Let me start off that I have an insatiable sweet tooth(but not too much with fudge). This was recommended by a family friend as THEBEST fudge shop in Traverse City so we had to stop. I was in Mackinaw Island the week prior and went to all of their shops. This location doesn’t seem like it would be the best since it is a little out of the city center yet this is where all of the fudge is made. Even if you don’t have a sweet tooth just go there for the show of them making the fudge. From heating it in the copper kettle, to putting it in the frames on the tables, to whipping air into it, and forming it. It really is quite an experience. We did get 4 half pound sections(if you buy 3 you get one free) and they have around 20 flavors of fudge. On top of that they have a whole section dedicated to other sweets and specialties of the area. The fudge is super rich, tastes amazing, and was a hit with the family and went super quick when I brought it into work for my colleagues to try out. Stop on by for the show and leave some room for all of the samples!

Look for the large box of fudge on the roof to spot this shop. As soon as your walk in the door the delicious smell of fudge welcomes you. That is enough to convince a sweet tooth to buy a pound. Samples are given by request. Choices range from traditional chocolate to black cherry; nuts or none. A small area of Michigan souvenirs is also available. The only downfall to this place is location. It is on US31 which can be rather busy. To make a left turn out can be a challenge — driver beware.

This fudge was fantastic, creamy and fresh with lots of delicious big cherry flavors in both the dark chocolate cherry and the white chocolate cherry. So rich and tasty, I wish you could get it outside of the Traverse City area!

Excellent smooth creamy fudge. A diabetic’s disaster. If your palate prefers the drier crumblier variety, this is not the fudge for you. Small selection of local foodie items, such as cherry salsa and cherry BBQ sauce. Worth at least one visit when you’re in Traverse City.

My niece and nephew came to visit over the summer and we decided to stop in since its on not too far from the beach and i’ve been living in TC for over a year now and have never had it, even though i drive past it everyday on the way to work. I was blown away! It was so GOOD! I have never been a fan of fudge but Doug Murdick’s Fudge is Delicious!(with a CAPITOL D) Yes, that’s how yummy it is! At first it seems a little too sweet, but you start craving it! Next thing you know its all gone! That’s exactly what happened to us! Definately going back!

Best fudge in TC. I have been visiting this store since I was a wee young lass. They have always been the best… people try to imitate and they just cannot get anywhere close. It is kind of sad… I am spoiled… I can never really have any other kind of fudge(outside of Northern Michigan/Mackinac) anymore. I travel to other states… visit candy shops… smell the delicious fudge… and it never comes anywhere close. If you visit Traverse City you MUST stop here.
