really worth it! I don’t think I will come back again :(

I starts coming to see Tara and the Desire staff over two years ago for hair cuts. Since then I have had color, up dos, nails done, and hair treatments to restore the shine, strength and over all health on my hair. I have never left disappointed. I hope when I have to move back to the mainland I can find a Saloon as professional, friendly and knowledgable as Tara and the Staff of Desire!

My first experience with a Brazilian blowout was amazing! I got back the shine in my hair that was gone for years! No frizz. Your hair looks just as nice even being out at the beach all day!
I would definitely refer Tara whose an expert on hair!

Tara is so sweet and always does an amazing job with my hair. This time around I had her do my sons hair too and she was wonderful with him! I often have to come in early sat (9am) because of my schedule and she always accommodates me with a smile!
Note: I have baby fine/​thin hair and she cuts it so it looks full with tons of volume.

I found Ed @ Desire Salon and Spa on Unilocal. (If you have a difficult time getting through to someone; be patient because it is well worth the wait!)
I arrived a few minutes early on a Saturday afternoon and Ed was waiting for me at the reception desk. He sat me down at his station and asked exactly what I was looking for. I had a few pictures to show him and he explained in detail what he planned to do. (I love the fact that he’s not chatty but can carry a good conversation.)
I had my hair cut, highlighted and colored to cover my grays and 2−½ hours later, I had the most amazing hair! Ed is, by far, the best stylist I’ve had and I will definitely be back to see him! (As a matter of fact, I have my next appointment already scheduled!)
On a side note, the salon itself is not a «fancy» place with lots of glitz and glamour, so if that’s what you’re looking for, this is not your salon. If you want your hair to look fabulous though, this is the place!

found them on Unilocal and the reviews was good so i gave them a call. i was able to get an appointment that day!!! everyone was super… nice and helpful and i was there for an hour.
i got the best shampoo but a super sweet lady and got my hair cut by a guy (best hair cut i ever got) then got my hair straighten and styled by another lady. sorry i forgot there names but they are all super nice and work together as a team. i’m so loving my hair!

Based on reviews I scheduled my appointment with Tara, the owner. She did an awesome job with highlighting my hair blue and cutting my hair. She gave me awesome advice on where to go to get blue hair dye since I am not a big fan of the low lights when the color washes off. But I would definitely go back to her again to color my hair.

This place is a little salon in Pearl City with a tiny parking lot. Granted, it’s not the fanciest salon out there, but I believe they do quality work. My husband and I were half an hour early for my appointment, and the staff offered us a beverage. Within 15 minutes of waiting, my stylist, Ed took me.
He took the time to look through my pictures and understand what I wanted done, and then took me to shampoo my hair.
The shampooing itself is wonderful, it is very relaxing, he even massages your head and neck while washing it.
Ed was very gentle while combing out my hair, and he didn’t jabber at all while cutting/​styling it, which I prefer. I don’t like a lot of awkward, extensive, forced conversation between a stylist and his/​her client.
He gave me exactly what I wanted. I asked for minimal changes to my hair because I’ve been growing it out for 3 years. He obliged. Layers, side bangs, and a little thinning out with as little cut off as possible. My hair has volume once again, while still having length. If you ever come here, ask for Ed, he’s great!

I leave for a vacation tomorrow and last minute I decided to trim my hair. After eating at Shiros in Aiea I looked on Unilocal and chose Desire after reading so many reviews and ratings.
When I called to inquire I spoke to Ed and he set me up to come in an hour. No biggie, it is a Saturday so I just checked out Best Buy across the street. Anyway, Ed calls me after 40min and said he could take me earlier if I wish. Perfect timing!
Ed gave me exactly what I asked for (long layers for a healthy trim) and I also waxed my brows. For a wash, cut, blowdry/​style, and wax my total was $ 60. Not bad at all. I’ll be back for sure.

I’m so happy to have found Desire Salon and Spa. I’ve been looking for a place on Oahu — anywhere on Oahu — that could give me the cut and color that really suits me. After several disasters in «Town» at salons with a view of the ocean, I went looking further afield and fount Tara! She not only listened to what I wanted but gave it to me … And more! The cut is perfect! The color, spot on! And she told me how to keep the blonde from turning brassy even though I swim 4 days a week in chlorinated pool. She’s right! Redfin works! It’s been 4 weeks and the color still looks new.
It appears that the salon staff really love working together and love what they do as well. I was offered several refreshments and noticed that there are several beauty services offered as well. I will definitely be happy to refer you to this salon for your beauty needs.

Very happy customer with my haircut and will definitely be back for a touch up on my highlights! New to the island and decided to make my first hair appointment here based on other Unilocal reviews. Tara is awesome! Warm and friendly. Great technique. After the cut, she asked if I’d like a few curls since I had the rest of the day to enjoy the new do. Very satisfied! Good atmosphere and a nice touch on the free drink menu. Enjoyed my iced tea on a happy aloha Friday! Watched a few of the other stylists while I was in the chair and looks like their clients were also happy with their cut/​color/​style, too!

It was my first time there today, May 30, 2015, and I have to say that Desire Salon’s five star rating is well deserved.
I called in the morning to inquire about having my hair cut and styled, and Tara answered all of my questions and made me feel at ease about going there. She also set up a same day appointment for me which was very convenient.
Once I got to the salon I was greeted immediately and was given a menu of drinks to choose from which was complimentary. There were a variety of choices from water, juice, coffee, alcoholic beverages for those of age, and so much more.
Both Ed and Tara took the time to discuss with me what I would like for them to do with my hair. They were very helpful and insightful regarding how to best manage my thick, curly hair. Ed did an awesome job cutting my hair and transforming it from being unruly into a sleek, A-​line bob.
I’m very happy with my new hairstyle, and I’m so glad to have found this salon. I will definitely be back, and I highly recommend going to Desire Salon for any of your hair needs.

I love this place! Tara is a sweet heart and goes out her way to help. I have a story but I won’t waste time on that because it has nothing to do with the store other than the fact that it happened there. She cut my hair today and when I couldn’t word what I wanted, she patiently worked with me until we got the final result! From what I’ve seen, the other stylists there are super awesome too!

Tara and the Desire Salon staff are amazing. Time and time again I come and I am never disappointed. Tara is who I usually see and she is truly talented. She is honest and knows her talent.

I just had to give a huge shout out for Dannie! I have very curly, dry, color treated hair. I visited her and she was wonderful. She did exactly what I asked her tondo AND she had some suggestions as well. She was very thorough and just a great gal!!! My hair is now short n sassy and looks great thanks to her. Compliments keep on coming and every chance I get I’m name dropping Dannie!!!

With my life and schedule being so hectic sometimes when I find myself having 2 to 3 hours for myself I try to schedule some me time pampering. On this particular day I had called my regular salon to see if I could schedule a Brazillian and of course they were booked solid. So after scanning Unilocal I found some great reviews about Desire Salon. So I called them and I was lucky enough to get a same day appointment with Tara.
Upon my arrival I was greeted by Tara herself and asked if I was interested in a complimentary beverage…“just like the salons in the movies”. Then Tara led me to the waxing room and it was a beautifully designed room that was very serene and clean. Tara did a great job and gave me some good tips on caring for the area in between visits. I will definitely be returning here for future pampering occasions.

Not the same without Sarah being here. But everyone is still wonderful!

OMG NALANI is an eyebrow goddess!
I have been growing out my brows for a couple of months so I could get it reshaped. After reading the Unilocal reviews I decided to go with Desire salon and spa and it’s a big plus that the salon is conveniently located between pearl city and aiea. No need to drive into town for a quality wax job! My before and after should be proof in itself but I must say I truly love my brows after Nalani worked her magic. I think she mostly does hair but she said she’s «obsessed with brows» and I appreciate that she took her time and made me feel welcomed but wasn’t too slow where I was counting the seconds to get out of there and wondering what went wrong (like I have at other waxing salons)
My brows are the perfect shape now not to thin, not to thick, but just right. Def going back to see Nalani :)

I absolutely Love this place! I’ve been here a few times for different services and I have never left disappointed or dissatisfied.
Nalani is freaking wonderful and so great at what she does. I have super curly/​frizzy crazy fro going on that not too many stylists know how to properly style so I’m always hesitant to try a new stylist. I’m so glad I found this girl! She’s done a few of Brazilian blowouts and left me hair looking fabulous. She even did my friend’s hair who also has curly hair and my friend absolutely loved her new do! I would HIGHLY recommend her.
Nelly is super nice and great too! I think she specializes in up-do’s but I haven’t had the pleasure in having her do one with me. She did my very first Brazilian blowout and I’ve been hooked with doing the blowout since then!
Kalani did my up-​do for a military party I went to with my boyfriend. I didn’t have a preference on how I wanted it styled, so I just let him kind of do what he wanted to. It turned out very mature looking and I was very impressed! Unfortunately it started to fall out a little before the party even started but in Kalani’s defense, I got my hair done in the morning, hours before the party even started and I ended up jumping around and playing on the hotel room bed. Just had to put a few extra hairpins in myself and everything was fine.
Kylie is absolutely wonderful at waxing. She’s a cute little girl and so funny! But still very thorough!
Please make an appointment here! You will not be disappointed! And just FYI, they offer you a complimentary glass of wine while you’re doing your hair… Awesome!!!
