Consistently good food with good prices. The cannoli are delicious. The owner is a gracious host to adults AND kids.

Today was one of the most uncomfortable visits to a restaurant me and my wife have ever experienced. Today’s date is April 23rd2015. Me and my wife was visiting from out of town, namely Orlando Florida. We Googled the restaurant and they came up with some pretty decent reviews and comments. By the way we are people of color, we enjoy eating out and spending time together and seeing new sites. We wanted to try a new restaurant, so we proceeded to try out this restaurant called Calabria which is located behind the ShopRite supermarket in Galloway New Jersey. The address for this location is 615 New Jersey Avenue Adsecon New Jersey 8201 and their phone number is 609−641−0080… we were so displeased and never felt so disrespected in our lives. We’ve never experienced such high level of racism in our lives until we visited Calabria. I ordered a cheese pizza over the phone. Once I walked in with my wife and proceeded to the front register, it was as though the staff including the owner seen a ghost. They tried to ignore us, and they felt ignored with our presence being there. When they finally got around to us, we told them that we ordered a large cheese pizza.(my wife ordered a portion of cheesy fries with cheese whiz on top of it, in which was very horrible). They did not even want to take our money and when one of Mexican workers behind the counter took our money, he threw it down on the counter and put his nose up in the air. It seems as though he was not used to serving people of color.(But as the leader of the people or so are they). The woman at the register pick up the money off the counter and proceeded to give me my change. The staff looked upon us like we were not wanted, we was not familiar with the restaurant so after ordering the pizza we asked to be seated. The owner was there the whole time when we walked in to the restaurant, even up until the point when we proceeded to take the pizza that was still in the to-go-box unknowingly into the seating area. He yelled out not«in my restaurant, not in my restaurant» he screamed and said there will be no boxes going into the restaurant seating area as though he was talking to his children. He watched us from the time we walked in, to the time we sat down, up until the time we left… pacing back and forth like a wild tiger stalking his prey. Standing over us, walking back and forth looking down upon us, we felt so uncomfortable. like unto a tooth out of joint. So then I understood why the staff was the way they were, because the leader of the establishment was a racist Italian arrogant and pompous. As for the food I was so displeased, because the reviews did not line up to the taste of the food. The pizza was horrible, it did not taste anything like genuine Italian pizza. It had more of a taste of something that came out of a box, like a frozen pizza. It was hard, it lacked cheese and sauce. It was dry, and the Taste was so far from savory. I Googled best Italian restaurant in Galloway New Jersey, not the worst and most racist. The only service we got was from a young lady, a waitress that had a little compassion on some out-of-towners visiting the restaurant for the first time. That was the only good service we had in that place. We expressed to her the treatment that we received from the owner and she told us that the owner wasn’t racist, and that he had a black friend. We told her our first impression and that we was giving her a true and detailed account of the service we received when we first walked in. I would not recommend this establishment to my worst enemy, as for my review… out of a five-star, I’ll give them less than one star. I myself am a entreprenuer and business owner of a very successful specialty Salon, in the Sunshine State. We cater to men women and children, of all Nation Kindreds and tongues and nationality, that travels from all around the globe to our location; and we make them all feel at home, and say welcome to Florida.

Came hear based upon previous reviews and wow! Calabria’s is excellent. The blackened salmon salad with the house dressing was perfect, and I really enjoyed the bread with homemade olive oil. The pizza was great as well. It has a very small comfortable feel to the place and I am looking forward to coming here again!

I am a self proclaimed pizza snob who lives between NYC and New Haven. There a a number of phenomenal joints nearby but I am always on the hunt for the next great pizza. I have found it! This place rocks. It’s the deal! Worth traveling to. Had the Gabriella and a sausage pie. Both tremendous. Don’t miss out on this amazing treat if you are anywhere in the area!

You could eat every night like a king. This is the best old school pizzeria for miles. Everything that they make is excellent. Their tomato pie is the absolute bomb and their pastas are just so delicious!

This place was a little gem I happened upon today. Very down to earth place but def the feel of sitting in a little bistro in Italy. Our waitress, Teresa could not have been more pleasant. My daughter had the eggplant parm sandwich which she said was excellent & I had the chicken wrap w red pepper & cheese. Both came out in a timely manor & hot. Also had a bowl of tortellini & spinach soup with it that was excellent, although a bit salty for my taste. Next time I think I’ll have to try a dinner & maybe pizza. I felt like we were having lunch at our Italian grandparents house! Def will return.

I typically get the honey bbq wings and broccoli, chicken and cheese wrap, all of which are always satisfying. Last Friday my brother had a team dinner and we got Frank’s meatballs and penne vodka, and I must say the meatballs were slammin’! It’s been a while since I’ve had meatballs that tasty.

Food, atmosphere, and staff are wonderful. The soups are never a disappointment; lots of varieties available daily. Tuscan Salad is my favorite. Shrimp and scallops always fresh. Love this place.

Ordered out the other day, I got penne vodka and the chicken tortellini soup soup that came with it. Penne vodka was pretty great to be honest. A little pricey for just being penne vodka but I’d more than likely order it again. My boyfriend got a cheesesteak and cheese fries and he said the meat was really great as compared to our normal spot we order out from. He said it had more flavor and he liked the fact that the cheese fries were crinkle cut! Overall a good review. Just wish the prices weren’t a little high.

Best Italian restaurant in New Jersey & the people are very friendly. I had the garlic knots & cheese fries for appetizer, the Hawaiian pizza for dinner, & the plain cheesecake for dessert. The best meal I’ve had in years. This is definitely a place you must try at least once if you’re in the area

Delicious food and service was great. This restaurant was recommended to us by someone who lived in the area. Being from out of state, we were looking for good food at reasonable prices. This place did not disappoint. Everything we ordered was delicious! My son ordered their meat lovers pizza and enjoyed every bite! I ordered the pasta with clam sauce which was delicious and my husband thoroughly enjoyed his vegetable stramboli. Our waitress was very attentive and so sweet. She had a thick Italian accent which added to the authenticity of the place. She kept checking on us to make sure we didn’t need anything, almost like a protective grandmother. This was definitely an enjoyable experience.

Calabria is the place to go! We were in town looking for some where we can enjoy our evening and a good meal and came across Calabria. Their food is amazing, from the bruschetta as you wait and down to the plain pies and Sicilian pizza. The waitress Kathy was so nice, helpful as well as the front end girls. This place is very welcoming place and the food is great.

Wow, what a great restaurant. The place was nice and clean, wonderful service and friendly staff. Very good food, and though I didn’t order the pizza I would have gladly brought one to take back to the Seaview Resort Hotel had I not been too full from dinner. I would definitely recommend the place. They will also deliver so check it out. Joseph Kingwood, TX

I’m the type of person who looks for the best local eateries when I travel. Calabria Pizza and Italian Grill has become a favorite destination after one meal! It was so good that we went back the next night. The service was very attentive without being pushy. The chef, who is also the owner, even came to our table in order to verify an order to get it right. The wait staff were pleasant and friendly. The food is spectacular! They brought fresh bruschetta which wasn’t soggy or over-herbed. The oil on the table is likewise not over-herbed and has a subtle flavor, and homemade(you can purchase a bottle). The first night, one in our party had chicken tortellini soup as an appetizer which they described as «definitely not from a can.» Everything tasted fresh, nothing was soggy. We ordered crispy buffalo wings– they have multiple heat options for sauce(we went with hot) — and it was perfect, not spicy hot to the touch, but heated up in the mouth. And, they weren’t drowned in sauce, but there was enough sauce in the plate to get extra on the wing if desired. The child in our party ordered a turkey club sandwich which they enjoyed and a lemonade. The lemonade is homemade and bottled with their own personal label. It was described as not very sugary, but still sweet. We adults ordered the meat lasagne and sausage parmagiana. Both were excellent. The pasta of the lasagne was obviously homemade and fresh, with good meat. The sausage was good quality with fresh peppers and onions. The roll was fresh and the perfect size. The tirmisu dessert was perfectly balanced between cakey and creamy– worthy of licking the plate… at least use your finger! The second night, we ordered chicken cacciatore over penne and chicken alfredo with broccoli. The chicken in both was tender. Neither were submerged in sauce making everything soggy. It was the right amount of sauce to enhance the flavor and texture of the meals. We finished with carrot cake and chocolate cake. The carrot cake could’ve been moister, but definitely not a detriment to the whole experience. The chocolate cake was a mix of pudding and dense cake to make a perfect blend of creamy and«cakey.» I would describe it as more of a torte than cake. It was was very dense and rich. It’s a real ‘death by chocolate’ type of dessert. A must when anywhere near the Pomona, NJ area.

I’m from California and recently we were staying in the area at a resort and looking for a decent place to eat for a reasonable price. Found this place on Unilocal and oh my goodness! We were there for 7 days and we ate there 3 times.(Would have probably ate there more, but we spent most of our days in NYC). It was by far the best Italian food I’ve ever had in my life. We even went to Little Italy in NYC and the food there wasn’t even that good and doesn’t even compare to this place! I loved the small little cozy restaurant and how it’s basically family owned and operated. Everyone there is so pleasant and welcoming. Everyone remembered us when we revisited the restaurant. Everything I tried was absolutely divine! This place will NOT disappoint. I have to admit, I’m definitely going to miss this place! Wish we had one in California. P. S. The meatballs are out of this world!

I love nothing more than finding a pizza shop with excellent sit-down dining options. My parents had already been to Calabria a few times and I’ve even had some of their leftovers. My first visit to the restaurant did not disappoint. So it’s a pizza shop in the front, with tables for dining in the back. It’s nothing fancy, but certainly casual and cozy. Our server was friendly and attentive throughout our entire visit. We found ourselves in enjoyable small-talk outside of just the food that was being served. Each table starts with a bruschetta and fresh bread. Both were excellent. The dinner selections come with either soup or salad. The lentil and sausage caught the attention of most of the people in my party. While the soup was very light on the lentil, once I got past that, it was a great soup. It was filled with flavorful bits of Italian sausage, various veggies and some lentil. The broth was extremely flavorful and it was a really great soup regardless of the minimal lentils. My group did a lot of sharing for our main dishes. The standout was by far the veal parmesan. It was a classically prepared veal parmesan that exemplified everything one would want out of a veal parm dish. The veal was tender, the sauce was good, it was well seasoned and the cheese to sauce melting ratio was dead on. We also had the eggplant parm which also had the terrific sauce, seasoning, cheese to sauce melting ratio. I can only imagine how good this dish will be during Jersey eggplant season. We also had the veal saltimbocca which has the same great, tender veal and a nice white wine sauce. For dessert we split the chocolate peanut butter pie. If you follow my reviews, my husband and I aren’t really dessert people, but this one knocked our socks off. Peanut butter, mouse, chocolate, graham cracker, oh my! They don’t make their desserts in-house and it actually came from a bakery in Reading, PA. The pricing is very reasonable and it’s a BYOB. Calabria is a really great casual Italian dining option down by the South Jersey shore.

This is a nice mom and pop Italian restaurant! When I walked in I was greeted by the owner Frank and he took my order. The staff was very nice and it looked like they had a good time! I ordered the baked ziti with grilled chicken. The baked ziti was perfect and had good Italian seasoning. I asked for the chicken on the side because it doesn’t come with the meal and it was ok. I would definitely come back again.
