I grew up in Chicago and this is almost identical in taste and texture as to what I grew up on. I have been going here for years now and have never been disappointed. As for Bill B. he is probably used to the California designer pizza for yuppies. GJ’s is the real deal and always awesome.

The one star review above is ridiculous. I love GJs pizza and so has anyone who has ever tried it with me. It has a thin crust but is foldable. Their sauce is great and they hide the toppings below the crust. To top it off they cut into squares as opposed to rectangles. Delicious and unique. Try it for yourself and you’ll agree!

I would rather not write a review when a place is this bad but all the positive reviews changed all that. How anyone could give this a positive review is absurd. Worst pizza(if you can call it that) I have ever had. Crust was like card board. It’s not hand tossed, it’s machine pressed and perforated like some frozen pizza used to be. This poor excuse for pizza lacks the taste, texture and aroma of the real thing. It’s more like institutional food — which is probably why it appeals to the clientele that frequents this place. GJ’s would be better off serving frozen pizza from the grocery story. Many reviewers say it’s amazing — since childhood. For them it’s an acquired taste and not having really good pizza to compare it to, it’s understandable why they have no idea of what good pizza is. We could not eat it — it was that bad. We threw it away. The only positive is that parking is free.

Amazing pizza and sandwiches with a great price too, have had their pizza since I was a kiddo… they are always super friendly as well and did I mention the pizza is the best.

GJ’s pizza is one of Traverse city’s greatest hidden gems. It’s basically an addiction I’ve had since childhood that I never want to be cured of. Plus, it’s cheap =) About $ 15 for a huge pizza that easily feeds a family of four.

Thin crust pizza with a generous smattering of cheese and toppings underneath. The smell alone is worth half the price. Service is mostly curt, but I think they may be remedying that with some new staff. Also, try the Monster Ball sub.
