We’ve eaten here a few times and we enjoyed it, but things seemed to be different when we ate there again this weekend. The burrata appetizer was quite small, and the burrata overly soft. Instead of being drizzled in olive oil it was practically floating in it. It had a good flavor although the mushy feeling was not especially appetizing. I had a duck stroganoff which did have a very nice flavor, but you needed a magnifying glass to find any actual duck in it. There was a total of about two level tablespoons of shredded duck in the entire entrée. For dessert I had a scoop of the home made bittersweet chocolate chunk ice cream. No chunks, just a pretty standard scoop of chocolate ice cream. The final insult cam with the check. I had ordered a martini, up(no ice.) It came in a medium to small martini glass, not well chilled. I was charged $ 2 extra because I ordered it up, not over ice. When I asked the waiter about it he said that because there was no ice in the glass, they had to use more alcohol! My wife’s bourbon and ginger ale and our friends mojito were both served in narrow, medium height glasses filled with ice — a couple of sips and the drink was gone except for the melting ice. I have never seen a restaurant so stingy and devious in the amount of alcohol in their drinks. We won’t be going back.

This establishment has been consistently excellent in my 4 years of satisfactory dining here. The Brussels sprouts appetizer is a must. So far this is the only consistent fine dining establishment in what is the gastronomic wasteland of the«Conejo Valley». Sad. Hopefully, 15 years from now we will go beyond sports bars, fast food chains and BBQ.

Make sure you order the filet. These steakhouses like Larsens could learn something about meat by trying one. By far the best I have ever tried. And those mashed potatoes served with them are the best!

Café 14 deserves 5 stars! Every time we dine there the food is consistently outstanding. My favorite items are the chicken pallard, the miso baked sea bass, the duck confit salad.(served during the summer), and the best chicken pot pie you will ever have!!! There is a great selection of wine by the glass and wonderful cocktails. Like desert? the chocolate bundt cake is to die for! And there are many other wonderful desert options. The two chef owners come up with an amazing execution of the menu. I love this restaurant and so does everyone we’ve taken there. Christine C

Dishes we had: — Halibut — Amazing flavors, thick and juicy! — Lamb Chops, Rib Eye Cap and Homemade Sausage — Amazing flavors! — Jumbo Shrimp and Scallops — Made in a tomato sauce. — Brussell Sprouts(shared on the table) — One of the best we have ever had! Scott was our server, and was an excellent waiter!

The best restaurant in the area, especially if you are a «foodie» and super critical about everything like I am. Everything is on the menu is good, the wine flights are well thought out, everything is perfectly portioned. The meat and fish are always cooked to perfection. It is 100% worth the money, especially when you compare it to other restaurants that charge similar prices and don’t come close to this quality.

My wife and I have dined here multiple times in the recent years and the one thing we like is that they stand out compared other restaurants in the area. The service and food is so much better than what is around. Enjoy this place we sure will.

Great place. We had the scallop appetizer — it was awesome; some kind of leek/apple reduction or some such thing. Also did the Halibut, which was good, not great. The service was good but slow; considering a less than full house. The fresh bread, which we had to ask for, was awesome. This place is worth a visit! I get the chef, there’s lots of specialties to explore.

My husband and I had a very nice dinner last night at Café 14. He started off with a very cold and dry martini~ just as he likes it. The bread basket was delivered promptly with two types of warm bread to dip in a tasty tapenade. We shared the special burrata and blood orange salad along with the cauliflower to start. I had the salmon over coconut rice in a curry broth which was delicious and my husband had sand dabs. We were too full for dessert. The atmosphere had a lively vibe, and the service was attentive. We will definitely go back!

Due to previous bad experience with the food and being chastised by the owner in front of my guests for bringing two bottles of wine, have not been back in a couple of years. Decided to give it another try. Sadly, was disappointed again. While the server was attentive(hence two stars) the prices of the food was over the top. Had a piece of salmon that only came with a scoop of white rice and no vegetables. Price for a small piece of salmon and gooey white rice was $ 39. Add a salad for $ 13 and a dessert for $ 12, you are looking at $ 70 per person that doesn’t include drinks. Way too many other fine restaurants in Thousand Oaks-Westlake Village to chose from that gives you much more fine food for your money.

Really this review should be four and a half stars. My father found this place via a «fine dining 91302» web search. My mother and I were not disappointed. We were seated promptly once we arrived, and were at once surrounded by warm conversations and laughter from other diners. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, and the décor has a soft beige theme accented with paintings and a large silver-framed mirror. My mother and I agreed that there could have been more effort put into the décor, as some of the walls were a bit bare. I have to add that attractive waiters also added to the pleasantness of the place! I listed this place as «classy» due to the etiquette of the servers. We were offered white or black napkins depending on our pant color, silverware we used for our appetizers were taken away and replaced before our entrees and our server, Nick, wasted no time clearing our plates and refilling our drinks. One note I’d like to make, is that we needed to remind our server to bring us water. I saved the best for last. The food was exquisite. We each ordered desperate appetizers which consisted of jumbo shrimp with Thai sauce, a poppyseed arugula salad, and roasted Brussels sprouts tossed with vinegar and walnuts. Each of our plates were wiped clean, no question. For our entrees, my father and I ordered a special which was halibut coated with lemon juice atop scalloped potatoes with kalamata olives. Very tasty and cooked to perfection. Mother opted for a menu item with was crusted San dabs layer across buttered asparagus. She also enjoyed her dish and was happy with the serving size. **Sadly, I noticed a small(half inch) hair at the bottom of my dish by the time is was already finished. I made no note to the waiter as it was very insignificant, could have easily been mine, and did not interfere with my appetite.** Lastly, we were presented with our banana bread pudding made with rum and drizzled with caramel, as well as a complementary vanilla bean ice cream to celebrate my parent’s anniversary. I enjoyed this restaurant very much and would gladly come again. Happy eating!

Went there last Friday. Had a reservation at 7:30 — walked out at 7:50 after receiving nothing but a glass of water. No interaction from our water in that 20 minute time other than«tap or sparkling» — Love this restaurant — have eaten here numerous time over the years but I am sensing a decline in the service level. We were in the patio and the way it looked to me was that our waiter(solo) had at least 5 four tops and a couple of two tops, of which 3 or 4 were seated within minutes of each other. The table next to ours(two top) had been there even longer and had to receive their cocktail order(at least they got to place it :) They also walked out shortly after our party of four. Would I go back? Not sure — I do truly enjoy the food but the waiter and the front of the house seemed truly clueless as to the absolute poor quality of the service being offered up. Kevin

Café 14 is a hidden gem. And I mean hidden. It is in the rear of a small strip mall on Canwood St(which is the first street north of the 101 Freeway off the Reyes Adobe exit). This is not a restaurant that you stumble upon by accident. But it is well worth seeking out. Everything about this place is 5 stars, starting with the food. They have the menu divided into 2 parts — small plates and full sized. My wife and I decided to share one of each. We started with the Thai Three Pepper Shrimp($ 19). The dish has 5 jumbo shrimp(yes, the name is confusing). The shrimp are prepared with a sweet/tart sauce that is very yummy. We followed that with the duck stroganoff($ 23). FABULOUS! We finished with a trio of ice creams for dessert — butter pecan(the best of the trio), mint chip, and Mexican chocolate. The service was also 5 stars. Nick, our server, came to our table almost immediately after we were seated. He explained the specials, answered some questions. Really nice attitude, making us feel very welcome. The busboy and food runner also did an excellent job. Ambiance: The restaurant is pretty small. It makes for intimate, romantic dining. The tables are very nicely spaced so we had privacy in our conversations. Value: Wow, this was a great value. The dishes are very reasonably priced, especially when you consider the quality of the food, the presentation, the service and the setting. I will definitely be back here — often!

I’m so happy that after having lived my entire life in Agoura, I finally found a nice restaurant to take my parents for special occasions :) Café 14 is located in an unassuming strip mall of Reyes Adobe, tucked away in the back corner nxt to a yoga studio… yeah, I know, not selling it so far. But really, this place is lovely! Décor is modern and sophisticated. The lighting is a little dark to add some romantic mood. The service was very friendly, and I would recommend making reservations before you go. The food is also really really good. Great quality and reasonably priced. Try the Duck, it’s a classic :)

Café 14 is the kind of restaurant you want others to know about, but only enough to keep them in business. Sorry, Café 14. Tucked away on a plaza, like most places in Agoura Hills, this is not what you would come to expect to find. An elegant, quiet restaurant. Perfect for a date night or a very enjoyable meal with friends. Dim lit, classically decorated, and very well staffed. The four of us order the usual, left hand side of the menu. To be more precise, we sampled many appetizers and several entrees. Without going into too many details, all of the dishes were very well prepared and for the exception of minor execution errors and my personal pet peeves, this is a place I would trust to cook my pasta, steak, fish, and dessert. Whether you live in the area or just stumbled out from a nice round of wine tasting, do yourself a favor and make a reservation at Café 14. You won’t regret it.

It all started with a coupon and the next thing we knew, we were having a gourmet delight in the middle of the week, imagine that? Roasted Moroccan cauliflower in a light vinaigrette sprinkled with cilantro, golden raisins, turmeric and yogurt tickled our palates… next came pan braised Chilean sea bass, served on a bed of steamed spinach and porcini mushrooms presented in a gingery sauce. For dessert we shared a delicious caramelized banana bread pudding. Our server Scot was very attentive and spot on with his recommendations. There’s ample parking and indoor/outdoor seating. This was a great dining experience and a wonderful mid week break!
